I'm currently on my second playthrough several years later and having just as much fun. The plot is fantastic, and I didn’t expect it AT ALL. I need a sequel. Maybe where they find where Penelope went, or find the missing five. Maybe even capture the mystids that got loose. This is me, two years later. I played the demo for The Mermaid Mask, which is the sequel, and I’m already loving it. The characters have the same vibe, ( Sally still is my favorite ), and I love the 3D interaction with clues that wasn’t there in TT. I really hope this game comes out soon so I can play it for three days straight. Also, at the end of the demo, I tried to leave the room, and Grimoire said “it seems we can’t leave this room, it’s the end of the demo”. The wonderful story, art and nostalgic music make it my favorite game series of all time. I don’t wanna hurry the developers, but please finish the third game in the series, I am eager to play it! I also love nautical themes as that seems to be the style of the new game. I got a friend to play it and most of my family, and of course I’ve also played secret of the swamp. You come across a lot of objects but you don’t really have an inventory and you can’t use the items you get. Lots of dialogue and rooms, and you have to essentially click on every square inch of the screen to see if every single object in the room is useful. When I want to check something out by clicking on it, I just get a gabfest of boring conversation meant to be witty. Often when I click on something, I’m told to check out something else first. After a lot of this, I really did not want to click on anything! The game is extremely linear. There is no motion or perceived movement from one scene to another - you must always open the map and click on the destination you are told to visit next. And the talk, talk, talk… Much to tiresome for me. ### 3/5 — Unsatisfactory ending *2023-11-14, version 1.0* The game has really nice graphics, great characters and good dialogue. However, the ending did not make sense and it felt too far fetched. We didn’t really solve it either as the person just admitted to the crime. It did not all come together quite as nicely you would expect in the end. I wish there was more of an aspect to come to your own conclusions and leads rather than the game constantly telling you what you need to do. With some improvements, it would definitely be a great game (hopefully a longer one) ### 4/5 — Worth the Journey *2025-11-30, version 1.0* The art, investigation and world-building is what I was incredibly happy to spend my money on. There were so many amazing points in the story that when I realized the game was wrapping up, I was shocked - a bunch of small plot threads were left hanging and I was left feeling disappointed with how rushed it was and the confession felt more like an info dump that didn’t really answer the questions I wanted to know the answers to the most. SPOILER QUESTIONS: What was with the love triangle? And the weird rose petal note? All we got was that it was a red herring in the gallery notes, but why? Where did the red “paint” originate from? What was up with the three sets of notes/symbols? Why was the feather in the incinerator? What was up with the broken bars in the roof garden? Why were the Hawkshaw drawings and the photo of Freya’s painting in her room? What was even up with that painting? Who left that clue in the garden? The puzzle aspect of this game is limited not particularly challenging. But the graphics, dialogue and narrative are great!
