They keep adding functions that make it even better. I also love that I can add my coaching staff and players. I was using Playmaker Tackle for tackle and Playmaker Flag for 7 but just decided to use Playmaker Tackle and reduce the player count so I didn’t have to pay for both apps and just archive the playbook I am not using during that season. I’ve added all my other coaches to the account and they are understanding our plays better than before. I love all of the options to print and as a youth coach it helps having the diagrams to constantly show the kids. However, there are a few things that I would like to see in the future: 1. Be able to hide specific plays or playbooks from the team. Only allowing them to study what you want them to. 2. A flip and save option so you can name the play and also not have to redo the other play to the opposite side. 3. More Defensive alignments, add the 4-2-5, and add a 5 and 6 man front. 4. A way to manage the timing of a play, this is useful in offenses like the Wing T. Good news - everything you mentioned is in the app already: 1. You can hide specific playbooks from team members using the "Access" tab in the playbook edit window. 2. You can make a copy of any play, then rename and use our "flip play" button to flip it to avoid redrawing. 3. You can fully customize your defensive alignments using formation templates to add as many fronts as you need. 4. You can adjust the timing of specific player animations using the advanced animation toolbar. If you suggest features, they will just tell you, that they will tell them their dev team and that’s it. Since now almost one year there haven’t been any updates. Even simple things that exist in the defensive part of the app are not available in the offensive part. And the app needs an improvement for special teams, as the app and print are designed for normal plays, while in kickoff I need an entire field not just 15-20 yds. Except from such minor problems the app is quite nice and something you could try **Developer response:** Hi coach. To clarify about special teams - the app does have field layouts designed specifically for special teams, including 80 yards for kickoff and kick return. Incorporating coach feedback and constant improvement are a core aspects of our approach to development. ### 3/5 — It’s okay *2024-01-31* I saw that it looks like a nice game, I have never played it but when I downloaded it, it said “log in” and I don’t want to use my email to play. Can the devs make it so you can play without having to type your email like in just worried like what if you get hacked…….. 😬 **Developer response:** Hi! We use logins so that coaches can secure and back up their playbooks and have them available to invited team members across devices. There are some fun football games on the App Store - it might be worth doing a search specifically in the game section to find one you like. ### 2/5 — Minimum $10.99 a month!!! *2024-01-18, version 1.5.0* Im a causal football fan that just wanted to design some plays and hear what people thought of them. This app was easy to use and allowed me to be creative. I loved the free trial and all the features that were available to me… but those prices to continue to use the app are crazy. There is no way I’m going to spend $11 a month on an app I used 5 or 6 times during the free trial period. Once I downloaded the app, that’s when the good times ended, it just sits in an initializing stage and nothing happens. I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times. Super frustrating as I was looking forward to using the app and sharing these formations with my other coaches, instead I spent all that time when simply drawing it up likely would have been better **Developer response:** Coach, that sounds frustrating. I love the features to show the progressions of the play and all of the bells and whistles the play provides for coaches and players that value small details in a playbook for notes, player management, and such. The ONLY thing that would put this app over EVERY app out there (even Hudl) is if there was a film upload option. You can pretty much draw up anything, and working with templates allows for quick adjustments. Different Printing options even allow you to adjust your playlist to different wrist coaches. I hope you're having a great season. ### 5/5 — Love it! One suggestion… *2025-09-24* Love the app and functionality, but I have one major update worth considering that I think is missing…. You’re able to add players, update their names, numbers and even position they play, but no depth chart. A drag and drop depth chart would be amazing. Or even just the ability to assign and view the depth chart as a whole, with the ability to add/remove players or move them up/down the depth chart as the season goes. Once you get an understanding of general play design, the user interface makes designing plays a breeze! Additionally, it’s great to give our coaches and athletes access for play study. We also give d coordinators access to design and draft defensive plays. The all in one solution for plays call sheets and wristband print outs are awesome. We have various size wristbands and they accommodate all sizes that we have used. Please note, an extensive playbook, with over 90 plays would require a 5 screen wristband. During 7v7 season we do design specialty plays and insert diagrams in to wristbands which is awesome; our athletes pick up on these pretty quickly. The best part; customer service! We had an incident in which a coach accidentally deleted our entire playbook (you can changes access to not allow any changes, which we’ve done). I reached out to their customer support, and they resolved the solution by restoring our playbook (app is cloud based, when changes are made it syncs to all users). Communication was quick and the playbook was restored within the hour. Jeremy at Playmaker; you’re a life saver! Smooth and seamless. Easy to learn to use. The only downside to this app is that it is expensive. In my opinion there should be a yearly option.
