## What is TapExpense?

TapExpense is the expense tracker built for people who just want to log a purchase and get on with their day — no account, no sign-up, no ads, no network required. Every expense stays on your device, in a real local database, from the very first tap.

LOG AN EXPENSE IN 5 SECONDS
Tap the + button and the amount field is already focused with the keypad up. Type an amount, pick a category and payment method from single-tap chips, save — done. Titles are optional; untitled expenses show their category. As you type, TapExpense suggests titles learned from your own history, and accepting one prefills the amount, category and payment method in a single tap — every field stays editable if it guessed wrong.

That runs entirely on-device: no AI service, no cloud model, no network call. It is a deterministic ranking of your own history by recency, frequency and time of day — fast, predictable and private.

SEE WHERE YOUR MONEY GOES
The dashboard centers on one number: what you spent today, this week, this month, this year or all time, with a chart shaped to match. Tap a bar to filter the list to that period. Reports add a category breakdown, a payment-method breakdown, a six-period trend and month-over-month deltas that name your biggest mover. Every figure is computed on-device.

FASTER THAN OPENING THE APP
• Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, including an interactive "log it again" widget that saves your most frequent expense in one tap, without launching the app
• Siri and Apple Shortcuts: "Log an expense in TapExpense", get your period total, open Quick Add, search expenses, or undo the last entry
• A guided Apple Wallet automation, so an Apple Pay tap can hand the merchant and amount straight to TapExpense

MULTIPLE PROFILES
Keep personal, business or shared spending in fully separate profiles, each with its own categories, payment methods, currency and learned suggestions. Switch in one tap.

BACKUP AND RESTORE, ON YOUR TERMS
Create an encrypted backup (AES-256-GCM) protected by your own passphrase, and preview exactly what a restore will change before anything is applied. Restores merge safely by ID, so you never lose data by mistake. Schedule automatic backups and optionally keep them in your own iCloud Drive — TapExpense never sees your files.

OPTIONAL NOTION SYNC
Mirror your expenses into your own Notion database as you log them. Entirely opt-in, with zero effect on the app if you never turn it on.

Plan ahead

Give an expense a date in the future — next month's rent, a booking you have already made — and it saves straight away but stays out of your totals and budgets until that date arrives. Upcoming entries wait in their own section at the top of the list, so next week's rent can't eat this week's budget.

Swipe between periods

Swipe left or right anywhere on the dashboard — over the chart, the cards or the list — to move to the previous or next period.

Because that gesture is now paging, swipe-to-delete on a transaction is gone. Delete has moved to the long-press menu, where it is much harder to trigger by accident.

Achievements in your own currency

Money milestones now read in the currency of the profile you are looking at, instead of always in rupees.

Fixes

• An expense entered earlier in the day but timed for later — 9am for a 7pm dinner — was treated as a future transaction and left out of today's spend and its budget until evening. Only a later date counts as upcoming now.

• The month card in Plan now says what it is summarising. It rolls up your monthly budgets instead of quietly showing a single category, and names the one you have consumed most.

All backups, in one place
Settings → Backup & data → All backups lists every backup at your destination, so you can browse and restore one without hunting through a file picker.

Switch currency, and bring your history with you
Changing currency now offers to convert everything you have already recorded at the day's rate — shown for approval, with its date, before anything changes. A backup is saved first.

Reset all data
Start over from Settings → Backup & data. A backup is saved to your device first, and the reset stops if it cannot be written.

A new app icon
Refreshed across the app, the launch screen, widgets and the watch.

Fixes
• Restoring and resetting now apply reliably
• Restored data appears immediately, without reopening the app
• Restoring a backup that adds a profile now offers to switch to it
• Picking a file that is not a backup now says so, instead of failing generically
