### 4/5 — Amazing piece of synth history in an app

*2020-11-21, version 1.30.23*

Just started playing with this. Amazing depth to this but takes a bit of understanding to get used to. Sounds are astonishing. Would be great to have more videos explaining how everything works. Biggest improvement would be adding full midi implementation so all parameters could be controllable .... hopefully this will come sooner or later ???

### 5/5 — Keeps getting better with every update!

*2020-03-14, version 1.30.12*

I’m always excited when I see a new Synclavier update waiting for me. The new addition of AUv3 support and sound files (with the included Synclavier Timbres) is wonderful. It helps my iPad workflow immensely and these classic sounds are fun, inspiring, and very usable. So glad to see this app steadily progressing and becoming more powerful with each new release. Keep up the good work!

### 5/5 — I owned two Synclavier in the 1980s & 90s. This is AWESOME!

*2020-03-14, version 1.30.12*

I am excited to return to the instrument that inspired much of my creative output decades ago. I am planning on integrating these sounds into my next orchestral premiere in FEB, 2021: Concerto for Orchestra: The Pandemic. I expect the Synclavier sounds to be integral in merging with the 50-piece orchestra. cb3music.org

### 5/5 — AUv3

### 5/5 — Blown Away

*2020-02-05, version 1.21*

Seriously?

Apparently, yes. I worked a lot with the Synclavier back in the day, and, like the lesser but still groundbreaking Voyetra 8, it was sorely missed after it succumbed to what I’m guessing were the economies of scale/competition/technology that arose.

Having spent untold hours “on the wheel” creating sounds we never thought we could imagine, now imagine how I feel experiencing that magic again for thirty bucks. Seriously?

Uh, again, apparently, yes. I applaud NED’s democratization of this iconic and still unmatched creative tool. Give us in-app purchases out the wazoo, I’m a mere $199,970.01 ahead of the game.

Fantasy: a dedicated controller/control surface with a wheel and a nice keybed? Ooh, I’d buy it in an instant, and would still be $19x thousands ahead. There’s a business model in here somewhere...

My sincere congratulations to Synclavier for this amazing gift to serious synthesists and musicians everywhere.

Don’t even hesitate. This app is superlative.

### 5/5 — Awesome instrument

*2020-01-22, version 1.21*

This app is obviously a labor of love by the developer. An instrument that in my younger days was a complete fantasy that I could actually own is now on my device with a complete library of patches, a comprehensive and user friendly interface, and even plenty of help and background information for newbies. So happy to have this in my synth arsenal!

### 5/5 — Excellent recreation!

*2019-12-19, version 1.21*

fantastic recreation of a legendary instrument. Implementing the additive and FM synthesis capabilities of the original Synclavier with a exemplary restructuring of the UI for a software platform without losing the workflow that made it great in the first place. Looking forward to any upgrades for Go! Hopefully the sample and resynthesis capabilities will be next. No interest in a sequencer functionality personally.

Update: please have an option to remove the keyboard from the screen. While useful to demo notes when you don't have a keyboard, it's useless when you do have a keyboard and eats up valuable screen space on iPad mini's. Love my Synclavier Knob! not interested in a sequencer, there are lots of excellent free DAW's on iOS, a sequencer is redundant in a softsynth environment.

### 5/5 — AMAZING OMG!

*2019-11-05, version 1.21*

So glad I bought this app it’s fantastic, for me it’s the game changer I’ve been expecting to find as only a plug in for my studio daw. Thanks, hats off to you for creating such an outstanding app. This feels and sounds like a dream!

### 5/5 — Wow!

*2019-11-04, version 1.21*

This is the real deal folks, and with the possibility of AUV3 and samples coming down the pipeline will only get better. I could only afford the Alphasyntauri that ran on my Apple IIe back in the day .. and now I have a Synclavier on my iPad .. just amazing.

### 4/5 — So nice, FM with benefits

*2019-08-23*

Once you've been around the track with this one you may wish to start tweaking the sounds. Applying velocity/after touch to the patches really makes this thing sing.
The addition of a "Workspace" to the app architecture turns it into a multi-channel rack of FM mmmm! So worth having! Haven't tried the multi output option yet!

### 5/5 — No compatible MIDI inputs

*2019-07-02*

Very nice synth engine, but it is disable MIDI inputs from any sequencers... (I tried by AUM, Auria, Cubasis, or Rozeta)

### 5/5 — Klangmonster mit zeitgemäßer nicht zeitgemäßer Bedienung

*2019-06-18*

Wer beim heutigen Überangebot an guten

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — The myth the legend, the reality

*2023-11-17, version 1.30.23*

Growing up hearing of the outrageously expensive Synclavier it seemed a bargain.
I cannot compare to the original but unless you like cheesy cheap sounds it's rubbish.

### 2/5 — Bubblegum design

*2019-01-23*

I always wanted to own a Synclavier. Now I have one that sounds like the original and comes from the hardware manufactors. But what about the look. It looks like a bubblegum Casio keyboard for children. It should look like a Synclavier. Please do justice to the model.

### 3/5 — UI nightmare

*2026-02-19, version 1.30.28*

Quite possibly one of the worst user interfaces I encountered so far.

### 3/5 — Interface with midi

*2024-05-07, version 1.30.26*

I find this difficult to interface with a midi device

### 3/5 — Don’t Buy If You Like Using Midi to Control Parameters

*2020-08-20, version 1.30.23*

The synclavier is a mythical thing...sure it used to cost a fortune and take up a room.

I was excited to finally take the plunge and spend a small amount of money on this beast

This app is a recreation and thus a lot of the annoyances can be passed off as quirky. In fact, the interface is enjoyable, because it is so different...and that can allow for creative possibilities. The red buttons are cool, the synthesis is cool, and the sounds you can get from this are awesome.

But this is a full priced app, and it should have the ability to map midi control to the knob. I understand that everyone needs to make money...but your knob is what 3-400 dollars?

People who want that would buy it anyways...give the common man a break and make the knob mappable.

### 3/5 — Very good but needs MIDI CC options

*2019-11-21, version 1.21*

Very powerful synthesiser but this version really would benefit from MIDI CC mapping. Many other controls need MIDI CC mapping to really bring out the incredible sound design potential of this system. Nevertheless, additive FM heaven and a great way to experience the sound of an iconic synthesiser. Thank you from bringing it to this platform.

### 3/5 — Exposed

*2019-01-25, version 1.13*

I’m pretty sure a real Synclavier was very expensive way back in 1980.It’s a learning experience but I know how to use it now.So many buttons.

### 4/5 — Ein zeitloser Klassiker endlich als App

*2024-10-12*

### 4/5 — Is definitely on the glitchier side, but still worth it

*2023-08-26, version 1.30.23*

These samples are god tier. Amazingly lifelike. That said, the app is very buggy in some ways, so write down which samples you use for what in case it glitches out.

### 4/5 — Klasse, doch mir fehlt einiges im Vergleich zum VST Synclavier V von Arturia

*2021-04-03*

1. Delay
2. Reverb
3. Einzelausgänge

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Original, highly creative and sonically unique! 🐠

*2023-12-17, version 1.30.26*

SYNCLAVIER is an incredibly original and highly creative synthesiser, with an entirely unique sonic signature, and a legacy deeply entwined in synthesis history. If you love synthesis you owe it yourself to access what this synthesiser has to offer as it’s capable of generating a complex and diverse gamut of sonic textures, colours, forms and nuances that sound incredibly organic and raw. I love listening to this synthesiser through my AKG headphones via some subtle HQ reverb to bring out every detail of those wonderful rich timbres and explore its unique architecture which is also incredibly original and generates sounds as simple; or as complex as you desire …sonic bliss!

### 5/5 — ❤️synclavier

*2023-02-14, version 1.30.23*

I love this application the fantastic sounds of the synclavier in my pocket also the new version is crazy thanks friends developers

### 5/5 — Thanks for AUv3!

*2022-10-29*

I almost bought a hardware Synclavier in the 80’s but my backers pulled out the when market fell. 😆

### 5/5 — Danke für

*2021-11-28*

Dieses schönes und gutes Instrument.

### 5/5 — So Much Love Put Into This App

*2021-10-06, version 1.30.23*

It’s a very unique and intuitive method of synthesis. An absolute joy to play and to program (even if you don’t 100% know what you are doing.) This app sounds great and is certain to offer something you don’t have already. Lots of synths out there that are of a much lower quality. This app on the other hand is a complete instrument worth far and away more than the asking price.

Read through the introduction to learn the ropes and then get ready to sink your teeth in. There is a lot on offer here. Incredible depth. A might thank you to the developers and inventor of the OG system it’s based upon!

### 5/5 — Wonderful.

*2020-12-16, version 1.30.23*

Words could not possibly do it justice. Headphones or a good system certainly do. This is different, but not in a, “I’m trying to be different” way. Simply, brilliantly, wonderful.

### 5/5 — More than just another synth app

*2020-06-27, version 1.30.23*

I’ve owned and played synths for 40 years and got most of the apps. Now this is a pleasure. It’s not only a fantastic pro synth, it also lets you into a major part of synthesiser history. The Synclavier is one of the great synths and this is a lovingly made app. Get it. Now.

### 5/5 — Top shelf music production

*2020-06-02, version 1.30.23*

One of the best music apps available!

### 5/5 — All is great!

*2020-04-10, version 1.30.22*

But please raise the volume, I always have to put this AUV3 to the max or otherwise it just gets diminished to the point of non-existence because of how low the sound is.

Not a big deal and can always be dealt with with other AUV3s, but it just makes it more practical to have a more standard volume level.

### 5/5 — A must to have

*2020-03-21, version 1.30.21*

Great synth! It’s becoming more and more similar to the Arturia one. I really appreciate your efforts.
