But definitely not this app! I was shocked by all the different genres available from punk rock to the most indie rock to hip hop and rap and everything else. After you create a mixtape, you can even tag it with a genre and the list of genres is very rich. Good way to get all your music fix from one place if you listen to loads of different kinds of music ### 5/5 — A good app for music discovery *2020-04-30, version 1.1.1* I've received mixtapes with some songs that I like that I'd never even heard of. This whole crowdsourced approach to music discovery is really fun ### 5/5 — Chatroulette for music! *2020-04-30, version 1.1.1* The app has you put your playlist (which are called mixtapes) in a box and other people put their playlists in the box as well and you get someone else's playlist from the box and they get yours. You can chat to people after you exchange playlists with them as well! Because of this I can just make playlists in this app and listen to them here with the snazzy music player just for something different to the standard orange Soundcloud player. Switching between Soundcloud and syren music players makes it a whole less boring instead of using the same music player all the time. On top of that you can exchange playlists with people which is actually a good way to find new music to listen to ### 5/5 — good app for music lovers *2020-04-25, version 1.0.1* This app seems to be quite new and is 100% welcome. I love being able to make mixtapes from soundcloud songs and exchange them with people. Also love the beautiful interface and serves as a really slick looking music player for sound cloud as you can just add songs from soundcloud, save them and listen to them with this app's slick music player. While the app is really beautiful and colourful and has a nice idea, it would be even better if it not only used soundcloud but also Spotify. It would also be cool if it could import Spotify playlists into this app. That being said, this is quite a cool app for any music lover. ### 5/5 — Super *2020-04-25, version 1.0.1* What a great idea for finding new music! It's nothing revolutionary really but just simple and interesting. I love the feeling of excitement when I get that notification that I've received a mixtape! It's like a rustic human approach to music discovery where instead of complex computer algorithms telling me what to listen to, it's just other people around the world who are my peers. The app also looks very smooth and slick and is pretty easy to use. It has one of this onboarding tutorials when you first open it but the tutorial is really short and simple. Also being able to chat to the people you get connected with through your mixtapes is nice. It means you can not only find new music but also find new friends over music. Love it ### 5/5 — Lifesaver from boredom *2020-04-25, version 1.0.1* I've been using this app for a little while now and it's so worth the download. You basically just make mixtapes and you can choose which mixtapes you want the app to exchange with other people around the world and it exchanges your mixtapes and connects you. This is sooooooo much fun! I've just been finding all sorts of other people and the music they're into and having interesting conversations with them! 😂 It's also helped me maintain human contact during this corona covid period and keep the boredom away. Again, so worth the download ### 5/5 — 👍 *2020-04-25, version 1.0.1* The UI is really nice and the app is easy to use and also very fun. However, sometimes I don't get after I get a notification that someone has shared a mixtape with me or sent me a chat message, I don't see a red dot on their respective icons. Also while I can get songs from sound cloud it would be nice to be able to download from Spotify and tidal. That being said love the original idea for this app bringing an interesting twists to playlist apps, playlist sharing and music discovery. It's always so great getting that notification that you've received a mixtape from someone and I love it ### 5/5 — i love syren! *2020-04-25, version 1.0.1* For a relatively new app it has a great idea and heart and i really enjoy it! Its especially good for these coronavirus times, i've just been making mixtapes and sending to people and i've made a few friends from it! The app allows you to do a few things but the main thing is this: You can create a mixtape, put it in a mixer and lots of other users around the world do the same. The mixtapes then get exchanged between you and you get a new mixtape from someone and someone gets the mixtape that you put in. Once you exchange mixtapes, you can also chat with the person you've exchanged with and get to know them or talk about the mixtape or whatever you want! Really cool way to connect to people and make friends which I've really been enjoying not being able to do much else with all the coronavirus stuff. It has pretty much every genre of music and you can find songs to fit every mood from an easy chill to some hype music, its got it. On top of that you can meet and interact with other people like you so you discover new music and new friends. It doesn't seem to work with CarPlay though so keep that in mind if that matters. However, mixtape creation can be a little slow because you have to add each song one by one which is a little annoying. It means you can share what you're listening to but also as someone who makes music myself, I can send out playlists with one of my new songs on them and see how people feel about the song. The app helps you discover new music by randomly swapping playlists with people. In doing so you not only find new music but also new people that you can chat with. This app is connected to soundcloud so you can listen to all soundcloud music which is a lot! I also love that there are no annoying pop up ads or listening ads either. Really a nice fresh take for a music app. Smooth music streaming, fun music discovery and being able to chat to people and make new friends. I love how you get access to so many songs and there are no ads whatsoever. And its not even just music oddly enough, you can also listen to speeches and podcasts and stuff which they don't really seem to advertise. Its been so much fun while i've been in quarantine but i can definitely see myself using it for tunes to brighten up my morning commute. Highly recommend this app to people who listen to music in the car, walking to school, etc. as its not just your music you're listening to but something that somebody else has put together for you. Its kind of amazing  that you can get so many songs for free. Some times I can't find the original of a song i'm looking for but I can usually find a really good remix. I've found a solid collection of hip-hop and r&b music. And then on top of the playlists i put together with all the songs i add, i also get more from other people when i do exchanges. Also, i've had some pretty interesting chats on here so its actually kind of a good way to make new friends and meet new people too. ### 5/5 — The music player is beautiful *2020-05-01, version 1.1.1* The music player is so cool! Syren uses the old school concept of mixtapes and the music player definitely reflects this. When you're playing a song its like you can see your cassette tape turning as its playing the song and gives a cool retro effect. But then you can also leave this screen and as you play music elsewhere its super modern and smooth.
