### 2/5 — Buggy

*2026-08-13, version 2.2.0*

It shows the guide and firmware but you can't watch tv at all.

### 4/5 — Landscape orientation

*2026-08-04, version 2.2.0*

Please bring back the landscape orientation for ipad when opening app. It used to be that way and with the latest version, it opens in portrait mode and doesn’t change to landscape until you start playing something.

### 2/5 — Portrait View

*2026-07-25, version 2.2.0*

Latest update is only in portrait mode. Please fix.

### 1/5 — Used to be good. Now horrible

*2026-07-24, version 2.2.0*

Was good in the beginning. Can’t watch anything anymore. Go on a channel and it immediately freezes. Every other app works fine. But not Tablo. Trash now

### 1/5 — Can’t watch on iPad in horizon position

*2026-07-23, version 2.2.0*

Before last update I could use the app in the horizon position on my iPad now the menus only can be viewed correctly in the vertical positions. Please fix.

### 1/5 — Update

*2026-07-21, version 2.2.0*

Latest update only allows portrait view for schedule and it is tiny on the iPad why ?

### 1/5 — Great concept, embarrassing execution

*2026-07-19, version 2.2.0*

The iPad version makes you watch it on a tiny screen, a joke. App cuts out no matter the internet signal strength. First device crashed in the middle of a game and had to return.

### 1/5 — Unreliable

*2026-07-19, version 2.2.0*

An Apple update in April 2026 killed audio for Tablo app for Apple devices. Numerous emails with Tablo support resulted in their blaming Apple. Tablo advised that a “workaround” would help, but the workaround was unsuccessful. Eventually the communications ended with Tablo’s declaring that they knew about the problem, and that they had no plan to fix their software. After three months they finally fixed it. Despite the recent fix, the app continues to crash frequently. Also, its cache must be manually cleared periodically. For AppleTV, the only way to do that is to delete the app and then reinstall.

### 2/5 — Gets worse with every software release

*2026-07-19, version 2.2.0*

I wanted to love Tablo and the antennas are great. But with every upgrade it gets more unusable. It seems like their business model didn’t count on the level of development needed to make the platform top notch.

### 1/5 — iPad Portrait mode only?

*2026-07-16, version 2.2.0*

Seems stuck in portrait mode. Now very hard to use in landscape mode, which is my ROTATION LOCK.

### 4/5 — Works fair on Apple TV HD hardware but…

*2026-07-16, version 2.2.0*

Works fair on my Apple TV HD, some staccatoing still.
But other than that product works as advertised.
Problem though my saved recordings from my Apple TV cannot playback on my Roku TV, I think some kind of audio issue.
But programs recorded on the Roku app playback fine on the Apple TV.
If you could work out that software/hardware problem that would be good.
Also would be nice to have a local channel only mode just like it does when there’s no Internet, I’m not interested in the other channels.
Thanks

### 1/5 — New version orients vertically. Why

*2026-07-16, version 2.2.0*

Open the iPad app and we’re now greeted with a forced portrait orientation. What’s the reason? It is user hostile. TV is usually viewed in landscape mode. So why is the guide and home screen portrait? Someone should get fired. Seriously.

### 1/5 — They broke it again!

*2026-07-14, version 2.2.0*

As usual…….these people have no clue what they are doing…….every update that is supposed to fix something breaks something else that was fixed before…..This time it’s landscape view on a table…….AGAIN!!!!!! And AGAIN!!!!!!

### 1/5 — Latest update

*2026-07-14, version 2.2.0*

Hate the change to only allow portrait view of schedule and library!

### 1/5 — App doesn’t work

*2026-07-14, version 2.2.0*

The app doesn’t work. It gives an error message and will not play. Apple points the finger at tablo and tablo points the finger tablo points to apple. We the us ears are the losers.

### 4/5 — App stuck in iPhone format

*2026-07-14, version 2.2.0*

Since the recent Apple update, the Tablo app is stuck in the iPhone format on my iPad. I have closed and reopened, and deleted and reinstalled. No change.

### 1/5 — Doesn't Work With Apple

*2026-07-09, version 2.0.1*

An Apple update in April 2026 killed audio for Tablo. Numerous emails with Tablo support ended with Tablo declaring that they know about the problem, and that they have no plan to fix their software.

### 1/5 — Apple Tablo 4th gen problems

*2026-07-06, version 2.0.1*

Better to stick w the old version. This new version has multiple issues. Doesn’t work with windows. Can’t watch and record w AppleTv.
Subtitles don’t work w AppleTv. How a new and improved version should be much worse than the older legacy version is very bizarre. Tried to use w a new LG smart TV and it was slightly more compatible but still the subtitles did not work.

### 1/5 — Unreliable

*2026-08-17, version 2.2.0*

An Apple update in April 2026 killed audio for Tablo app for Apple devices. Numerous emails with Tablo support resulted in their blaming Apple. Tablo advised that a “workaround” would help, but the workaround was unsuccessful. Eventually the communications ended with Tablo’s declaring that they knew about the problem, and that they had no plan to fix their software. After three months they finally fixed it. ### 1/5 — They broke it again!

*2026-08-16, version 2.2.0*

Apple and/or this developer seems to be filtering bad reviews!

What is wrong with you people? This is why AI is replacing your jobs because you people I think purposely break things just so that you can fix them again in order to have a job.

Once again, I am talking about a simple little thing that you fixed before and you broke again and you fixed again and you broke again. How hard is it to keep landscape on iPad instead of portrait which is for iPhone it boggles my mind

### 1/5 — Bad update for Ipad

*2026-08-12, version 2.2.0*

App now defaults to portrait view. Not good when using the Ipad. Too bad this update didnt add the function of updating settings (Record a tv show ) remotely. That ability as been asked for , for quite some time.

### 1/5 — Trash

*2026-08-11, version 2.2.0*

Don’t waste your money.

### 1/5 — Not a Ipad app.

*2026-08-06, version 2.2.0*

Not a IPad application. It’s a phone with horrible image crop to fit the IPad. Legacy app work fine.

### 1/5 — Playback failed: cannot decode

*2026-08-06, version 2.2.0*

Can’t watch most channels on my iPhone.

### 1/5 — Buggy

*2026-08-04, version 2.2.0*

On iPad the guide is stuck in portrait mode causing you to constantly rotate the pad. Channel guide lacks information on 3 of my 12 channels. Support is unresponsive

### 1/5 — iPad compatibility

*2026-08-03, version 2.2.0*

This doesn’t show properly on an iPad. Almost as if it’s an iPhone app except worse in that it doesn’t scale or fill the screen. My legacy app works fine on the iPad.

### 1/5 — 2.2.0

*2026-07-28, version 2.2.0*

Horrible update. This update disabled the app on my Apple TV due to audio issues. I have to disable my speaker system that previously worked fine with Tablo.

It also broke the app on my iPad. Putting the video to full screen now fills only ⅔ of the screen leaving a black L shaped box around what video I do have.

### 1/5 — Last update SUCKS!

*2026-07-27, version 2.2.0*

The latest update prevents watch any of my programs in horizontal viewing on my Ipad. I don’t want to watch in vertical mode I want to view my programs on my Ipad just like I would on my TV. The guide doesn’t update automatically and half the time doesn’t work manually either. Another example of a terrible software update.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — This this is awesome

*2026-08-02, version 2.2.0*

This is the closest thing to TiVo I that is out there. With one big exception— it is free now with NO subscription! Now I only need 1 antennae which can now be placed in the optimum position regardless of all my TVs’ locations. I can even watch tv on my iPad!
The menus are intuitive and super user friendly. Setup was super easy. Best $100 I have ever spent.

### 5/5 — It’s great despite getting kicked out!

*2026-07-05, version 2.0.1*

I don’t like when in the middle of the show, it takes you back to the Home Screen, but regardless, I have to give it five stars. I strongly suggest you do the same. Thank you.

### 5/5 — Brilliant!

*2026-01-23, version 2.0.0*

If you have good internet speeds, buy this. It is brilliant! Solved so many OTA frustrations for me.

### 5/5 — Monster Jam, TNA, NWA!

*2026-01-01, version 2.0.0*

How about getting Monster Jam, TNA, and NWA?????

### 5/5 — Works great so far

*2025-12-24, version 2.0.0*

Bought this so I could cancel Hulu live and still have a dvr. I bought a Phillips antenna recommended by CR. Tested the antenna. Worked great. Then set up the tablo. The app works great on my upstairs fire tv. It doesn’t work on my older LG tv but I’ve got a fire stick plugged into that tv and can use it that way. So far some of the weaker channels seem to glitch. But the major networks are working perfectly. I recorded the news to test it before Thanksgiving so I could record the parade, the dog show and some football. I would have saved a lot of money if Tablo was this good 2 years ago when I first got Hulu live. There are also so many extra free channels showing old movies and shows. I watched the end of Cabaret and the Wrath of Khan last night before bed on my phone. It’s like old school tv viewing and I’m super happy so far. I missed being able to flip channels and watch something good. And it’s all free.

Update: I recently moved and the reception out here in a hilly area with lots of WiFi interference from neighbors bricked my cheap antenna. I upgraded to the mohu leaf with a built in amplifier. Works perfectly again. Recent updates are great. I can now sort the channel guide for favorites because I have over 170 channels available. And I figured out how to start recordings early or extend the recording for when football pushes back a Sunday night show. It’s just like my old cable DVR now. The app does occasionally crash but it’s not often. As long as you’re recording it won’t affect your show. I’m loving this thing and it’s still saving me a ton of money every month.

### 5/5 — High quality OTA experience

*2025-12-09, version 2.0.0*

I bought this $99 device to replace my $500 TiVo Roamio OTA, and the Tablo and its app totally outclass that TiVo. I have a decent window antenna pointing towards the city 30 miles away, and see 52 clean channels. I run the Tablo app on my Apple TV and for the first time I now have a seamless way to switch to live or recorded OTA shows. Zero complaints, only goodness so far.

### 5/5 — Does the job

*2025-12-01, version 2.0.0*

Wanted local stations and was able to run cable to all other tv’s but our main tv on the stone fireplace wall. This was a simple lowest cost option. My choices for this one tv was to have my outdoor antenna cable running across the wall or drill holes to run cable through the fireplace wall. Tablo was a simple easy to setup solution.

### 5/5 — Ridiculously Good For Free

*2025-09-28, version 2.0.0*

Disregard at least 60% of the negative reviews based on the fact they clearly either don’t understand what Tablo offers or have dial up internet speeds. You can’t find a better over the air dvr without a monthly fee with this many features and a reasonable purchase price. For an in home dvr it’s fantastic and does everything you need it to.

### 5/5 — Excellent once I fix issues that arise from time to time lol

*2025-09-10*

After my new Tablo suddenly stopped working, with an “internet connection issue,” I realized my Tablo works better on WiFi than an Ethernet connection for some reason. If this is you, reset the Tablo and make sure to unplug both the Tablo and your router and even perhaps your modem so that the Tablo knows to look for WiFi after it turns on. Obviously make sure to disconnect the Ethernet cable for all that too otherwise this won’t work. I thought it was a bad Ethernet cable but it’s not because I tried a different cable and ended up with the same issue. It’s probably a bad ethernet port on the Tablo because I’ve seen this issue posted online where people keep getting a Tablo internet connection issue. Another issue that I had was the Tablo not saving channels after a scan and for that I realized that after probably an update now you literally have to click or select all the channels you want to see and save after a scan for them to be displayed. It used to be automatic but not anymore. It would be better if it automatically selected them and then after a scan if we wanted to we could deselect any we didn’t want instead of the other way around before saving them.
