Unfortunately does not include Haftorah portions related to weekly Parsha even though the relevant books are included. Odd considering the Parshas and Aliya portions are delineated. That why I deduct a star. ### 4/5 — Useful Bible App *2018-02-14* The search function works well, punctuation ist in the right places, navigation and bookmarking are good, too. This app is really great for my studies. But: There were no updates for this app in a year. Has Davka abandoned it? I really wish for split screen support in iOS 11! But two add'l features would make it perfect: 1) bookmark or remember where I left off within a chapter—if I put my phone down and come back to it later, it always starts me over again at the top. And 2) an English Rashi translation please! While there are lots of Apps that display the text of the Tanakh, I was looking around for something different. I wanted an App which would display the Tanakh in the traditional way, left and right justified text, parashiot, Hebrew chapter and verse markings, and make the text look attractive and beautiful as it does in a printed Tanakh. This simple App really does that, and the Hebrew text display looks amazing in both the iPhone and iPad! Well done Davka! It could be improved if the text could also display large and small letters, inverted letters, raised letters, etc but maybe that could be done in a future update... ### 5/5 — Superb app!! *2013-08-23* This app was made solely with the user in mind. It works very well. Has translation on all of tanach for fraction of what they could charge. My favorite part: you can type any word and a massive search will come up containing any time the word is used in tanach. You can also narrow the search to a specific Sefer. In the search, I typed “genesis” and got the message that “genesis” was not found in Tanach. Not worth having it. I’m unloading it now. ### 1/5 — Search is unusable! *2011-08-09, version 1.2* The search features of this app were written beyond poor. Searching for a phrase leaves you with unwanted results. ### 2/5 — Great but not fully in English *2016-05-12, version 1.5* Sure it's in English but if you want to just find, say the Book of Isaiah you need to know Hebrew. Am I expected to scroll from Genesis to the 42nd chapter of Isaiah if I want to go there? Maybe I'm missing something ### 2/5 — Ok *2015-01-26, version 1.5* It's not a great translation. It leaves out words when translating, and sometime it will add an extra few words that aren't in the pasuk. Only in the 'book' section the search works. ### 2/5 — Disappointed *2014-06-04, version 1.4* This week is Shavuot and I went to look up and prepare myself for a family reading of the ten commandments… to my surprise the English translation of this version has taken on that of the King James Bible, in that it uses the words “thou shall not kill” instead of the proper “thou shall not murder”. These words have fundamentally different meanings and it leads me to wonder what other portions have been creatively edited to further degrade the Torah. Thou shall not add nor subtract from the laws of G_D. ### 3/5 — Need technical support *2017-04-04* I recently purchased this app, and I cannot seem to find a way to highlight selected passages. I like the side by side English and Hebrew reading feature. I need highlighting capability. I used free Bible apps, and they all seem to have that standard. It is well crafted, smooth, quick (including search), and pretty to boot. Thank you! Update: Great to have this updated - after 6 years of no updates. I’ve used it the last 6 years, wondering if it will eventually become obsolete and unusable by an iOS update. That would have been a pity because this app is so good. Happy that we’ll have this for another few years.
