## What is TakeHomeIQ Paycheck Calculator?

Know your next US paycheck before payday — and see exactly what changed since the last one.

How much will my check be after taxes? What will overtime actually add? Why is this paycheck smaller than last time? TakeHome IQ answers these before payday, every pay period.

Most paycheck calculators hand you one static number from one salary. Real paychecks move — overtime, bonuses, shift differentials, deduction changes, second jobs. TakeHome IQ is a paycheck calculator built for pay that changes.

TakeHome IQ calculates United States payroll only — IRS federal withholding, all 50 states, Washington D.C., and Puerto Rico. It does not support payroll outside the U.S.

WHO IT'S FOR
• Hourly workers with overtime, shift differentials, or hours that vary week to week
• Salaried workers with bonuses, commissions, or mid-year deduction changes
• Nurses, retail workers, drivers, trades — anyone whose take-home pay moves
• Households with more than one job or income source
• Ahora en español — the full app, with official IRS terminology

WHAT IT DOES
• This Pay Period — a live projection of your next paycheck on your dashboard
• What Changed — the exact lines that moved vs. your last saved paycheck, explained in plain language
• Where Pay Goes — federal, state, FICA, and local taxes plus deductions, line by line
• What-If — test overtime, a bonus, a shift pickup, a 401(k) change, or a new filing status and see the net-pay impact before you commit
• Scan Pay Stub — photograph a stub and auto-fill your inputs
• Widgets — your projected net pay on your Home Screen and Lock Screen

ACCURATE BY DESIGN
TakeHome IQ rebuilds the same math your payroll system runs:
• Federal withholding straight from IRS Publication 15-T (Worksheet 1A), tax years 2025 and 2026
• Full W-4 support — Steps 2, 3, 4(a), 4(b), 4(c)
• Social Security and Medicare with annual wage-base caps and year-to-date tracking
• State withholding for all 50 states, Washington D.C., and Puerto Rico; local taxes included; state tables current for 2026
• Bonus and supplemental pay: both the 22% flat method and the aggregate method
• Every earnings mode: salary, hourly with overtime, per-mile, per-trip, and flat pay

FREE INCLUDES
• Live paycheck projection with the full line-by-line breakdown
• What Changed and Where Pay Goes
• Complete federal, state, FICA, and local tax math
• Pre-tax and after-tax deductions — 401(k), Roth 401(k), HSA, FSA, Section 125, custom
• Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets
• Paycheck Profile — auto-fill W-4, deductions, and imputed income on every new paycheck
• Up to 5 saved paychecks and 2 Work Sources
• 3 free pay-stub scans and 5 free What-If runs

PRIVATE BY DEFAULT
Your paycheck data stays on your device — no account required. The one exception is Scan Pay Stub: with your consent, the stub image is sent to our scan service (which uses a third-party AI provider) to read it; only the extracted numbers come back to your device. We never sell your information. Analytics are opt-in and anonymous.

IMPORTANT
TakeHome IQ provides estimates for informational purposes only. It is designed to match how your employer calculates withholding, but actual amounts can vary with your employer's payroll setup, benefits, and jurisdiction. It is not tax, legal, or financial advice.

Stop guessing on payday. Download TakeHome IQ and know your number first.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.1.1 — 2026-09-06

What's New in 1.1.1:

- More accurate paycheck amounts when you correct your pay frequency after scanning a stub
- Scanned stubs now correctly capture your year-to-date Social Security and Medicare wages
- Clearer confirmation when you tap "I understand" on the Withholding Snapshot card

### 1.1.0 — 2026-08-19

Our biggest update since launch.

Every state gives you a number now. Twenty-five states used to tell you withholding wasn't available. That's gone. Pick any state and you'll get a real paycheck estimate — with a plain note wherever your state's official method could move the number, so you always know what you're looking at.

Local taxes, in far more places. Ohio went from 54 cities to 681, plus every school district and every JEDD. Pennsylvania now covers all 2,600+ local tax areas and the Local Services Tax. Michigan, Kentucky, Alabama, Missouri, Indiana, Maryland, Oregon, Colorado, Delaware, and West Virginia all gained cities or counties. And we ask where you work up front now, so local tax is part of your first estimate instead of something you stumble into later.

Enter your actual state form. If your state has its own withholding form, you can put in what's really on it — Illinois, Minnesota, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, South Carolina, Michigan, Vermont, Louisiana, and New Mexico. Eight states also honor the "more than one job" box, which can change your withholding by over a thousand dollars a year.

Fixes that change your number. If you work in Washington, DC but live anywhere else, we were holding back tax DC can't charge you — as much as $8,600 a year. Fixed. Maine and Massachusetts were rebuilt from their official formulas. Nine states showed $0 state tax for 2025; they don't now. Ohio's new August rates are in ahead of the change, and Wisconsin bonus withholding is corrected.

Paid leave and disability deductions. In Hawaii, Delaware, and Maine, each employer decides how much of the premium to take out, so there's no single rate anyone can assume. Enter the amount from your stub and we'll include it.

Español, everywhere. The whole app now speaks Spanish — including the widget, Siri, and the paycheck cards you share. Searching for a state by its Spanish name works now, too; it used to come back empty.

Finding your state takes one tap less. State lists are searchable, and they open on the state you already chose instead of at the top of the list.

Readable at any text size. Every screen works at the largest accessibility text sizes — including the tax-form questions, where a cut-off answer used to hide which one you'd picked.

Plus a paycheck editor that no longer saves edits you didn't ask for, clearer breakdowns, and a wide range of fixes.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-04-27

What's New in 1.0.2:

Accuracy
• Scanning a pay stub no longer silently overrides your filing status or pay frequency — your settings stay yours
• Year-to-date and current pay period values now land in the right fields after a scan, so Social Security and Medicare totals stay correct

Improved
• Pay stub scans are faster and more reliable — a longer timeout means scans finish instead of getting cut off as "no connection"
• The scan review screen now shows all five earnings modes (salary, hourly, per mile, flat, tipped), not just two
• A branded loading screen with rotating tips replaces the old spinner

Fixed
• Scan errors no longer falsely blame your connection when the scan is still running

### 1.0.1 — 2026-04-22

Smoother pay stub scans. This update sharpens the Scan flow so your details come through the way you entered them:

• Scan respects your pay frequency and filing status — no more silent overrides
• YTD and current-period values land in the right places
• All earnings modes (salary, hourly, per mile, flat, tipped) available in scan review

Thanks for the feedback — keep it coming.
