### 1/5 — This App needs an update

*2024-03-12*

I have fed back to the App owner several times that this App poses a security risk . Currently there is no way to differentiate between multiple units in your home expect memorizing a long serial number which in a time of crisis and high pressure will never be remembered. There needs to be a way to add a nick name, room location, or other user supplied meaningful trap name to know exactly what device you are opening. Instead of getting access to a life saving firearm Opening the incorrect device could provide the intruder with a deadly weapon. This app has not been updated in over a year and even after constant contact attempts the company refuses to update it . Don’t buy these products as you can’t depend on this App when your life is on the line .

### 1/5 — Ugly. Simplistic. Useless. App has not been updated in over a year. Very bad sign.

*2023-11-22, version 1.4.11*

This app is supposed to allow you to pop open a gun concealment safe. (When seconds matter.) Instead, the app starts up, forces you to press a button to start scanning for Bluetooth devices, after scanning and finding a couple, makes you choose one of the Bluetooth devices based on a big long numeric ID, then if successful, it will ask for a 4-digit PIN code, then if you guess right, it will display the option to either forget or unlock that Bluetooth device.
.
Boom. Bad guys are faster than that. Do not advise.
.
Cute “bluetooth feature”. Not for any high-stress defense situation. JDMc

### 1/5 — BT app does not work well at all

*2023-11-22, version 1.4.11*

The current state of the phone app is unacceptable for its intend use. Quick and reliable accessibility to your firearm is paramount in any application. This one fails. The app has frequent problems, connecting to the lock unit and is completely unreliable. The speed and number of steps required to get into the unlock state is also unacceptable. There is no ability for the user to define a unique name for each lock unit. The app only provides a long serial number associated with each unit. If the units are in the same room, it can be very confusing to identify the right lock in a dynamic situation. The app does not include an Apple Watch option, as this is a more likely use case for unlocking in a hurry. Overall, there is substantial work that still needs to be done with this app to make it practical. It’s disappointing.

### 1/5 — Worthless

*2023-06-12, version 1.4.11*

The app keeps wanting you to pair and connect each time. The unlock button worked the first time, which was the last. It initially asked for the PIN the first time, now it doesn’t even get that far. I should be able to grab my phone push a button and have it open. Would be even better if I could do that on my Apple Watch. As it is this app is totally worthless.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work.

*2023-04-06, version 1.4.11*

Why buy with the upgraded BT lock when it fails to connect to the app. The phone can see the lock and allows you to enter password, but it fails to connect. App hasn’t been updated in over 6 months.

### 1/5 — Great idea, but not practical

*2023-03-28, version 1.4.11*

Right before bed I go through the process of getting to the “unlock” screen, leave the app open, and let the phone go dark.
If I “wake” the phone a few minutes later, the first thing I see is the app’s “unlock” button, and in good to go.
Problem is, if I do this in the A.M., you have to start the process from the beginning.
So if someone breaks in in the middle of the night, you’re SCREWED.
You really need to fix this.

### 1/5 — Infuriating!!!

*2023-03-19, version 1.4.11*

Stop sending emails that tout the Bluetooth option of your products. It doesn’t work, and I won’t recommend this company to others until this app is fixed! So annoying.

### 1/5 — Too slow

*2023-01-05, version 1.4.11*

As others have mentioned, you have to connect every time. They market it as an improvement and rapid access when in reality it’s just bad.

### 1/5 — Have to reconnect every time you open the app

*2022-12-31, version 1.4.11*

I connected my iPhone to my tactical trap without issue and it opens quickly and easily. The problem is that you have to reconnect EVERY time you open the app. It takes time and you have to remember the 4 digit pin each time. Hopefully I will always have time to get what I need…. reconnecting is a hassle and time consuming.

### 1/5 — No Connection w/IPhone

*2022-10-29, version 1.4.11*

Since update, IPhone will not connect. iPad will. All updated to latest IOS, app deleted and reinstalled.

### 1/5 — App

*2022-10-23, version 1.4.11*

I can’t get the app to lock my safe

### 1/5 — Less than 5% Success rate

*2022-10-08, version 1.4.11*

I would love to know what phone combination the other user is using. I have tried 3 different IOS versions. iPads, iPhones, even an android phone. NRF connect can see and connect to the lock but the app almost never can. Even when following the rediculous instructions of turning off Bluetooth, opening the app, turning Bluetooth back on, waiting, trying to connect, failing, etc. I have many Bluetooth and Wi-Fi locks and safes. I have never come across an app this slow and failure prone. I literally have success about 1 in 50 attempts. Even when having my phone 3 inches away from the lock and covered in a faraday blanket to eliminate all outside interference. Now I do t even get calls back from Tactical Traps to help.

### 2/5 — Too slow

*2022-09-05, version 1.4.5*

Seems I have to connect each time. I’ve counted as many as 20s sitting just 6’ away. In an emergency, that’s just too long.

I’ll be using the card I guess.

### 1/5 — Bluetooth an price

*2022-03-19, version 1.3.0*

The application only allows for 1 device to Bluetooth to it. For the price of this The 1791 Whiskey Barrel Flag - Special Edition piece it is tiny. I’m completely blown away an feel ripped off.

### 1/5 — Not quite there yet!

*2022-02-24, version 1.3.0*

This app is inconsistent as of right now. I have difficulty getting app to pair with my two cases. I have had to turn off and on my Bluetooth enable and after multiple times. Only then was I able to get one to pair and open. Then it did not save the first time. It does not work every time. If you get this app up and running like it should it will be an excellent tool. Crossing my fingers.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Ruined it

*2026-04-13, version 2.0.2*

With the newest update they added a pin to the app. I never set one. I usually just opened the app and it was ready to unlock. Now it keeps telling me pin incorrect. I've tried everything that would make sense. I even opened it with the card and reset it like they say to. Now the card won't work either. So my gun is just stuck in the shelf. Woohoo. Luckily it's not my only one but this is extremely disappointing.

### 1/5 — New App Nightmare

*2026-02-15, version 2.0.2*

Previous app was so much more user friendly. New app has lots of glitches and is a nightmare.

### 1/5 — You made it worse

*2026-02-05, version 2.0.2*

Latest update made the app worse. Now I need to give the app more permissions and enter my iPhone pin to open the app. Then it still won’t sync with my trap.

It wasn’t great to begin with, but now it isn’t functional at all. You made it worse and slower.
WTAF.

### 1/5 — Unreliable for something that has to be reliable

*2026-01-06, version 1.4.11*

My title says it all but every time I need to open it, I have to count on the key card which defeats the purpose of me paying more for the Bluetooth. They need to fix this.

### 1/5 — Worthless

*2025-07-30, version 1.4.11*

Program does not store store Bluetooth information and has to scan all my Bluetooth tooth devices before it can open the trap. By the time it gets through the 25 plus Bluetooth devices within reach of my phone, it could very well be much too late to react in an emergency. Solution: place a keycard in your phone case and lay your phone on the trap. Instant open.

### 1/5 — Takes 30 seconds to 30 hours to unlock

*2024-12-19, version 1.4.11*

This is a terrible software program and hardware interface. I’ve had so many problems accessing my guns you could never use this in an emergency. After being locked out for weeks and no help from support I pried it open with a pry bar and smashed it up with a sledgehammer and used it for firewood. Don’t waste your money.

### 1/5 — Don’t bet your life on it & save your $$$

*2024-11-08, version 1.4.11*

This app/ feature takes the tactical out of the trap…… I’ve had my tactical clock for about two years now. Now as far as the workmanship of the product goes. It’s beautiful. However, the app takes five or six times to connect and usually takes about 30 seconds to 2 minutes to connect yet The whole marketing employee of this company is if you can’t get to your weapon with 10 to 15 Seconds. What’s the point of having a weapon… cool idea, needs refinement.

### 1/5 — Equine Excrement

*2024-04-03, version 1.4.11*

The trap works well. The app is truly horrible. It is constantly disconnecting from BT and then the app hangs. Totally unreliable and useless app.

### 1/5 — Complete Garbage

*2024-04-03, version 1.4.11*

Doesn’t work at all anymore.

### 1/5 — Too slow

*2024-03-17, version 1.4.11*

App can take nearly 20 secs just to connect to a lock, which is problematic if you are ever in a situation where you urgently need access to your firearm.

### 5/5 — Issues with iphone 8

*2022-09-10, version 1.4.10*

Great app love it but since that latest update can no longer connect to shelf via iphone 8. Removed and reloaded app and cycled phone. Still works on ipad. Cannot find any info on repairing iphone again. Tried based on instructions but no luck.

### 5/5 — AMAZING

*2022-01-13, version 1.3.0*

Although Bluetooth may not be the fastest this lock also comes with key cards in the even I need to be quicker and it’s perfect! The Bluetooth feature is fun for showing off my AR in a drop down feature to my friends and I couldn’t be more pleased!

### 4/5 — Finally a new version !!🙏🙏🙏

*2026-03-07, version 2.0.2*

UPDATE !!!

A new version has finally been released !!! The App is now way better . Can rename locks !!. Thus eliminating the safety concerns
Connecting is reliable !!

Changing my rating . Just wish it had not taken years to get to this point ..

Original 1.0 review below for reference .

### 4/5 — Please fix

*2022-02-02, version 1.3.0*

Listen, this is a great product that is complimented with an absolutely horrible app and Bluetooth connect. Stop using your relative, friend, IT dude that you know work on it for free. Invest a little money in a better app. and you will literally have an amazing product. I love it without this feature……but

### 4/5 — Works great! Just 1 update..

*2021-12-25, version 1.3.0*

I love it.. simple and easy to use. Not sure what everyone else is whining about. Just needs to be already connected when I open the app so that I can instantly open the safe. Add that and I’ll send a new updated review! Thank you

### 4/5 — We want more...Please

*2021-02-09, version 1.0*

So far I’m really liking my frame, heck even the wife likes it, but we would really like to have seri access, and my personal favorite would be access from my Apple Watch.
I don’t have multiple safes so I don’t have the problem others have alluded to and that is a deciding factor for me getting another safe.
It does work great from my iPad as well.
You’re so close, please take this app just a little further.

### 4/5 — Not perfect but it works

*2020-07-30, version 1.0*

Yes ..it’s not quick access and could be improved, but it works. Key card is great access for a convenient quick open.

### 3/5 — Needs the following

*2021-07-16, version 1.0*

I have 3 tactical traps and what this app needs to accomplish is the following:

First and foremost a Wi-Fi to Bluetooth bridge. I need to be able to deploy a shelf from anywhere within my home. Not just 30 feet away. Look at August lock technology to collaborate with a Wi-Fi / Bluetooth bridge.

In a panic, who's going to remember which trap number is in which location. We need the ability to rename a traps description. This should of been part of the app release.

I do not need to memorize the given pin number, I need to set my own pin number.
This should of been part of the app release

Integration with Apple watch and Android gear. This should of been part of the app release.

Alexa and Siri enabled. This should of been part of the app release.

You are on to something good here, that's why I upgraded (3) of my traps. You need to take it to the next level. A app update is needed ASAP

### 3/5 — Almost ready for prime time

*2020-10-03, version 1.0*

Products are awesome! They look good, perform well, and provide a safe and easy way to access your firearms. The options are enormous! What the product lacks is within the application of the tactical traps app. The ability to openMultiple compartments is not available. You must use the Bluetooth to open, for instants a shelf. Then you have to close the app out, then connect and search for your second compartment, like a flag just open it. You should be able to return to the main page and open the second compartment. Otherwise, they look great!

### 2/5 — Disappointed with Bluetooth …

*2024-05-06, version 1.4.11*

When I first got my tactical trap, I paid extra for the Bluetooth unlocking capability.. and every now and again, I would have to try it 3 to 5 times for it to work but it would work.. now that I have lost my key card… my Bluetooth unlocking system has not worked no matter how many times I’ve tried it or how many times I’ve changed the batteries. My Bluetooth can find the device no problem, but will try to sync for hours. And never works anymore. Especially when I need it. I should be reimbursed for this. Especially considering I had to pay extra for the Bluetooth option. And now I have no idea how to get into my tactical trap furniture. I hope someone can give me some kind of information to help me out.
I have bought five different tactical trap pieces of furniture and spent well over $2000 if I wasn’t having a problem with this, then my rating would be five stars because I love their products, but this is a big deal with the Bluetooth unlocking mechanism
