## What is Tally?

Tally keeps track of shared costs on trips, in shared flats and after dinners, and works out who owes whom, down to the cent.

Make a group, add your friends by name, and log what each person paid. Tally keeps a running balance for everyone and suggests the payments that settle the group up. No spreadsheets, no mental math, no awkward "I think you owe me?"

SPLIT IT ANY WAY
• Equally between everyone, or just the people who were there
• By exact amounts, when everyone ordered something different
• By shares, like two nights for you and one for Ben
Splits always add up to the exact total, so no cent goes missing.

SCAN A RECEIPT
Snap a receipt and Tally fills in the title, total (tip included), date and category. The text is read on your iPhone, so the photo never leaves it.

ANY CURRENCY
Paid in dollars on a euro trip? Add it in the currency you paid, and Tally converts it at that day's European Central Bank rate. Or enter your own rate.

EVERYONE STAYS IN THE LOOP
• Invite people with a short code. If you already added them by name, they claim it and see the whole history.
• Get a notification when someone adds or edits an expense, written for you: "Added Groceries · €42.10 · your share €14.03"
• Categories are picked for you as you type.

SETTLE UP
See what everyone paid and what their share is, then record payments as people pay each other back. Balances update for everyone in the group.

WORKS WITH CLAUDE
Connect Tally to Claude or another AI assistant that supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP), sign in, and just ask: "Add 42.50 for groceries to Lisbon, paid by Ana, split between me and Ben." Or: "Who still owes me?"

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No ads and no tracking. Tally only records who paid what: it never moves money and never asks for your bank or card details. Your groups are visible only to the people in them.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-10-30

Thanks for using Tally, and welcome to everyone who's just joined. Here's what's new:

• A new welcome screen that shows what Tally does before you sign in: split the dinner, the rent, the cabin, the tab.
• Signing in now opens as a smaller sheet over the welcome screen, so it feels lighter.
• Set up Tally with your AI in a tap. Go to Account → Use with AI and pick Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini to start a chat that walks you through connecting Tally.
• Small fixes and polish throughout.
