Downloaded this when it first came out and now the addition of ads and subscription ruined it me 👎🏾

**Developer response:** That's fair, and I won't argue with it — you were here before the ads. Talky is written by one person, and the ads and Pro are what pay the Apple developer account and the servers so the app itself can stay free. That doesn't make it pleasant for someone who had it clean from day one. Two things I can offer rather than excuses: ads no longer interrupt radio playback, and there's a rewarded video that gives you an ad-free hour whenever you want one, without paying. A one-time purchase instead of a subscription is the request I've now heard from several people, and it's the direction I'm looking at next. Thanks for having been there at the start.

Verbindung zweier iPhones klappt nicht, es werden lediglich gefakte Geräusche eingespielt, die von penetrantester Werbung unterbrochen werden.

**Developer response:** Nachtrag, weil meine erste Antwort nur ein Versprechen war: Der Verbindungsfehler ist behoben und seit dem 10. Juli in Version 2.41 im App Store — nicht „im nächsten Update", sondern seit einem Monat live. Zwei Dinge waren kaputt und beide erklären genau das, was du erlebt hast: Die App hat Verbindungsanfragen automatisch alle paar Sekunden erneut verschickt, und eine gültige Anfrage von einem iPhone direkt daneben konnte still verworfen werden. Beides ist raus; auf einem privaten Kanal verbinden sich zwei Geräte jetzt ohne Nachfrage. Zum Radio hattest du im Kern recht: Es ist kein FM — das iPhone hat keine FM-Antenne, es sind echte Internet-Streams. Dass die App trotzdem von „FM" sprach, war irreführend; das ist in der Version korrigiert, die gerade bei Apple in Prüfung liegt. Und Werbung unterbricht die Wiedergabe nicht mehr. **Developer response:** Kurzer Nachtrag, weil ich dir damals nur ein kommendes Update versprochen hatte: Es ist da, seit dem 10. Juli, Version 2.41. Der Fehler war konkret — die App hat Verbindungsanfragen automatisch im Sekundentakt wiederholt, und eine gültige Anfrage von einem iPhone direkt daneben konnte still verworfen werden. Genau das führt dazu, dass die App scheinbar „einfach nichts tut". Beides ist behoben, und im privaten Kanal verbinden sich zwei Geräte jetzt ohne Nachfrage. Was weiterhin nötig ist: auf beiden iPhones „Lokales Netzwerk" erlauben, Bluetooth und WLAN an, beide im selben Kanal. Wenn es danach immer noch nichts tut, ist es ein anderer Fehler und ich will ihn finden — schreib mir an andreapiani.dev@gmail.com. Für den einen Stern musst du dich nicht entschuldigen, der war berechtigt.

App funktioniert nicht - zumindest rein via Bluetooth, wie ich sie getestet habe. 
Das angebliche Radio ist ein Fake. Das iPhone besitzt keinen Radioempfänger und es kommen immer die selben „Durchsagen“. 
Schaltet ma das vermeintliche Radio aus,  geht die App „offline“ an.

**Developer response:** Nachtrag zu meiner damaligen Antwort, in der ich nur ein kommendes Update versprochen hatte: Es ist seit dem 10. Juli live, Version 2.41. Der Verbindungsfehler zwischen zwei iPhones ist behoben — die App hat automatisch alle paar Sekunden neue Anfragen verschickt, und eine gültige Anfrage vom Gerät direkt daneben konnte still verworfen werden. Beides ist raus. Beim Radio hattest du recht, und zwar in beiden Punkten: Das iPhone hat keinen FM-Empfänger, es sind Internet-Streams — dass die App trotzdem von „FM" sprach, war irreführend, und das ist in der Version korrigiert, die gerade bei Apple in Prüfung liegt. Die immer gleichen „Durchsagen", die du gehört hast, waren nicht das Radio, sondern ein simulierter Funk-Hintergrundton; der ist inzwischen standardmäßig aus. „Fake" war unter diesen Umständen ein fairer Vorwurf, und er hat dazu geführt, dass beides geradegezogen wurde.

Habe versucht, eine Verbindung zu einem anderen iPhone aufzubauen, auf dem die App auch installiert ist. Klappt nicht, obwohl alle Berechtigungen erteilt sind.

**Developer response:** Nachtrag, weil ich dir im Januar nur „im nächsten Update" geschrieben habe: Das Update ist seit dem 10. Juli draußen, Version 2.41. Dass bei dir alle Berechtigungen erteilt waren und es trotzdem nicht ging, passt genau zum gefundenen Fehler — die Geräteerkennung konnte eine gültige Anfrage vom iPhone direkt nebenan still verwerfen, während die App gleichzeitig automatisch alle paar Sekunden neu angefragt hat. Beides ist behoben; im privaten Kanal verbinden sich zwei iPhones jetzt ohne Nachfrage. Ein zweiter Versuch würde mich freuen, und falls es wieder scheitert, schreib mir bitte an andreapiani.dev@gmail.com — dann liegt es an etwas anderem und ich möchte wissen, woran.

Tried to get this app to work at home before using it anywhere else. It didn’t work at all. Kept dropping connection between phones that were a few metres apart and no voice could be heard, other than occasional badly delayed portions.

**Developer response:** An update rather than another promise: the fix went live on 10 July in version 2.41, and has been on the App Store since. Your description turned out to be the most useful one I got, because the dropouts and the delayed, broken-up audio had the same cause. The app re-sent connection invitations automatically every few seconds, which kept tearing the link down and rebuilding it mid-transmission, and discovery could silently discard a valid invitation from a phone a few metres away. Both are fixed, and peers on the same private channel now connect without prompting at all. You said you wanted this to work — so did I, and testing it at home first was the right instinct. If it still drops after updating, email andreapiani.dev@gmail.com and I'll chase it with you.

My wife and I downloaded it, do we could chat whilst bike riding.  It doesn’t connect to other devices

**Developer response:** An update instead of another promise: the fix went live on 10 July in version 2.41. The app used to re-send connection invitations automatically every few seconds, and discovery could silently reject a valid invitation from a phone standing right next to it — which is why two phones in the same house wouldn't pair, let alone two bikes apart. Both are fixed, and two phones on the same private channel now connect without either of you tapping accept. For riding: put both phones on the same private channel before you set off, with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on and "Local Network" allowed. Range is roughly line-of-sight, so it holds up well on an open road and less well with a hill between you. constantly spammed with connection requests after recent update and can’t find anyone nearby

**Developer response:** Both of those are fixed in the version now on the App Store. The app used to re-send invitations automatically every few seconds, which is exactly what produced the flood of prompts — that retry loop is gone, and on a private channel peers now connect without asking you every time. Discovery also had a race: a valid invite from someone standing next to you could be rejected silently, which is why nobody showed up nearby. Also fixed. If it still misbehaves after updating, please write again and I'll dig into it — it's a one-person app and reports like yours are what I work from.

Can’t make it work setting option is cropped on my screen.

**Developer response:** This one I'd like to pin down properly. There was a real layout bug on short screens and it's fixed in the current version — but a 15 Pro is not a short screen, so on your phone something else was going on and I don't want to pretend otherwise. If you still see the settings option cropped after updating, could you tell me whether it happens in Walkie or Radio mode, and whether you use Display Zoom or a larger text size? With that I can reproduce it and fix it for good.

Nice idea but impossible for real life usage. App needs to be running in foreground. Phone goes into Standby can’t receive. All devices’ are ID as "iPhone". Cant tell who's who.

Seems like a cool app and will continue testing. Issue on iPhone 8, there appears to be no way to access the Talk/Explore/Connections/Settings buttons seen on the bottom of larger screen devices.

**Developer response:** Fixed — you and another iPhone 8 owner reported the same thing, and it's sorted in the version now on the App Store. On short screens the bottom bar hides the promo row above it and tightens its spacing, so all four buttons stay reachable. Thanks for testing it properly and writing it down instead of just uninstalling.
