## What is Take a Stack?

Take a Stack is a line-by-line voiceover workstation for creators who need to move from script to finished track without losing the best read. Paste a script, capture multiple takes, compare delivery, lock winners, run a delivery check, and master the final sequence entirely on device.

It is built for narration, auditions, podcast pickups, course lessons, short-form voiceovers, and timed spots. Each line stays connected to its takes, ratings, notes, waveform, measured capture level, and chosen winner.

Key features
- Sentence, paragraph, or manual line splitting
- Up to 8 takes per line (configurable)
- Live waveform and level feedback while recording
- Ratings, notes, A/B comparison, and best-take suggestions
- Alt Take Rescue for unused reads closer to the line timing estimate than the locked winner
- Second Pass queue for focused pickup sessions
- Custom gaps and a stitched timeline preview
- Target timing for 15, 30, 60, 90, or custom-length spots
- Session analytics for pacing, levels, efficiency, and keeper time
- Delivery QC for winner coverage, redo flags, timing, levels, and pacing
- Shareable QC brief and CSV cue sheet
- On-device cleanup, silence trim, loudness targeting, and mastering
- WAV or M4A export with local export history

No account is required. Take a Stack has no advertising, analytics SDK, tracking, or cloud upload. Scripts, recordings, and exports stay in the app's local storage unless you choose to share them.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.2 — 2026-08-19

Alt Take Rescue finds unused reads that sit closer to the line's timing estimate than the locked winner. Open Rescue (or the Scripts card) to see rescue, uncovered, and locked lines. Delivery QC and the auto best-take score are unchanged.

### 2.1 — 2026-08-13

Delivery QC now checks winner coverage, second-pass flags, target timing, capture levels, and pacing before export. Share a concise QC brief, then master locally to WAV or M4A. This update also improves reliability and refreshes the App Store presentation with current in-app screens.

### 2.0.1 — 2026-06-26

This update sharpens the interface: the iPad layout now uses a centered, comfortable reading width instead of stretching edge to edge, plus small display fixes. iPhone is unchanged.

### 2.0 — 2026-06-21

Take a Stack 2.0 — a pro upgrade that finishes your voiceover, not just records it. Still 100% offline.

• On-device cleanup chain: high-pass, noise gate, gentle compressor, de-ess, and a true-peak-safe limiter, with presets.
• Loudness normalization to platform targets (YouTube -14, Apple -16, broadcast) with a -1 dBTP ceiling and a measured-LUFS readout.
• Dead-air trim: removes lead/tail silence and tightens the gaps between lines.
• Master export to 16-bit WAV or M4A — decoded, processed, stitched, and normalized on your device.
• Pacing: words-per-minute grades per line and a read-speed breakdown.
• Auto best-take suggestion scored on level, pacing, and your rating.
• A 3-2-1 count-in before recording.

All audio processing runs on-device. No cloud, no accounts — your voice never leaves your phone.

### 1.2 — 2026-06-15

Level meter on every take. Each take now shows a traffic-light level badge — green for the voice-work sweet spot (–22 to –10 dBFS), cyan if you were too quiet, red if you ran hot. Session Stats adds a mean-level card with advice for bringing your recording chain into the right range.

Second Pass queue. Tap the flag button on any script line to mark it for a redo. A dedicated Second Pass section appears at the top of the Record tab, showing all flagged lines across every project so you can batch-retake without hunting.

Target duration. Set a target length (15 s, 30 s, 60 s, 90 s, or custom) on any project. Session Stats compares your stitched estimate against the target and shows how many words to cut or add — built for timed ads and fixed-length broadcast spots.
