### 5/5 — Simply the best

*2015-04-25, version 4.0*

A great database app. Your databases are all synced across all my devices including my Mac. The new Dropbox option is great. I can design my own database for whatever my needs are. Developers are very responsive to questions. I am a FileMaker Pro user and I love the power and simplicity of Tapforms. There is a lot of power in this app. If you are needing to keep track assets or document anything, this app is for you. Well worth your time and money. FileMaker and old bento users look no further.

### 5/5 — Great alternative for Bento

*2015-02-14, version 3.9.4*

I was an happy Bento user but since they are no longer supporting it and it doesn’t seem to work well, if at all on Yosemite, I started using Tapforms. Great program. It does almost all of what Bento does and I find it a bit more flexible for set up and forms. It’s not as user friendly as Bento but very, very close. I have it on 2 Mac’s, my iPad and iPhone and all sync well together. I’ve had one issue and Brendan responded quickly, while in vacation no less, and helped me resolve the issue. I have quite a few databases within Tapforms, all brought over neatly from Bento, using the built in Bento import.
You can print out all your forms within a database, you just have to select them all. I saw something didn’t think you could do that so wanted to clear that up.
Overall, I’m very happy and hope to use this for a long time.

### 5/5 — Tap Forms review such as it is.

*2014-11-10, version 3.9.2*

I bought Tap Forms because Filemaker was discontinuing Bento. I was looking for a good database that would meet my needs. I needed more than Contacts, but less than Filemaker Pro. I have found that Tap Forms meets my needs.

It took me a few tries to get the iCloud sync working properly, but now it works like a charm.

I would recommend this program for all those Bento users who are looking for a good database solution that does not cost an arm and a leg. Tap Forms is probably the solution for you.

### 5/5 — Absolutely Fantastic...

*2014-11-01, version 3.9.1*

Whether you need to create a simple form, or a more complex database, this app has the features to make it possible… only limited by the User’s imagination!
I have been using the Mac OS, iPhone & iPad versions for a long time now and have been thouroughly pleased. Absolutely NO problem with iCloud sync’ing until Apple changed from iCloud to iCloud Drive, and the developer had the OS X Yosemite version ready to resolve that as well. Speaking of the Developer, it has been literally like having a “friend” responding quickly to my questions… Thank you!

### 5/5 — Beats FileMaker

*2014-10-10, version 3.9*

Tap Forms is what Bento should have been and also what FileMaker should be when it comes to individuals. I want to build databases that only I will use, and I want them to run on my Mac, iPad, and iPhone, and I want them to sync as seamlessly as possible. I struggled with Filemaker but as soon as my databases had more than a few dozen records, they would not sync with Dropbox or email. You really need a server for FileMaker to sync properly which means it’s a great program for businesses but not for individuals like me.

Tap Forms is incredibly easy to use yet is very robust with features. It syncs like a charm through iCloud. I love it. I don’t miss Bento, and I won’t miss expensive upgrades with FileMaker.

I can’t recommend this program too highly. Tap Forms and Scrivener are my two favorite programs.

### 5/5 — An excellent database/File manager

*2014-07-07, version 3.8.3*

I use Tap Forms to keep records of everything. This App is exceptional for creating inventories. With this App you create and locate the fields where they work best for you. You can attach all the documents and notes as needed. Also you can attach more than one picture. The only weakness I have found thus far is with matching fields with my database fields and the fields from .cvs files I import. The ability to use my databases on all my Apple devices is better than sliced bread! Tap Forms has come along way since I first installed many years ago.

### 5/5 — Absolutely the bast database app by far!!!!

*2014-04-20, version 3.7.1*

I have downloaded, paid for and tried soooo many database apps and they all fall short. Either they are just poorly designed or the require way too many taps and too much navigation to easily input data or they don't sync across devices very well. Well, this app cures ALL that! I am using it to store client data for my business as well as most all of my personal stuff, all in one place! I was able to consolidate data from at least 3 other apps here and it is sooo easy to use! It's not cheap once you buy all the versions but like a fine Mercedes Benz or Porsche, it's worth the money. If you want something excellent that does the job and does it well, but this app!

### 5/5 — Really love this app

*2014-04-19, version 3.7.1*

I bought Tap Forms for Mac, iPhone and iPad so I can keep track of various things for personal use and my small business. I love the versatility and customizability and the fact that I can keep my data synced across all 3 devices. The one thing I can’t do is create custom layouts for the iPad so I can view my data in different formats like I can do on the Mac, but they tell me that’ll be implemented in a future update. Also their customer support is stellar, quick & friendly responses to all my questions. I highly recommend this app!

### 5/5 — Best DIY Database, hands down!

*2014-04-05, version 3.7.1*

I've used several db tools over the years, including Filemaker, Access, HanDBase, and others. However, nothing comes close to Tap Forms for creating clean, simple, and easy to use databases within minutes. And don't let the simplicity fool you. This is one powerful app, with beautiful screens, numerous data types, and fast, seamless synching via iCloud.

In addition, the user support is outstanding. Questions are answered on a timely basis and suggestions/enhancements are taken into consideration and applied whenever possible. Unlike other apps, an update from Tap Forms is a welcome event, usually consisting of even more functionality than you thought possible from the current version.

That said, what are you waiting for? Try it today! If you're an organized person, you're gonna love this app.

### 5/5 — Must have database app

*2014-03-08, version 3.7.1*

Even though I have (had) Bento and have FMP 12, the iCloud sync options that TF HD provides makes this the ideal solution for sharing my database among iPad, iPhone, and two laptops. The ability to duplicate records on the iPad is an important feature for me, as I'm currently documenting my home wiring. To go from outlet/switch/light and set one record with the breaker number, amperage, etc, then duplicate only changing device ID, makes it a breeze. Then I can go back to the Mac and print detailed reports of what's on each breaker because of seamless iCloud sync.

### 4/5 — Great little database

*2014-03-05, version 3.7.1*

I have this on my iMac at home and at work, my iPod Touch and my work iPad3 and my home iPad mini. Synching with iCloud makes this better, for my uses, than Bento, which I loved for years, but FileMaker stopped development of it, which is the death sentence for any app. Bento is now legacy software, and TapForms is the best replacement I've found.

All my Bento databases transferred well (and I had a LOT of them, some with relational links) and I've made a couple more in TapForms.

It's not as pretty as Bento, but it functions well. At work, it tracks the history of the PCs I support linked to the people who use them. At home, it keeps all the contra dances I call, plus the history of all the programs of dances I've called. It even has my complete annotated Klingon dictionary.

It keeps track of my keys and what they open, and my circuit breakers and what they electrify.

If you need a list to refer to for anything (not just a todo list) then this will do it for you, and you'll have it with you on a all your devices, automatically updated. You trigger the update on one device, and all of the devices automatically get the new data.

### 5/5 — Who needs Bento

*2014-03-05, version 3.7.1*

I have used Bento for iPad for the past couple of years and I found the app useful, although I couldn't the database exactly the way I wanted.
Then when I heard that Bento was on its way out, I looked for a replacement. I wasn't sure that Tap Forms would do what I need but decided to try it out. To my surprise it does that and much more! With its relational data and inverse linking, I can get it to do everything I ever wanted. I highly recommend it, not as a replacement to Bento, but as a much better option.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2019-10-18, version 4.0.9*

This is not my idea of customizing forms. I see no manual. Refund, Refund Refund!!!

### 2/5 — I was warned, now you are too.

*2011-04-29, version 2.0.2*

Tap Forms crashes a lot. Would like to go 2 1/2 stars because there is huge potential here. It just isn't very stable right now. There seems to be a niche for this type of application and there doesn't appear to be a lot of competition yet. There is HanDBase, it was buggy on the Palm Pilot and it sounds like it still is. Bento which isn't as feature rich as Tap Forms. Finally FileMaker Go on the high end. Tap Forms is every bit as good looking as Bento, I think, and if Tap Forms can deliver the goods it could be a strong contender at this price range. Other database applications are sure to come, after all, it looks like the iPad is going to stay around for a while. let's hope that the next release of Tap Forms is stable.

### 3/5 — Sync settings

*2017-01-31, version 4.0.7*

I just bought a new iPad mini 4 and tried without success to sync it with my iPhone. Both devices have version 4.0.7.
I used the same password for both devices but the iPhone says it is invalid.
Please help.

### 3/5 — Yet another cloud subscription - ARRRGGG!

*2016-12-28, version 4.0.7*

First let me say that I LOVE Tap Forms. It reminds me of the old Symantec Q&A. Simple, yet powerful. Maybe as nice as the old venerable Lotus Approach.

I've been using Tap Forms for several years now, and it fits the bill for all of my filing needs. No, it isn't a Filemaker Pro replacement. It doesn't try to be. But for the most complicated and complex databases, this workes wonderfully. Really.

Being notified of the version 5 upgrade, I paid the very reasonable fee for the upgrade. However, I was surprised to learn that syncing no longer worked, and to enable it, I must purchase yet another subscription service. Enough already!!! Everyone and their uncles are subscribing me into the poor house!

So . . . I've deleted the version 5 of Tap Forms and returned to the 4.x version, which syncs using the iCloud that I already have.

If there was an option for version 5 of Tap Forms to use iCloud, then I would have given it a 5-Star rating.

If you don't mind yet another subscription service, then you can't go wrong getting Tap Forms 5.

**Developer response:** Cloudant sync is for all intents and purposes free. They provide a generous amount of free activity that nobody I know has ever exceeded in a month period. Also in Tap Forms 5.1 I've added iCloud sync as a new sync option. Version 5.1 is currently in beta testing and I hope to release it within the next few weeks. Stay tuned!

### 3/5 — Buggy, Flawed, But Good

*2016-08-17, version 4.0.7*

I have been using Tap Forms for a long time. It is the best database app for average people to use. I was excited about the upgrade. I don't love having to get yet another account to sync between devices. And right now it is buggy (I can't close one database and open another.)

### 3/5 — Good

*2014-11-10, version 3.9.2*

There is no doubt that this program has advanced database abilities. You can save search criteria to reuse again. You can do a search through all databases or just within the one you're in. It has a very rich set of field types including audio and relational.
I wish it had some of the features of Bento which was discontinued. That had the ability to design form layouts. It also had a very useful List view that showed many columns of data and a full form view below it. I'd give Tap Forms a 5 rating if it had those very desirable features. It also would be nice to sync locally from your iPhone / iPad to the Tap Forms on a Macbook over Wi-Fi instead of having to go through iCloud.

### 3/5 — Like it but frustrated sometimes

*2012-11-03, version 3.0.3*

Wish that when I make a new field on a form, that it will show the entire title description (longer sentences) on the finished form. Also sometimes hard to locate things when making a new form, because of how everything is set up and described in the program, I think one field type will do what I want it to, or the field settings I can change what I need to to make it work right and its not what I thought it should do. Takes a great deal of playing around. There has to be a slightly better set up or easier way. But I like it and I like the idea of what it can do!

### 4/5 — Love version 4; 5 not so much

*2017-01-04, version 4.0.7*

I am not a power user but I do use Tap Forms daily for personal, work related, and record keeping I do for a non-profit. For me iCloud syncing worked flawlessly. I upgraded to 5 at it's release and attempted to sync using both Cloudant and the local syncing option. I had no success with either. The Cloudant fees also concerned me although I did not use the service to approach $50 month fee allowance provided. I immediately returned to version 4. Not sure why iCloud syncing was abandoned but that has proven to be a deal breaker for me. Took one star away because of usability issues with version 5.

**Developer response:** iCloud sync is coming to Tap Forms 5.1 in a few weeks time. Stay tuned!

### 4/5 — Great app but...

*2016-09-20, version 4.0.7*

I love this app, use it all the time but it REALLY needs multi-tasking support. Multi-tasking for the iPad has been out for quite a while now and I feel that at this point, this feature should have already been implemented within this app. Please add support for this as soon as possible!

### 4/5 — Bluetooth keyboard issue

*2014-10-08, version 3.9*

When you have a passcode set and have your bluetooth keyboard on the security screen appears as it should but on the iPhone version the unlock button when clicked or the enter key does not work and on the iPad version the unlock doesn't appear nor does the enter key work. You have to turn off your keyboard to login and once in the keyboard will work. There also appears to be a problem with syncing. Before any changes to forms were synced as well but that is not happening on at least one form I changed on my iPhone, only the data is syncing less the added fields. Please fix this.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — The BEST IOS Database app

*2016-08-11, version 4.0.7*

TapForms is the best database app for IOS hands down. It has just been upgraded to version 5 and I am impressed with it's improvements. I had used TapForms a long time ago, but stopped mainly due to it's awkward syncing process. Version 5 adds a new 3rd party syncing process that so far has been working flawlessly. Other improvements are welcomed as well. The developer's focus and response iOS excellent. If you are looking for a database app, or want to upgrade an older version of TapForms, I recommend it. There was not much wrong with it before, it's even better now.

### 5/5 — Sticking with this over the new one!

*2016-08-11, version 4.0.7*

This version is great. Based on the reviews I've read, and the fact that purchased both this app and the app for my Mac within the past 8 months or so, I refuse to spend the money to buy the new one. Even FileMaker didn't make me buy the new version when I purchased Bento less than a year before the new version came out. Great product, disappointing developers.

### 5/5 — INCREDIBLE!

*2016-02-17, version 4.0.5*

This software solution is absolutely incredible! I use it daily on my MacBook Pro, iPad & iPhone to manage all my contacts, prospects & customers. It sync extremely well between all my devices and imported all my records from Numbers and Excel.
And the support is unlike any other! This developer ALWAYS responds to my questions & concerns! Where else do you get that?
And most importantly, it is priced right so there is no excuse to not have it! It is by far the best CRM software out there at a great price!
Now, quit looking and get it!

### 5/5 — Perfect sized solution

*2016-01-24, version 4.0.5*

Was looking for a simple, basic database to manage all the various bits of information on the products I sell. Got bot the iPad and Mac versions. It is pretty quick to set up (though I still get a little frustrated stumbling around). Support is great. I had an issue with crashing (Mac) when I trying to set up a form. Sent a email and got an immediate response and they sent out an updated version that corrected the bug. Importing and exporting is easy. Creating calculated fields (like to calculate profit and margins) is a breeze. Pretty easy to sync via drop box (I think I hate iCloud) Never used Bento so I can't compare but this is a perfect solution for me

### 5/5 — This app is awesome

*2015-12-29, version 4.0.5*

I have been using tap forms for quite some time now. I use it for everything. The latest version is great. There was a bug in the program that had bothered me for some time. I thought I would email the company and report it. Wow. The same day or early the next he responded to my problem and after a couple of emails to understand what was going on he said he would take care of it. With in a week or so a new update was out with the fix! Great program. Great customer support. Something you don't see to much in the app world.

### 5/5 — A cool database

*2015-11-05, version 4.0.4*

I have had this database program for a while now ever since Bento was abandon
It missis some of the features from bento but it was never promised to be a bento. Learning to do some things differently was not much of a problem the program makes data bases relatively easy to set up. It does a great job I don’t know what I would have done without it. While standing in line at the pharmacy, I quickly put together a database that will allow me to say what day where I am and when did I start waiting. I click a botton and it tells me how much time waisted in line. Over the past few days I have totaled up waisted time in lines. It was a lot more than I ever thought. I have the one for my iMac to. My business information from there is automatically updated on my phone so I’m never at a loss when someone ask me questions about their project. . I love this app

### 5/5 — Awesome App

*2015-10-27, version 4.0.3*

I've managed our high school class database for over 20 years (over 550 classmates). I started with an excel spreadsheet then graduated to Bento. Bento was great and so easy to use. When it was discontinued I was concerned I wouldn't find a suitable replacement. I tried numerous software/apps and settled on TapForms. I have seen it develop into so much more than Bento ever was (for a while I was using both, specifically because in the beginning Tap Forms didn't support labels - now it does so I don't need Bento). TapForms allows me to store contact info for mailings, info & pictures for name tags, keep track of money received for reunions, keep track of menu choices for reunions and so much more! Besides all of the functionality it provides, Tap Forms has the absolute best customer service I've had the pleasure of experiencing. Definitely 5 stars!!!!

### 5/5 — Great app, exceptional support

*2015-10-08, version 4.0.3*

First, the support part. I ran into a problem with sync on one of my Macs. The developer replied almost immediately, and late in the day. It took some effort and all the responses were very fast and helpful. I wish everyone did support like this.

The app itself works great. I came over from Bento when that product was discontinued. After a little learning curve, I’m doing everything I need to and finding a few new things that are helpful. The app is super-easy to use, being pretty much like laying out text/spaces on a piece of paper or in a word processing application. No technical effort needed at all. There are some powerful features though that make it quite useful for many tracking, inventory, form, and similar needs.

### 5/5 — Better than Bento

*2015-09-24, version 4.0.2*

I had used Bento for many years, and was disappointed to learn when they were getting rid of it. I downloaded a number of alternate database apps that I hoped would be similar to Bento. After reviewing four of them, I hit upon Tap Forms and knew it was the one. Powerful, easy to use, ability to import all Bento lists, have all the Import/Export features that I need.

Syncs well with IOS devices which is a necessity for me. Cusomter service is the best I’ve ever experienced with a third party app developer. My emails are answered very quickly, and my questions have always been answered. The PDF User’s Manual, for both Mac and IOS, is very well done…but now and then there’s a detail that I can’t find. The developer listens…many customer ideas end up in the next update of the app! Extremely professional, personal and knowledgeable staff.

This is the one!

### 5/5 — My Favorite!

*2015-05-11, version 4.0*

I've reviewed Tap Forms before with 5 stars probably a year ago or so. It keeps improving so much I just had to do it again. The last updates for both IOS and Mac brought in some nice very additions. Seems like every time I think of a feature that would be nice to have it shows up on an update. This developer is so proactive and responsive.

If you're looking for a solid database to take in the slack between the 'too simple' flat file systems and the complicated over-kill systems, check out this app. It's thoughtfully designed, which is no surprise considering its developer.
