Use Talkwell if you want your group to be open to new members, but don't want to have to worry about your group being disrupted by newcomers who are too loud or who misbehave. Content in Talkwell is clustered according to who wrote it, meaning that everyone gets the same amount of space to talk, and the conversation doesn't get dominated by the loudest members. Expand a person's cluster to see what threads they are part of and jump into those threads. Talkwell distinguishes between visitors and members with messages from members being given more prominence. It is easy for someone to visit your group, but they need to win the approval of the group's admins to become a member. Talkwell avoids "arguing in public" by marking replies to your message as "out of date" when you edit your message. Endless back and forth gets replaced with repeatedly refined nuanced opinions. Sub-groups allow larger groups to be broken down into smaller, more personal groups, while still allowing information to throw between groups to keep the broader group coherent.
