## What is synff?

Discover records that connect with who you are.

You can hear almost anything now. But one album can blur into the next, and the music that moved you slips away. synff is an album-first music discovery app for people who want to find records worth sitting with, understand why they matter, and learn something about their own taste.

Start with artists you love. When you're ready to explore, request a Drop of six albums chosen with your taste in mind. Each comes with a reason to listen. It's a small stack to spend time with, not an endless feed to keep up with.

Find a way in
• Follow the artists that mean something to you in Rotation. They are a starting point, and you can keep adding to them as your taste grows.
• Open a record to read its story and follow connections between artists. Go deeper into the music that caught your ear.
• Search for an artist or album, identify music playing around you with Listen, or scan a record you come across.

Make room for the reaction
• Leave a note when a record moves you, even if you haven't found the perfect words for it yet.
• In Recap, return to the albums from your Drop. Mark what you liked, loved, bought, missed, or decided wasn't for you. The choices you confirm help shape later album recommendations.
• As those choices add up, your Fingerprint develops into a portrait of your taste, showing patterns in the artists and records you return to.

Keep what matters
Crate is for albums you own. Keep your physical record collection together, add a record when you buy it, or find a copy when one deserves a place on your shelf. If your collection is already on Discogs, you can import matched records into your Crate.

Follow a feeling further
Supporter adds Vibe Finder. Start from an album that interests you, describe what stays with you about it, and follow that feeling to another record. It's a way to be curious about music and land somewhere surprising.

A Drop is yours to explore at your own pace. Keep your current one for as long as you like. One future Drop credit returns each Monday until your account is full: free accounts can hold one, while Supporter accounts can hold four. The full Drop, Recap, Fingerprint, and Crate experience is available without Supporter.

Listen in the service you prefer. synff opens music there through a link; it doesn't play music itself or need access to your streaming account.

There are no in-app ads to remove. We do not sell your personal data or give advertisers access to your taste. What you choose to keep, say, and share about music should stay yours.

### 5/5 — Cool concept

*2026-09-24*

Very cool concept and the app works very well so far. A couple things I would change is one, even though I have some artists and albums from before the year 2000 in my crate and rotation, I never really get recommended stuff from before 2015 even. so I would maybe try and change that but also maybe it just doesn’t know my taste well enough yet. One more feature that would be cool is maybe make an option to choose what your favorite song was in the recap. I’ve had a lot of albums where I clicked “not for me” or “liked it” but I really liked one song and I want to hear more of that sound. Anyways other then that this app is great and with more updates and features I could see this becoming one of my favorite apps on my phone.

**Developer response:** Hi,

Thanks so much for your feedback! I actually took a lot of it on board when building V2 (it’s out now btw). I have extended the catalogue back to 1965 and expanded it fairly significantly, so you should be seeing more stuff coming through soon.

I also wanted to clarify that synff tries to match you with albums we think you're going to find interesting. We don't generally limit recommendations to a specific era, but the recs are likely going to improve based on feedback over time.

Also, the favourite song feature sounds really rad! I will definitely look at adding it in a future version, so watch this space!

### 4/5 — Cool concept

*2026-09-17*

First off I want to start by saying this is a really cool concept. I think this app could become really popular with more marketing and stuff.
A few things I recommend adding:
1. An “I’ve already listened to this” button. The algorithm is very tailored to your taste so it can give you albums that you’ve already spent alot of time with. And if you press the button it could give you another album and over time it would recognize what artists you have listened to their whole discography.
2. I feel like I don’t get recommended older albums as much even though some artists in my crate and in my rotation are older. I would love for atleast one of my recommendations to be from the 70s or 80s.
3. Maybe an option between “not for me” and “I liked it” because a lot of the times I feel very between those 2 maybe like a “it was cool” or “i liked some songs” also the “I bought it” option is cool but I feel like me and most other people don’t buy albums within a week of hearing them for the first time. I buy an album when it sits with me for a long time and gains meaning within my life. So maybe change the option to something like “liked it so much I would buy it” or something.

### 5/5 — Integrity and class

*2026-09-13*

This app is exactly what the music industry needs. Connecting artists with people that will actually like their music, and in a way that keeps music lovers curious and committed to the art form

**Developer response:** That’s exactly the spirit we built this around - thank you for noticing the intent. We’re glad it’s helping keep curiosity alive between artists and listeners.

### 5/5 — it’s about time

*2026-09-10*

We’ve lost touch with the storytelling involved with making music, and this is the exactly where synff reintroduces us. Instead of stabs in the dark at ‘you might like’, or autoplay-slop, synff carefully considers musical history, influences and media types to help me discover and rediscover music - bringing listening back to being intentional, and not just an ‘in the background’

**Developer response:** Glad synff is helping you listen with intention again - that’s exactly what we were aiming for. It means a lot to hear it brings back the story behind the music.

### 5/5 — Helped me reconnect with music

*2026-08-29*

Because it recommends full albums I’m not just passively consuming the music that is fed to me in a playlist, I’ve got the context for why something was recommended and I have been buying albums again. synff has helped me reconnect with the music I love

**Developer response:** It’s great to hear synff brought back that deeper connection and got you buying albums again. Knowing the context behind a full record makes a real difference, and that’s exactly what we hoped for.

### 5/5 — A new way to reengage with music

*2026-08-05*

Using synff has reignited my interest in music. Instead of just being fed endless similar tracks and artists by streaming services, which made my taste basically cookie cutter, I’ve been able to get out of my rut and actually SEE what I like. With 6 new recommendations each week, I have plenty to sink my teeth into - plus the capture is hella useful (more so than Shazam cos it actually keeps a history).

If you’re looking to dictate your own interests and step off of manufactured music feeds, synff is it.

**Developer response:** Glad synff helped you break out of that loop - those weekly picks are meant to give you room to choose. The capture history is something we built exactly for that kind of digging.

### 3/5 — Update. We'll see how it goes.

*2026-07-21*

I can't get beyond the selecting artist bit, 'cause it seems I can't select an artist through the search.

EDIT: I see where I went wrong. Add AJR I beg of you. And make it more clear that some artists cannot be selected, maybe just... Remove them from the search feature in the beginning?

EDIT 2: it seems they just do it automatically, and quite fast. This looks good so far! I can't wait to see more!

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for the review! Glad you found your way in the end but please feel free to reach out with any questions in the future.

A short explainer: if an artist isn’t in synff yet you can request them and we will automatically integrate them and notify you once they are in.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.0.0 — 2026-09-30

synff 2.0 gives you more room to listen closely. Request a Drop of six albums chosen with your taste in mind, then take as long as you like with them. Each record comes with a reason to listen. Leave a note while the feeling is fresh; return to Recap to shape future Drops. Fingerprint reveals patterns in your taste.

Supporter is new, too. Follow a feeling from a record with Vibe Finder, and hold up to four future Drop credits. The core discovery and reflection experience remains free.

### 1.3.1 — 2026-09-10

Search now opens on Listen and Scan, with your recent captures beneath them. Everything you identify or scan lives in one Captures list, with anything you saved waiting at the top until you decide where it belongs.

Rotation and Crate are simpler: search sits in the header and the order is a menu, so the shelf is just your artists and records.

When a listen cannot be matched to an artist with confidence, Find artist now hands you real candidates to choose from instead of giving up.

Tap an album name in your Drop to open it, press Return to sign in with a password, and dismiss any message with a tap. Reliability and performance improvements throughout.

### 1.3.0 — 2026-09-02

Your weekly Drop is now a personal edition, with an introduction and a note on why each album was chosen.

Find a copy helps you shop in your preferred format and country across artist and label stores, selected music shops and collector marketplaces.

Capture has moved into Search: identify what is playing around you or scan a barcode.

Album and artist sheets, Recap, Search and Settings have been refreshed, with reliability and performance improvements throughout.

### 1.2.0 — 2026-08-16

This update makes synff feel more at home on your phone. Navigation and screens now move the way the platform does, search in Rotation and Crate reaches further, and Artists you asked for arrive as one request no matter which service found them.

### 1.1.4 — 2026-08-14

This update keeps the weekly listening loop moving. First Impressions save more reliably, notifications lead to the right place, and requested Artists are easier to bring into your Rotation.
