## What is Synctrain?

With Synctrain you can securely synchronize files with other devices that have Syncthing installed. You can choose to synchronize full folders, or choose specific files. With Synctrain you can also stream audio and video files from other devices.

When you synchronize files, all changes, including deleting files, also happen on your other devices. Do not use Synctrain for back-up purposes, and always keep a back-up of your data. You decide with which devices you share which files. This also means the app makers cannot help you access or recover any lost files.

This app is powered by Syncthing. This app is however not associated with or endorsed by Syncthing nor its developers. Please do not expect support from the Syncthing developers. Instead, contact the maker of this app if you have questions.

I’ve been using this app for several months and it has flawlessly been able to keep files in sync across my iPhone and multiple computers. I especially like that I can sync files from other apps.

UI barely works. IP entry silently fails. Accidentally deleted paired device in one click. Endless connection problems with no feedback.

This is a great app to actually be able to use Syncthing with iOS. The only issue is that I cannot create a folder to sync photos. The UI resets to the folder option after a couple of seconds.

Intuitive UI and fast. I’ve been using this for a couple of months and the connection to Syncthing on my Linux desktop is flawless. I use it to sync Obsidian and it’s a live saver. Thanks to the dev for adding this to the App Store.

No complaints (other than what’s limited by iOS compared to Android), does what it says and works great with lots of configurable settings. Easy to use UI, maintained, plus it’s open source, free, and doesn’t collect any information. Literally couldn’t ask for more!

No more wasteful and slow cloud syncs, I just wave my iPad at my desktop in the morning when I leave my home, and then do it again at night.

It requires so little thought required once its up, it works every time, and its free. Incredible work.

Works as advertised. My greevances with it are actually iOS limitations.

Works great, even lets me backup my images without needing annoying icloud subscription. Been using it for 6 months or so.

Not sure why I can't change basic settings like sync direction or ignore patterns. What's going on there?

### 2.7 — 2026-08-17

This version comes with various improvements and bug fixes. You can now play streaming video in full screen mode. The folder and device settings screens are now tabbed. You can now explore the contents of remote ISO archive files and certain other file formats that are ZIP-based. Editing addresses now works properly. An issue is fixed where in specific circumstances the app could fail to reconnect after your device awakes from sleep. An issue is resolved where connections could be intermittently closed.

### 2.6 — 2026-05-27

You can now configure file patterns to be ignored in selectively synced folders now as well. There is now an option to disable connectivity when connected over a metered connection and/or a cellular network. In photo backup, you can now enable the export of all assets in a burst photo set. It is now possible to download a full subdirectory and share or save it locally. This includes subdirectories in ZIP files. It is now possible to configure IPv6 addresses for peers, discovery, STUN and relaying. Bookmarks work again on iOS below 26. You can now disable block indexing, which reduces file size in many scenarios.  The folder statistics are now calculated in a more consistent way. 
Connections to other devices running recent Syncthing versions are now more stable. 
This release updates Syncthing to v2.1, which contains various improvements to stability and performance as well.

This version contains various stability fixes and smaller improvements, including an option to view all files in a subdirectory recursively, as well as support for global ignore patterns in selectively synchronized folders.

In this version, you can now sort files in the folder view. You can also now place bookmarks on the start page. In addition, streaming files over unstable connections has been improved. Behind the scenes, file database maintenance has been improved and Syncthing has been updated to v2.0.14.
