## What is Tafl?

Tafl: Ancient Strategy brings Hnefatafl—the legendary Norse game of unequal armies—to a premium 3D table lit by candlelight.

Choose the Raiders and close the net around the king, or command the King’s Guard and open a road to a corner sanctuary. Every match uses a Copenhagen-style 11 × 11 ruleset, where the two sides have different forces, goals, and strategies.

FEATURES

• A richly rendered, rotatable 3D board with pinch zoom and atmospheric candlelight
• Play as the Raiders or the King’s Guard
• Four solo opponents, from the forgiving Wanderer to the calculating Odin
• Viking Saga battles, Daily Rune tactical challenges, and a playable Training Ground
• Pass & Play for two players on one device
• Private nearby multiplayer using Apple peer-to-peer connectivity
• Raven Match turn codes with no accounts, open chat, or public matchmaking
• Cinematic victories for escape, capture, encirclement, exit forts, and immobilization
• Multiple board, piece, and atmosphere styles
• In-app rules and history sections
• Match records, replay tools, achievements, and local progress
• Music, ambient sound, haptics, accessibility controls, and configurable move guidance
• No ads

Hnefatafl is asymmetric strategy: the Raiders move first and outnumber the defenders, but the king needs only one surviving road to escape. Learn the patterns, control the sanctuary lanes, and write your saga at the king’s table.
