## What is tala?

We – a team from the Department of General Practice at the University Medical Center Freiburg – have developed the tala-med Cardio app in collaboration with experts from various fields. Our goal is to motivate people to adopt a healthier lifestyle and, in doing so, reduce their risk of cardiovascular disease. We want to reach as many people as possible, so the app is available for free in multiple languages. No personal data is stored or shared.


The app includes three modules that combine short informational texts, creative game elements, and motivating videos to provide knowledge and make learning fun. The modules cover nutrition, physical activity, and smoking cessation.


What can you expect from the different modules?

Fitness Module:
Here you'll find lots of useful information on physical activity and health. You can create your own personalized weekly activity plan – whether it's everyday movement or home workouts. With tala-med Cardio, it's easy to incorporate physical activity into your daily routine.


Nutrition Module:
This module offers information on how to eat healthily and in a balanced way. Based on WHO- and DGE-recommendations. You'll be able to reflect on your eating habits and adapt them to your needs in a fun and creative way. Since the app is available in multiple languages, the nutrition module also includes traditional recipes from each of these cultures. You’ll also find concise and helpful nutrition tips.


Smoke-Free Module:
We want to support you on your journey to quitting smoking. To do so, we use methods recommended by health experts. For example, we track how long you’ve been smoke-free and reward you with trophies and Talas – which you can use to create a beautiful garden full of blooming flowers, making your progress visible. Trophies are awarded for reaching certain milestones. You'll also receive creatively presented health facts. Step by step, we show you the positive effects of a smoke-free life on your body, your organs, and your overall health.
