I can monitor, start it, stop, and edit it everything from my my mobile phone. It’s worth the $5 bucks a month!!! ### 5/5 — Love my TAP controller and this app. *2024-06-04* I’ve had my jenken kiln with a tap controller for a year now and I just ordered the TAP upgrade for my Evenheat kiln. Scott at SDS was very patient with me when I initially had problems connecting to the WiFi. We finally solved the problem and I have loved using the app. Make sure to pay for the upgrade as the best features are available then. I can start my kiln from the app, and I can also make on-the-fly changes to the program. The best part is that I can enter unlimited programs and give them names that mean something to me. I got to the point where I was so tired of reprogramming my Evenheat that when I saw there is a kit to replace my ramp master with a TAP I jumped at the chance. I’ve also seen upgrades to the app in the past year. The team is very responsive to suggestions. They are so supportive and the customer service is great. Anytime i had a question or issue, they were on top of it and helped me immediately. Scott is wonderful. Worth every penny. Makes firing so much easier and now i dont have to get out of bed to check my kiln at night. I can just check out what’s going on in the app. It’s great. You wont be sorry working with this company. Very responsive customer service now backed up by this perfect way to program my kiln, start the process, skip steps, monitor various steps in the process, check to see what the temps are while I lie in bed. Allows me to look at all my precious schedules without bending over to look at the controller. Flawless so far ok 8 months of use. Not a single hiccup. Simply superb. They deserve the income for creating such an amazing product. Imagine you’re in jewelry production and can remote activate, change firing patterns and monitor status of your kiln all from your smart phone! Well with TAP you can do all this and it’s super simple to use. The Alarm Features on the controller it’s self are very nice as well. My location is pretty big and sometimes I will get very busy and I will forget I’m doing castings and I will here a load Beep letting me know I’m at my next stage in the firing pattern. The APPS come a long way from original version! It’s pretty much flawless now! I will always reconvened TAP to anyone who’s a jeweler doing jewelry castings. Specially those of you/us that use castable resins that are 3D Printed ! It’s essential to have a solid firing pattern. This is a great app now and I will gladly pay $50 a year to keep updates coming. If you have a tap controller , definitely worth the cost. I can also modify the firing schedule remotely after or has started. Customer service is second to none. Then the latest update eliminated the push notifications. The only way to monitor kiln temperature is to force close and restart the app. Who pushes an update that kills functionality?! To their credit, SDS is responsive to emails. They are working on a solution. ### 1/5 — Crashes all the time *2019-02-26, version 2.2* I can’t enter a schedule. The App just crashes every time. Thinking of retuning the whole unit, since it doesn’t have any of the functionality it promised. ### 1/5 — No Features *2018-10-08, version 2.2* Can not control the kiln from the app. All that can be done is just view the status and logs. The website shows: Current iOS Release Create and modify schedules remotely Remotely update kiln settings Ability to Skip Steps and Abort firings remotely Nope can not do any of this on IOS or Android. ### 1/5 — Very poor and little functionality *2017-03-13, version 1.0* The app doesn't do anything other than display the oven temp. Cannot create programs or edit them. Please come out with a full featured version. Very disappointed. ### 2/5 — Rough *2020-04-22, version 3.2.6* Doesn’t update temps. “Offline” alarms don’t work. This app is nice, when it works. Often disconnects, says IP address on kiln is disconnected. Directions given for a restart are not clear enough. Had to figure it out on my own and even that didn’t fix the problem. ### 3/5 — App worked great until update 5.5 *2019-01-26, version 2.2* I was excited to have WiFi to the kiln connected and operational with the app right up until I allowed update 5.5 to apply. Now the app gives me an error message: Error code-9807(0x-264F) err SSLX cert.chaininvalid I hope the app gets an update soon to resolve this! ### 4/5 — Works like a charm *2025-04-06* I have a TAP controller on my Evenheat LB 27. Works great but there is one thing that caused me to panic. I was midway through a heat treat when I noticed it. On the oven, the temp said 1850° F. On the app it said 1850° C. None of the past issues have come up again and using the app is now easy and makes this whole process so much better for me. As a first time kiln owner, I have nothing to compare it too, but I feel having the wifi capability is indispensable. Waited 8 months for my pottery kiln. This app is nice, when it works. I’ll be really honest, I love the APP and for those who say it should have an on and off through the app you can program and extra step you can skip step to start your schedule. That’s what I do. I love that you can update the app on the fly. I’m not sure what the no socket issues is?? I would totally pay for a more reliable service. I’m using this as a jeweler on my kiln and it’s amazing! Every jeweler who does castings needs one of these things. With resin 3D printing and castings Temp Control and Ramp is super important to achieve top quality results. I haven’t used a kiln in almost 20 years and it was nothing like this. It’s been a dream using this kiln and App. Everything is straightforward and easy to understand and navigate. Relatively small yearly or monthly fee to upgrade so you can remotely program, otherwise new programs are input on your devise controller and it’s free to use app to monitor and make changes. Customer service is amazing and patient! We’ll use for production and personal projects. All WiFi so USB/ethernet not necessary. I contacted SDS, had a response within an hour. After a couple of emails, Scott (the tech) decided to send a new circuit board—at their expense.
