## What is Tabular Mobile?

Tabular is a rich tablature editor for iPadOS and macOS that lets you read and write music for guitar, bass, drums and much more. It's the best way to learn new songs, write your own music, and run through practice exercises for nearly any kind of stringed instrument or drum kit.

All of your music is neatly organized and managed for you in the app's integrated document library. You can choose to store your library in iCloud to sync to other iPads or the macOS companion app.

Practice tools allow you to master challenging songs and improve your technique by letting you start off slow and gradually increase the speed after each loop.

Features:

• Write music using tablature notation for nearly any stringed instrument
• A companion macOS app that stays in sync with iCloud
• Use one of the built-in instruments, or configure a custom one

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2020-08-04, version 2.4*

Don’t use this. It crashes, it adds stuff to you files. It updates and dumps everything you have. Chord symbols appear sideways. Great idea. Failed execution.

### 1/5 — Broken now

*2019-12-16, version 2.0*

I used to like this application. However, something happened with the last update and now the app is broken. My content is gone, no functionality, interface gone, etc.

**Developer response:** I'm really sorry to hear that! Please send an email to support@chromaticlabs.com when you get a chance and I can help sort this out for you.

### 1/5 — WOULD NOT RECOMMEND AT THIS TIME

*2017-01-25, version 1.0.10*

I spent several hours working on tabbing out songs in the iPad version, and had everything working the way I wanted it. Then I went to load my work on the OS X version of Tabular as I had the iCloud support enabled on both. OS X version crashed, then showed an empty file when I restarted the app. Closed the OS X version, and switched to the iPad version, and now the app shows an empty document with an activity indicator. I waited 20 minutes, and still nothing.

Since the iPad version hasn't been updated in almost two years, and the OS X version in over a year, I cannot recommend anyone purchase either app at this time. It's a shame, really. I liked the apps very much, and got a lot of use out of them.

I would be willing to try them out again if this developer releases a new update.

### 2/5 — Works somewhat but keeps crashing

*2016-09-13, version 1.0.10*

Like the other comments, it randomly crashes and I'm on the latest iOS version 9.5 on the free version. No support that talks about this or how to contact the authors so I'm not going to spend 10 bucks for it!

### 1/5 — Unstable, buggy and unfinished

*2016-03-29, version 1.0.10*

Constantly crashes in iOS 9.2 on an iPad Air, it's almost unusable. Missing basic functionality like mixed note durations in the same beat. You can't edit an instrument after you pick it initially?! Where are the bug fix updates??

### 5/5 — Well designed guitar tab viewer/editor

*2016-03-05, version 1.0.10*

Deserves more notoriety.

### 5/5 — Amazing Guitar tab writing experience

*2015-02-13, version 1.0.8*

This app is a guitarist dream come true. It allows you to write your own music, in tab form, with chord charts and all. It will even play back the tab for you in the tempo you choose. I'm currently writing guitar tab exercises for my students and this app has helped tremendously. If you love to play guitar, get this now! You will not regret it!

### 4/5 — Alternate end repeats issue

*2015-01-01, version 1.0.6*

Alternate ending repeat phrasing is not working properly. Won't return to proper start point after each phrase end with the repeat bar end after each alternate ending.

### 4/5 — Excellent Tool for Students

*2014-11-13, version 1.0.5*

This is a great app for guitar teachers and students. While the iPad App is almost as good as the OS X version, the tablet version of the app is useful to inputting tabs in class and students can go back home and practice with the application. It even logs the practice so there to keep track of progress.

### 5/5 — Best tablature app I've ever had the pleasure of using

*2014-06-08, version 1.0.2*

I really like this app. Easy interface for editing and selecting individual/collections of notes, visual representation of the fretboard for notating tablature, smooth menus, and syncing with the Mac version. Has MIDI playback of your notations so you can hear what you made. It's an improved and more intuitive version of Guitar Pro (if you know what that is) in my opinion.

Great going, guys! Keep it up!
