And the idea that all data is handled securely plus the share features are all very cool. However, the platform continues to be glitchy at times. And somehow always in critical moments when I need to look at a file on my cellphone and it won’t “sync”. Or when I want to upload a file from my cellphone and it also won’t sync. ### 4/5 — Seamless photo sync *2026-07-26, version 3.8.49* Easily connect to my phone’s photo app and upload images. The web app’s uploading experience is a lot more painful. I’m migrating from google drive and uploading large number of files has been a pain. The error message was confusing. The number of files to include each upload (so that it doesn’t error out) seems arbitrary and a lot lower than the FAQ said the web app could handle. ### 2/5 — Issues with vault *2026-07-24, version 3.8.49* Wanted to support a Canadian business but there are tons of issues with listening to audio files via vault. Sometimes it doesn’t even play, and you can’t listen while the app is minimized. Not worth your money until they make it usable. ### 4/5 — Great overall *2026-07-20, version 3.8.49* …. but I get the impression that whoever wrote the audio player decided to add a (non) feature to change the brightness at a swipe did this to show off rather than provide any benefit to the user. The ‘black screen’ feature is useless! Even the volume control swipe is annoying. I’ve used for years but I think I’ll be cancelling before renewal this year. It’s a great start from a Canadian company but it needs some work. The main issue I see (so far) is that it doesn’t integrate nicely with the Files app on iOS. When trying to copy or move files into the Sync folders I’ve created it always result in a “communication error with the app.” Effectively, all files in Sync have to be managed inside the Sync app, which is not convenient compared to Dropbox, Google Drive, or iCloud Drive. The UI is also really outdated and clunky and doesn’t align well with newer iOS esthetics or conventions (liquid glass etc); it needs work. This wouldn’t be a as big an issue if I could do everything from Files. Sync has to invest in their UI and offer more integration with iOS. I can only hope the backend tech isn’t as skipped over as the front end. Lots of promise, though. I might check back in a few months. ### 2/5 — Bugs and more bugs *2026-01-22, version 3.8.40* When i am trying to upload something from an app to sync, I am taken to the sync app for some reason where i can see that the upload was stopped due to an error (or is not happening at all) and i have to restart it manually. Saving through the “Save to Files” or the Files app has been broken for many months now. Tech support has not being able to resolve the issue. And even when I did then still billed me. *2026-04-13, version live-3.8.44* CANCELLED MY SUBSCRIPTION AND MY SYNC ACCOUNT CONFIRMED IT WAS CANCELLED. THEY TOOK PAYMENT ANYWAY AND NOW MY ACCOUNT SHOWS AS RENEWED. WITHOUT MY CONSENT!!! THAT IS CALLED THEFT!! REPORTED THEM FOR FRAUD TO MY BANK AS I HAVE SCREENSHOTS SHOWING I CANCELLED AND IT WAS CONFIRMED ON MY SYNC ACCOUNT AS CANCELLED. MY BANK HAVE CONFIRMED THEY WILL BE CREATING A CHARGE BACK AND I WILL GET MY MONEY BACK AS THIS I BLATANT FRAUD. You can tell from how the site is laid out and how awkward that make it to cancel that they are one of the sly companies with no morals. As for the product…. For work I switch a lot between my phone and PC and needed an app that I could would on my phone then as soon as I’m back at my desk jump straight onto my PC and continue where I left off. I also need encryption as I handle customers private data. I tried around 5 or 6 options and Sync was without doubt the worst. It would sometimes take hours to sync. (For comparison Standard notes syncs in seconds, Proton Drive/Pass syncs in around a minute or so) And often it didn’t sync at all and even sometime erased files. I had files that were synced between the app and desktop version then one day the file would vanish off my app but still be on the desktop. Their app shouldn’t even be allowed to market. It does not work. And I’ve read enough reviews of many people reporting the same thing for a long time. But they haven’t bothered to make any attempt to fix it. Seriously, avoid this app/company like the plague. It doesn’t work. It loses files, the company has made no attempt at rectifying the issues with their app despite so many reviews all saying similar. They can not be trusted and I wouldn’t be surprised after what I’ve seen if it turns out their encryption has a back door. I really wouldn’t trust this company whatsoever. For me Standard Notes is absolutely fantastic. Syncs between devices almost instantly. The free version only had limited features and if mainly just for notes/record. But they laid version does have file storage and load of more advanced features. Standard notes is my main go to. But I also use Proton Drive for backups and file storage. Proton is good if you want a wider range of features. Like file storage, Proton pass for notes and logins. (Be warned though Proton Pass does not have an auto save feature, which is one of the main reasons I don’t use is as I’ve accidentally lost data. But those 2 options are the best. I have used numerous others. Sync was without question the worst in every aspect. ### 1/5 — Avoid like the plague *2026-03-26, version live-3.8.44* The amount of errors and missing files and folders from this service is unbelievable. Avoid it like the plague. Do not use for your files! ### 1/5 — Doesn't work on iOS *2026-03-22, version live-3.8.44* I'm starting to get rather frustrated with these guys, honestly. Despite how crude and simple the system is on PC (which I deleted and purged due to syncing problems filling up my hard-drive, and poor clarity regarding how things are being synced and organized, etc) and online in desktop browsers (can't even see how many files are contained in a folder, or how large the data inside a folder is), they're still struggling to get products to work at all. This iOS app won't even let me log in even once: when I don't get an incorrect login credential failure, I get an internal server error trying. A pop-up asks if I want to send logs to understand the error, but then it hets stuck spinning on "sending logs" interminably. I won't be upgrading my storage subscription anytime soon until this whole ecosystem gets a lot more user-friendly. ### 1/5 — Terrible support *2026-02-25, version 3.8.41* Maybe it works, maybe it doesn’t. I’ve been trying to load large amounts of photos, so multiple files with smaller file sizes, and the software continues not to upload all the files. You cannot get a live technical support agent, no matter what you do or say. I’ve now emailed back and forth four times before they’re willing even to consider letting me speak to a person. So maybe it’s a setting on my computer. I’ve tried multiple browsers. They’ve told me to delete any cookies. Turn off and delete any extensions, and upload in incognito mode. None of it is working correctly. The user interface for this app is absolutely fantastic, which is why I switched to it: it makes it easy to share files while still keeping them encrypted. But when you’re trying to load 4 TB worth of data, and you can’t get 100 GB loaded correctly, it’s impossible to use. ### 1/5 — Disappointed, don’t use it. ‼️ *2026-02-17, version 3.8.40* I’ve been with Sync Clouds for about three years now, and honestly, it’s frustrating that the same issues are still happening even after I’ve raised them before. The server runs very slow, there are constant loading pop-ups, and both upload and download speeds are consistently disappointing. ### 1/5 — Preis Ok, UI Schlecht *2025-12-31, version 3.8.40* Erstens finde ich es sehr schlecht, dass es keine deutsche Übersetzung gibt. Zweitens extrem langsam, drittens die UI ist einfach nicht zeitgemäß. Die gehört drinne überarbeitet. Update. Das ist die katastrophalste Cloud, die ich je in meinem Leben erlebt habe. 11 MB dauern 15 Minuten bei einer 1000 MB Leitung fünf Dateien hochgeladen. Keiner davon ist jemals angekommen. For those who have not, don’t update until reviews show that the bug introduced by the update has been solved for the better. Mobile Sync.com is unusable like this. ### 1/5 — No way to download files. App lies about it. *2025-12-28, version 3.8.40* This company is lying. When setting files to sync (download) locally, the app claims that it has downloaded the files. This is simply not true at all. The files are never downloaded anywhere on the phone and they are completely inaccessible without an internet connection. Also, there is no way to access any file outside of the sync app. Unlike real cloud apps, there is no way to access any files while not connected to the internet. The download/sync feature is fake. I am done pretending these fake apps are even trying to work. These devs all seem to be liars these days and I am completely done with it. I’m Canadian and would rather pay a Canadian company to keep my data safe. The only thing I’ve noticed is that if I choose a large number of pictures to upload at once (20 or more), that not all the pictures upload, sometimes one doesn’t make it through for whatever reason.
