### 3/5 — Local game needs a way to save and return to it

*2024-08-16*

Would be great if you could save the local games so if you look at other apps or pause for a few hours you don’t have to restart the game.

### 2/5 — Visually awesome but has some frustrating bugs

*2023-03-18, version 1.0*

I bought this game a few days ago and have enjoyed learning how to play. The layout and graphics have been really well done so that part is a win. Unfortunately every couple of games my game play would “replay” the game from somewhere near the start and from that point onwards the game is unplayable. Obviously this is very frustrating as by that point you’ve obviously invested a lot of time in your game.

There are other small issues that could be improved upon also, but the frequent loss of playability mid game is the killer. If this gets addressed in a future update then this would easily be a 5 star game.

Fingers crossed the developers are still invested in the game and will update soon.

### 2/5 — Should be better

*2023-01-29, version 1.0*

A good example of someone getting hold of the digital adaptation of a great game, messing it up and then abandoning it. This game looks fantastic and plays very well (when it works) but it’s got issues that stop you completing a game. It doesn’t seem to be getting any more updates so we’re stuck with a game that’s badly in need of some work. Asmodee / Twin Sails appears to have a habit of doing this.

### 2/5 — Still needs some work

*2023-01-24*

I was really excited to see a mobile app for this game. Unfortunately, it’s just not very well executed. Game flow is very slow with no option to speed through other players actions when playing against the AI. User interface is also missing some basics - there is no back option for example when you click on an action, so if you accidentally click the panda action instead of the gardener, for example.. too bad, you’re moving the gardener. You start with the same three cards every game. No option to reopen a existing game - you close the app, you have to start a new one. I haven’t been able to complete a full game after multiple tries.. something always goes wrong (see UI comments above) or I just lose patience.

### 2/5 — Stinks

*2022-07-28*

This game stinks. You start with the 3 same cards every game. The online play is non existent, I’ve tried to create several rooms for friends and none have been able to find the created room. The game also seems rigged against you. After the first couple of rounds the A.I. players satisfy their tasks every round after that which isn’t very realistic.

This a really a poor execution of my favorite tabletop game.

### 3/5 — AI too lucky with pulls?

*2022-03-18, version 1.0*

My lil one loves the panda on the title screen, though she presses the other buttons to see the chibi pandas., then needs me to click back…

Could we just add an interactive panda thing aimed at 2-3 year olds 😅

Pretty much every game., the AI is able to complete objectives twice as fast as me.. have to wonder if it has extra cards or picks from 4 tiles (so if it started with 5 cards - so more likely to have something to claim, though would always keep 2 hidden and need to draw to more before it could claim..

We all know AI needs to cheat., but I like my AI thick unless I pick hard… 🎸

### 1/5 — Buggy

*2021-08-08, version 1.0*

Wonder if it was even playtested lol

### 1/5 — Visually stunning, atrocious back end

*2021-07-04, version 1.0*

I seriously don’t know what they’re doing! For such a good looking game they’ve messed up the game play so bad.
I won’t list all the flaws because to be honest I could have lived with them and wouldn’t have minded.
However, 9/10 starting hands are all the same.
(Gardner:4 green bamboo. Panda: pink, yellow, green. Tile: 3 yellow curved)

This is completely unacceptable. All they need was to put the full list of cards in the game (which they may have, who knows) and put a decent random starting hand selector and this game would have comfortably got 3/4 stars.
The way the game currently is, it doesn’t even warrant 69p let alone £2.99 (what I paid).

### 2/5 — Can’t play

*2021-05-01*

I was so excited to see this game in an app because it’s one of my favorites it let me play the first two or three games and then all it does is glitch and I haven’t been able to play since. The game is beautiful I love the animation but you can’t play

### 1/5 — Glitchy

*2021-04-02, version 1.0*

Lots of promise ruined by glitches. During a single player game, the AI got caught in a loop, repeating the same turn over and over. Multiplayer does not work. This smells like an app rushed through development with not enough time spent on debugging, and based on release dates it does not look like any updates are coming. What a crying shame.

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2021-03-15, version 1.0*

I love Takenoko the game but this app is all screwy. It doesn’t work at all with the A.I. and there’s no one to play with online. Requesting a refund.

### 1/5 — Broke!

*2021-03-02, version 1.0*

This game is broke. Try and play against the AI and nothing happens. They literally don’t take their turn. Come on Asmodee fix it!

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2021-01-29, version 1.0*

I bought this to play with a friend but I haven't been able to make playing with a friend work. I tried emailing customer service but they didn't reply. I wish I hadn't thrown away my money on this app. I have yet to play one game. I don't want to play by myself or with a computer. I specifically chose this game because it's supposed to have multi-player functionality. It doesn't.

### 1/5 — Low uptake for online play

*2021-01-07, version 1.0*

I bought this to try and help my daughters learn the real game

It’s really nicely animated but the main issue is you can only play a game online (no solo feature) and there are very few people online to start a game.

Of course That’s an obvious risk but a shame Asmodee haven’t included a computer to play. It’s a great game, but the app is a bit of a disappointment.

### 1/5 — Automatically plays then crashes

*2020-10-19*

The game lets you play maybe 2 turns and then automatically makes the next 1-2 turns until it freezes on a computer’s turn and doesn’t make any moves. Was excited to use this instead of buying the standard game. But now I can’t believe anyone would put out an app that just blatantly doesn’t work at all. Can’t ever finish a game.

### 1/5 — Still buggy

*2020-10-17, version 1.0*

Unfortunately I found this game to still contain bugs and stops working mid-game when playing the AI. It’s a great game but seems a poor implementation on IOS.

### 2/5 — Multiplayer is unplayable

*2020-10-10, version 1.0*

After getting into the board game scene. My partner and I have started to dive into board game apps before buying a physical copy. The game mechanics are great. Graphics good but the online multiplayer crashes. Constantly. I think after about a couple dozen times trying on separate occasions, on data and wifi we can safely say this game is broken and in need of a update. DO NOT BUY IF YOU WANT TO USE THE ONLINE MULTIPLAYER. Seriously don’t bother.

### 1/5 — Horrendous Mulitplayer

*2020-10-05, version 1.0*

It’s a good game but the app is horrendous. It freezes constantly, it randomly closes and the multiplayer just doesn’t work 90% of the time. It’s not worth it. It needs to be updated to fix the bugs but looks like they don’t care about the app at all.

Disappointing.

### 1/5 — Titre

*2025-07-07, version 1.0*

On peut pas jouer si on a pas d’amis qui rentre dans la game faque si t’as personne pour jouer t’a payer pour rien

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2025-06-09*

I was excited to play the digital version of this game but unfortunately the app is complete trash. I got through the tutorial and then the app crashes. I have to uninstall to get anything to happen and go through the tutorial again where it crashes in the same place. I never even got to play, just went through the tutorial several times. Can’t someone from the developers just fix this app?!

### 1/5 — Online glichey

*2024-10-18, version 1.0*

Couldn’t get through a game with online friends. Kept kicking one of us off, then you have to restart and watch the game from the beginning with no fast forward. Requested refund.

### 1/5 — Complete Failure of A Game

*2022-12-03, version 1.0*

It simply will not advance to the next turn. The ai starts and then does nothing. Worthless

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2022-11-28, version 1.0*

Please do this game justice and make the app work.

### 1/5 — The very worst..

*2022-01-09, version 1.0*

Very useless waste of my money. The AI doesn’t work, you can’t play with friends because that doesn’t work either.. nothing ducking works but you put a price on it, who does that? You can only play with yourself

### 1/5 — Slow A.I

*2022-01-03, version 1.0*

A. I is painfully slow, almost unplayable on your own

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2021-12-27, version 1.0*

When playing with the AI it bugs out and it doesn’t do any of the actions and you can’t play. It just locks you there without any options to skip or do anything. You’re not even able to play a turn

### 1/5 — Broken

*2021-09-05, version 1.0*

The whole game is broken. Will not play at all. I want my money back. Sad cause the board game is so good.

### 1/5 — Online sucks

*2021-08-16, version 1.0*

Cannot play with others. We bought this to play with other friends we could not get together with and play the real thing and it just glitches. Not even possible to play. Please fix!!!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Really good fun

*2025-03-15, version 1.0*

Really good fun, also I don’t understand why it’s rated so low either. Can by the extension pack too if you want to add the babies etc. very happy 👍

### 5/5 — Not sure why rated so low…

*2022-07-10, version 1.0*

Everything is just like the real game, good effects, plenty of different options to play, either online, with the computer or with people at home. Never had any issues with game play like the previous review suggested. Really good game!

### 5/5 — Fixed.

*2020-01-06, version 1.0*

Happy to amend my review now the game has been fixed and works. A lovely adaption of the board game. However the company should answer support tickets.

### 5/5 — BEAUTIFUL implementation of this game

*2019-12-21, version 1.0*

They knocked this out of the park, design-wise. Gorgeous graphics and cute animations. People that are rating based solely on a few remaining bugs are missing the point - they will solidify the code over the next few weeks and this will be a must own. Glad I bought it!

### 5/5 — Finally!

*2019-12-15*

Finally an app for this game! I was so excited to see this. The game runs smoothly for me. I usually play against the AI. Takenoko is such a fun game. There is more strategy to this cute game than you would think at first glance. The multiple ways to earn victory points and the ever changing board (tiles) make for good replayability. I am now addicted😂

### 5/5 — Faithful remake

*2019-12-06, version 1.0*

Nice context-specific animations and sounds, especially for the panda. It’s a near-perfect translation. Lovely. Awesome!
Great job!

### 4/5 — Good implementation of theme, at least one bug

*2020-04-12, version 1.0*

Brilliantly implemented, excellent tutorial, very thematic. Very enjoyable. However, the local scoreboard is broken - although I won the game I played, and the scoreboard shows I have more points, it’s recorded as a loss and a win for the AI.

### 4/5 — Dose not save, but otherwise great

*2020-04-09*

I recommend this app if you have the actual board game

### 4/5 — Mimics real game

*2019-12-15, version 1.0*

Good game. Mechanics are a little slow if playing with AI, but exactly like playing in real time with other players. When you first log in the game produces a tutorial, you can just exit this if you know how to play. Not sure why others gave it one star. Feels like the real game!

### 4/5 — Opportunity for improvement

*2019-12-10, version 1.0*

Crashes in between games, and would like the option (like others) to speed up the AI game play (and not have to push OK all the time).
