## What is Tap Delay?

Back in the “old days”, producers and engineers created delay and echo effects using tape machines. Tap Delay combines the warm sound of vintage tape echo machines with a modern, step sequencer-like tapped delay engine which continues the tradition of the tape echo machines into the 21st century.

The Tape simulation includes all relevant aspects for the recreation of a faithful analog tape sound:

• Compression and Saturation
• Tape hiss
• Tape head bias
• Wow and Flutter (Tape speed instability)
• Smooth speed / delay time changes

Three feedback filters with hipass/lowpass and bandpass characteristic simplify the creation of authentic dub echo effects.

The built-in Limiter allows for endless feedback sounds.

Use live input from any source - Microphone, Guitar, Audiobus and Inter App Audio - or take a song from your iTunes library for processing.

Features:

• Multi-tap delay machine
• 24 taps for rhythmic delay effects
• Tape simulation ( Saturation, Noise, Flutter )
• Alias free tape saturation through oversampling.
• MIDI controllable including Tempo sync
• Delay loop equalizer for dub effect.
• Glitch free simulation of variable tape speeds.
• Spatial echo rotation effect.
• Audiobus 3 compatible with state saving
• IAA compatible ( Auria, Cubasis, Garageband ).
• AudioUnit AUv3 with parameter automation.
• Ableton Link.
• Integrated iTunes player.

## Key features

- Multi-tap delay machine
- 24 taps for rhythmic effects
- Tape simulation (Saturation, Noise, Flutter)
- MIDI controllable
- Live input processing

### 2/5 — Needs urgent update

*2025-02-24*

Was one of my favourite délays,
But now it constantly crashes in loopy pro..
Completely unusable.
Don’t buy unless they update after this review!

### 3/5 — It was a good delay

*2024-12-10*

CAN you please udpdate it crashes in aum, good delay otherwise

### 5/5 — AU seems to have been fixed on repeated reinstall.

*2023-03-16*

Ignore. Tried reinstall again, and it now works…

### 4/5 — Audio Unit size truncated in iPad Pro M1 12.9”

*2022-07-14*

Out of goodwill, happy to give this 4 stars, but the fascia of this is abruptly cut off top and bottom, as an AUv3 inside GarageBand iPadOS, and no presets exist in standalone or AudioUnit. Plus, taking the time to fill in the Developer’s website support note request, it’s not nice when it just ghosts you with a ‘404’ . I mean, it’s 3 digits, but feels like just one…anyway, hardly life or death, but there’s none of the 14 presets, and it’s not enticing as it stands, on a 12.9” device, the UI is not really up to par. Take care all.

### 4/5 — The AUV3 version kept crashing.

*2022-06-15*

It wouldn’t load into AUM as an AUV3 and initially I thought I had tried to open the IAA. I tried that next and it sounded distorted, but not in a good way. Eventually the AUV3 version did load, but I wonder why it wouldn’t to begin with and is this a bug? I’m using it on a 2017 iPad Pro and also have a 2021 Pro, but I haven’t tried it on that yet.

### 5/5 — Love this app - update

*2022-06-04*

3 years since my last review. This is still one of my go-to delays.

For long delays and loops there is NOTHING better. As an all-around delay there’s nothing better. AU capability just made it that much better. It’s just so useful! So there!!

### 5/5 — Sweet!

*2020-04-24*

Great effects, clean interface, excellent price! Thanks for taking the time to label all the features in the app when clicking the help button. So many developers just assume we all know what all these things do, now how the hell are we supposed to learn? Devs like you, helping us to goof off! Appreciate it

Buy this app while it’s still on sale! Similar apps are 5x the price

### 5/5 — Gefällt mir sehr gut

*2019-04-13*

Man ist relativ schnell drin. Klingt für mich sehr gut. Habe einige Virsyn Apps. Guter Entwickler

### 2/5 — Très bien, mais pas parfait.

*2019-03-25*

VirSyn do not remain blind and deaf !!!

### 5/5 — Schöner Filterklang!

*2018-05-08*
