## What is TabLift?

Learn the songs you love, not someone else's playlist. TabLift turns any chord sheet into a clean, playable song, and its AI coach helps you actually play it: what the song is doing, where it gets hard, and an easier way through. For guitar and ukulele, on phones, tablets and foldables.

Most apps teach you their songs. TabLift helps you play yours.

BRING ANY SONG
• Share a song from your browser, paste it, type it in, or open a ChordPro file
• Or start with 18 free songs, from two chords up
• Chord diagrams above the lyrics, transpose, a capo helper, auto-scroll and a full-screen play mode
• One tap for easier: no barres, simpler chords or power chords, and shapes that fit your hand (left-handed too)

AN AI COACH FOR YOUR SONGS (PRO)
• Explain any song: what it's doing, the hard parts, the strum and tempo
• Drill this change: go straight to practicing the change that trips you up
• Make it easier: easier chords drawn out, and an easier copy saved to your library
• A step-by-step practice plan for any song
• Licks over your songs, jam tracks and progressions, from simple to two-bar phrases, lit up as each chord plays; save the ones you like
• Scan a songbook page and it's typed out as a song
• Ask the coach anything about your playing, and get a weekly note on how it's going
• Clean up pasted songs, and fill in the title, artist, key and tempo

PRACTICE BUILT FROM YOUR SONGS
• A plan for today and this week from your own library: the chord to learn, the change to drill, the song to play
• Drills that listen as you play: chord changes counted, timing checked
• Jam tracks in any key and style, loops you record yourself, and a speed trainer

CHORDS, SCALES & KEYS
• Any chord in 17 tunings, every way to play it, and tap to hear it
• Scales across the neck, the circle of fifths, and the chords in every key

TABLIFT PRO
Everything above except the AI coach is free, with no ads and no account needed. Pro adds the AI coach and syncs your songs, set lists, collections and practice progress across your devices. New subscribers get a 7-day free trial.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No account needed, and we never sell your data. The microphone is on only while a drill, the tuner or a recording runs, and what it hears is never kept. AI features send only what's needed (a song's chords, a photo you choose, or your question) and only when you tap them; it isn't used to train AI.

TabLift is also a Chrome extension with the same chord, scale and AI tools.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.7.20 — 2026-11-05

AI answers now take you straight to practice.
• Explain this song: each hard part has "Drill this change" and the chords to look up, and the strum opens in the strum trainer at the suggested tempo
• After you follow a link, "Back to" your song brings the AI answer right back, without asking again
• New with Pro: licks for any song in your library (Song tools > Solo), lit up for the chord that's playing as you loop it
• Licks now range from simple to longer two-bar phrases, labeled Simple, Medium and Longer
• Licks over the progressions in Chords > Keys, and over loops you record (Practice > My loops)
• Save the licks you like: they're kept in Practice > My licks, with the tab and Hear it (and with your Pro practice progress)
• Chord diagrams: slash chords (D/F#, C/G, Bb/D...) now put the bass note at the bottom, and Fmaj7, Cdim, Bdim and a few others show the usual separate fingers
• Make it easier draws the exact easy shape it describes
• Share or copy any AI answer or lick, and see how many AI requests you have left today under each answer
• Simpler: Today's practice is now part of Your coach, and its steps follow the drill's own timer instead of a second one
• The screen stays on while you practice, play along or listen, and Check my timing counts you in first
• A bar at the top of Practice shows today's practice filling up as you play
• Easier to find your way: a Back to bar whenever a link takes you to another tab (a song in Uke Mode opens its chords on the uke, and comes back in Uke Mode), labels on the library's buttons, and one Easier row on every song (No barres, Simpler chords, Power chords)
• A shorter Your coach, with the rest a tap away under Show more
• Jam tracks show the beat, and licks stay put unless you choose Follow the chords, with Playing now when their chord comes round
• Clearer wording in places, an up-to-date privacy policy in the app, and a Copyright / DMCA link in Settings

### 1.7.9 — 2026-11-02

A coach that helps you get better, not just play.

PRACTICE THAT LEARNS
• Check my timing: play a strum or fingerpicking pattern after the click stops, and TabLift scores how steady you were and tells you when to speed up or move to the next pattern
• Your coach's weekly plan: a chord, a change and a song, ticked off as you do them. "Learn F" listens until you play it clean
• Today's practice changes every day and brings back what you've been skipping
• Ear training and the note finder repeat what you miss; the scale workout and chord changes tell you when you've got it

NEW WITH PRO: TABLIFT'S AI
• Explain any song in your library, get a practice plan for it, or make it easier, with easier chords drawn out and an easier copy saved to your library
• Scan a page: photograph a songbook or printed chord sheet and it's typed out as a song
• Clean up a pasted song and fill in its title, artist, tempo and key
• Licks over jam tracks, shown for the chord that's playing
• Ask your coach anything about your playing, and get a weekly note on how it's going
• What's this chord or scale for? Ask it in Chords

ALSO
• Starter songs: 18 well-known, free songs to learn on, from two chords up (Add a song > Starter songs)
• Your practice progress is in your backup file, and saved to your account with Pro
• Correct finger numbers on every chord diagram (Fmaj7, Gm7 and more)
