## What is TapFi?

Is that a capital I, a lowercase l, or a one?

You know the moment. The WiFi password is scrawled on a chalkboard, laminated in a welcome pack, or Blu-Tacked behind the kettle in the Airbnb. You type it carefully. Wrong. Three times.

TapFi ends that. Point your camera at the sign and you're connected. That's the whole app.

WHAT IT ACTUALLY DOES
TapFi reads the network name and password off almost anything: printed cards, chalkboards, stickers, receipts, and handwriting that would embarrass a doctor. Then it joins the network for you.

It also knows the ways signs lie. Spaces that aren't really in the password. Capitals that are actually lowercase. Two networks listed and no hint which one is real. TapFi quietly tries the sensible variations until one connects, and only keeps the one that actually worked.

WiFi QR codes are read instantly, on your device. Hidden networks that don't broadcast their name work too.

THEN IT GETS BETTER
Every network you join lands in an encrypted list, so next visit is one tap. And when someone asks for the WiFi, stop spelling it out across the room. TapFi turns any saved network into a clean, printable QR card. AirDrop it, save it to Photos, or print it and stick it by the door. Guests scan it with their camera. They don't need the app.

If you run a cafe, a B&B, or a spare room that's never empty, that card alone pays for the app in a weekend.

THE BORING BUT IMPORTANT BIT
Passwords live in your iPhone's Keychain, encrypted, on your device. No account. No ads. No tracking. No subscription. You buy it once, and it reads WiFi signs forever. That's the deal.

Some places write the WiFi password on a sign, then make you type it into a login page in your browser rather than into WiFi settings. TapFi used to just fail on those. Now it handles them.

- Spots when the network is actually open and the password on the sign is for a sign-in page
- Joins the network, then copies the password so all you do is paste it when the page asks
- Opens the sign-in page for you
- Tells you plainly when it can't confirm a sign-in page, rather than sending you looking for one that isn't there
- Saved networks keep a sign-in password separately from a WiFi password, so sharing one hands out the right thing

### 2.0.0 — 2026-08-08

TapFi 2.0 is a big reliability release.

- TapFi now verifies it actually joined before declaring victory, so the password it saves and shares is one that genuinely worked
- Hidden networks reconnect and re-share properly
- When a sign lists several networks, each one gets a fair try instead of the first hogging the whole attempt
- The scanner starts the moment you grant camera access, not the launch after
- Share cards keep their clean light look when exported from a dark-mode phone
- Short passwords are no longer mistaken for open networks
- More patience for slow reads, fewer pointless retries
