## What is Taco Rain?

I made Taco Rain for my own kids, after a song about tacos falling from the sky got stuck in all of our heads.

No in-app purchases, no sign-up, and no ads while you play. One small banner sits outside the game.

A catching game with one rule: catch the falling tacos, and dodge the bombs.

Slide the basket along the bottom of the screen, fill it with tacos, and keep the bombs out. A round lasts 60 seconds, or until you drop three. That is the whole game, and it takes about five seconds to learn.

HOW IT PLAYS
• Drag anywhere to steer the basket
• Tacos are 10 points; burritos are 50 and rare
• Catching a bomb costs you a miss, so get out of the way
• Every 5 catches in a row steps your multiplier up, to a maximum of 5x

FIFTY LEVELS, FIVE WORLDS
Beat a level's target score to unlock the next one. Nothing else has ever opened a level in this game.
• Taco Town — the first ten, each falling faster and busier than the last
• Deep Fryer — burritos everywhere, and each one is worth five tacos
• Dry Season — the power-ups thin out, and then stop coming at all
• The Minefield — the sky fills with bombs, and with the tools to survive them
• The Feast — all of it at once
Endless has no clock and no target. It just keeps climbing until you drop three.

A NEW ROUND EVERY DAY
Today's Challenge gives everyone the same level and the same falling tacos, wherever they are playing. Play it as often as you like. There is no streak to keep up and nothing expires, so missing a day costs you nothing at all.

POWER-UPS YOU CATCH
Magnet curves tacos toward your basket. Slow-mo halves the fall speed. Wide plate makes the basket bigger, speed boost makes it quicker, and a shield blocks your next miss. They fall like everything else, so you get them by playing — there is nothing to buy and nothing to watch.

BADGES, AND BASKETS TO GO WITH THEM
Fifteen badges: your first catch, a streak of 25, a flawless round, two minutes survived in Endless, one for clearing each world, and one for Halloween Night. Seven of them also unlock a basket to play with — Salsa, Guacamole, Horchata, Blue Corn, Carbón, the Piñata basket for clearing all fifty levels, and the Calabaza pumpkin basket.

HALLOWEEN NIGHT, EVERY OCTOBER
From 17 October to 2 November, the daily challenge moves under a big moon. The tacos wear witch hats, the golden burrito turns into candy corn, and the bombs become grumpy rotten pumpkins. Catch 10 tacos on Halloween Night and the pumpkin basket is yours for good. It comes back every year.

MADE TO BE PLAYED BY ANYONE
Gentler play widens the basket and slows the tacos down, for younger players or anyone who wants a calmer round. Those scores are kept separately, so nobody's record gets muddled with anybody else's. Reduce motion settles the drifting clouds. Every screen follows your device's text size.

BUILT FOR A SHORT SESSION
One thumb, no reading, no tutorial to sit through. Pause any time — a phone call or a notification will not cost you your round. Plays the same on an iPhone or an iPad, in twelve languages.

NOTHING TO BUY
No in-app purchases. No coins, no currency, no shop. No rewarded videos, and no sign-up — open it and play. The game is free and supported by a small banner ad outside of gameplay; there is never an ad over the playfield while you are catching. Settings has a button that plays an ad if you feel like helping out — it is entirely optional, it unlocks nothing, and skipping it costs you nothing at all.

Your scores and badges stay on your device. There is no account, and nothing to lose track of.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.6 — 2026-10-14

A new Stats screen: your best score up top, how far up the ladder you are as two bars, and your badges as medals.

Tapping X during a round now pauses it while it asks whether to leave.

Bigger screens get more room. On an iPad in landscape and on an open iPhone Duo, Levels and Stats sit side by side, and a round gets a scoreboard beside it. With a keyboard, Enter or Space starts a round and Esc pauses it.

Halloween Night is back from 17 October.

### 1.5 — 2026-10-10

Halloween Night: every year from 17 October to 2 November, the daily challenge moves under a big moon, the tacos wear witch hats and the bombs turn into grumpy rotten pumpkins. Catch 10 tacos on Halloween Night to keep the pumpkin basket for good.

Settings has a new Rate this app row, for grown-ups who would like to leave a rating.

The banner no longer nudges the menu buttons as it loads.

### 1.4 — 2026-10-02

A smoother start, and more control over ads.

Opening the game now feels like arriving rather than navigating: the title screen fades up out of the splash instead of sliding in from the side.

Players in Europe, the UK and Switzerland will find Ad privacy options in Settings — a way to change the ad choices you made when you started, at any time.

Everything is still free, and the only way into a level is still beating the one below it.

### 1.3 — 2026-09-12

Five new languages, and a game that fits every screen.

Taco Rain now speaks twelve languages: Spanish, Latin American Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and Polish join the seven that were already here.

The playfield now fills the whole screen. On an iPad it used to sit in a letterboxed column with bars either side; now the sky runs to the edges and the clouds stay where they belong.

Vibration can be switched off in Settings, and Reduce Motion now follows your device setting — the clouds settle down when you ask them to.

Also fixed: badge names no longer clip, and the how-to-play card fits at the largest text size in every language.

Everything is still free, and the only way into a level is still beating the one below it.

### 1.2 — 2026-09-05

Forty new levels, and a new round every day.

The ladder now runs to fifty, across five worlds. Deep Fryer fills the sky with burritos. Dry Season takes the power-ups away one at a time. The Minefield is mostly bombs, and hands you the tools to survive them. The Feast is all of it at once.

Today's Challenge gives everyone the same round, wherever they are playing. Play it as often as you like — there is no streak to keep up and nothing to miss.

Six of the badges now unlock a basket to play with, and Gentler play widens the basket and slows the tacos down for younger players, with its own separate scores.

Everything is still free, and the only way into a level is still beating the one below it.
