That said, the overall Talkspace experience is pretty terrible - the therapists are fairly subpar, there isn’t a big selection of them (I tried to change and kept getting offered the same ones), and their policies are super inflexible. e.g., my son broke his arm and I had to take him to the hospital. I messaged my therapist that I had to miss our session, and her only (and repeated) response was that I was going to be charged $140 for missing our session, and there was nothing she could do. Anyway, my recommendation is to avoid Talkspace and just look to other platforms, or reach out to some local therapists; they will likely have video capabilities themselves. ### 2/5 — Expensive *2026-07-23, version 10.6.57* They ask you to type in your insurance information but at the end it’s still 100 a week to talk to a Therapist ### 1/5 — Fake rehearsed therapy *2026-07-16, version 10.6.57* It’s almost like AI. The therapist is speaking off a prompt. The text messages responses are just pdfs sent from AI. Save your self your time and money. This is your mental health on the line. Don’t risk it with this fake company. ### 1/5 — THE WORST *2026-07-15, version 10.6.57* This is the worst therapy I’ve ever come across. I was offered 8 free sessions through EAP. I was making really good progress with this person, only to find out they don’t take my insurance so I had to stop seeing my provider. This was very upsetting and distressing for me as it has taken a lot for me to start therapy and open up with someone. It would’ve been nice to know ahead of time that my provider was out of network and. I canceled before the 24 hour period but I’m still being charged. Support will not help you with anything other than how to pay or login. It was a waist of time and money. Why am I being matched with a provider outside of my home state that cannot counsel me?!?? It was even a recommended and listed option on my insurance plan. Nope! They decided not to so left holding the bag! Was charged an egregious amount after it was sent back to me; no email about a payment plan or anything. Just takes all your money! Won’t ever use this service again! ### 1/5 — Awful Experience *2026-06-18, version 10.6.54* Had a therapist on here who supposedly specializes in Borderline personality disorder tell me in our first session that I should stop taking my medications because it doesn’t work for the disorder (wtf??) and then proceeds to question my entire diagnosis and basically tell me that I don’t have it right now because I’m not in immediate crisis. My bpd has been diagnosed by a medical professional like what is wrong with you dude??I’ve tried a few other therapists on here and it’s honestly just exhausting just having to go through the same thing over and over again with new people who you can’t connect with and due to the experience with that therapist I can’t seem to trust this platform for therapy so I have had to look elsewhere. Which sucks because talkspace was FULLY covered by my insurance now I have to pay $150 per session for therapy again. Train your therapists better/better background checks! ### 1/5 — Bad Customer Service *2026-06-17, version 10.6.54* Don’t give them your credit card. I had three sessions that popped up that I didn’t schedule. customer service should be inside the app. This is a company that doesn’t want to talk to their customers. They did reverse everything and the billing is now correct. They make it damn hard to cancel your account. ### 1/5 — A Complete Hassle for Medical Records *2026-06-17, version 10.6.54* I’ve been trying for weeks to get medical records. Their AI assistant, because apparently a person does not exist, advised me which form to complete and upload. I completed it, signed it took a picture and uploaded it, got a response saying it’s the wrong form to fill out. Instead of adding the form to the email they sent a link that sent me to the same form I completed. I’ve been in this same loop for WEEKS! I can’t pick the therapist I want. All the appointment times are either at 8 am or 9-10pm. RIDICULOUS! Talkspace has NO customer service. I’ve been having problems signing up with Talkspace so I called their ‘customer service’ several times. Their people keep telling me to go online. I have already tried to sign up online but their software is so horrible I couldn’t. But they tell me to go online and they offer ZERO help! Why do they have people answer their phones when their agents offer ZERO help? It’s almost impossible to get through to an agent. I encounter LONG hold times and when I did get someone in the phone it sounded like they were in a Southeast Asia call center. Their app is horrible too. I can’t locate my therapist on their app. They give you names of people I do not want. Their therapist search feature in their app is ridiculous. I wrote them a long letter explaining my situation but no one at Talkspace ever responded. Their staff is rude or completely indifferent. They don’t care that people have to wait on hold for hours. They offer zero help. What an awful company! I don’t know how these people stay in business. As I’ve been writing this review I thought they will never read it. They don’t even respond to my letters. And there is no way to write their company through their defective app. TALKSPACE IS AWFUL!!!!! ### 1/5 — Hidden Fees in Terms and Conditions. *2026-08-25, version 10.6.57* this app just like many others hides the fact deep in the terms and conditions that they can charge up to a $125 cancellation fee if you are to cancel within a 24 hour to 48 hour window. working in psychiatry that charge is just not ethical because of the type of patient that they are dealing with therefore Talkspace is really just a money hungry platform. I understand that the cancellation fee for business can vary and most businesses do have a cancellation fee… charging $125 in this world is just completely unfeasible and downright vicious. ### 1/5 — My mental problems got worse *2026-08-23, version 10.6.57* I had downloaded this app to finally see mental help. Since my health insurance includes up to 6 free sessions I thought sure why not. I had one session where the therapist was 15 mins late but I was desperate for help that I still stayed on. After the brief session I looked and they are now charging me almost $200. I thought well this should be an easy mistake to clear up. When I had called the customer service line. (Mind you I’ve had to try to call over numerous days because the automated system told me no one could help and would end the call. I was persistent and when I finally got ahold of someone they said that’s an insurance thing and they can’t help me. I called my insurance company and they said no since they are the ones responsible for the type of billing it would have to be them that fixes it. My health insurance assisted me and getting ahold of them when this time they say “it was user error on my part for not using the eap code correctly” And since it’s already been billed I was pretty much sol. My health insurance and I both tried explain that my eap code has a start prior to when the actual session occurred and they still said they can’t do anything. So now I’m here trying to warn everybody to please STAY AWAY FROM THIS APP. THIS COMPANY IS AFTER MONEY AND DOES NOT CARE ABOUT ONES OWN MENTAL HEALTH. My health insurance was a lot more empathetic to the situation than the actual mental health app. I will be posting about this all over to get the awareness out! Also don’t reach out to the help team as they will completely avoid your question and just redirect you to an FAQ site instead of actually helping you.
