### 2/5 — King of the (hour) glass

*2024-03-14*

I only use this because my favorite taproom moved away from the dominant platform to this one. It takes about three launch attempts to pull down the list of local locations.

My guess would be TapHunter is running on minimal cloud compute resources as a cost savings measures. The delay is present while those resources are spun up.

### 2/5 — Layout is annoying and not useful.

*2022-11-24*

Same experience someone else mentioned. App showed me two breweries in Mexico as my closest breweries. But when I wasn’t asking, it was showing breweries near me. Seems to be good for reviewing beer, but I need the app to make sense. They need to work on their layout. I’m going to delete it

### 1/5 — Waste of space

*2021-10-20, version 4.2.5*

This app is useless, couldn’t list any beers in any pubs within 30 miles of me! Looks like someone invented this & gave up after 5 minutes.
Brilliant idea floored by some muppet!

### 1/5 — Do not download this trash app

*2021-10-17, version 4.2.5*

FR

### 1/5 — Over priced

*2021-09-05, version 4.2.5*

Wow $29.00 per month your insane. There are more apps for way less.

### 2/5 — Works for my roommate, not for me

*2021-07-15, version 4.2.5*

Thankfully this app works for my roommate, but it never send me notifications. He has been notified of 3 drops for EH Taylor, Blanton’s, and Weller Full Proof at local Davidson’s and I haven’t received any notifications. I only got bottles because his notifications work and we both work from home. We even checked our settings to make sure they match and I can’t figure out why I don’t get them… concept is there, but the execution doesn’t seem to work (for my phone)

### 1/5 — No breweries listed

*2021-05-23, version 4.2.5*

This is not an all inclusive brewery finder. It brought up one that I have never been too while failing to locate any of the 15+ breweries in my area.

### 2/5 — The app looks nice

*2020-03-05, version 4.2.1*

App is easy to use and looks great, but the database is useless, everything I looked up it couldn’t find.

### 1/5 — Unfortunate

*2020-01-20, version 4.2.1*

I had high hopes for this but found out very quickly it doesn’t work at all

### 1/5 — Deprecated?

*2019-12-28, version 4.1.6*

Seems this app hasn’t been updated in over a year. The servers don’t seem to be working anymore either. Shame. Was a cool app.

### 2/5 — Great concept if...

*2019-10-29, version 4.1.6*

Great concept if they actually had information that was useful. They need to actually have info to find your favs in local pubs and stores. This app was not helpful what so ever in all 4 attempts to use. Deleting

### 2/5 — Marginal at best

*2019-06-25, version 4.1.6*

App needs fixed. Does not work well at all. Great idea. Poor execution.

### 1/5 — Not Useful

*2019-05-18, version 4.1.6*

Apparently, no selection of beers I searched for are available on tap or bottles in my area even though I know some are. I was at a bar yesterday drinking one of my favorites but according to this app, it is never available on tap. After multiple attempts of beer searches that included LA county, I found this app to be inaccurate and useless. This app requires the developer to work a little and provide daily updates to be effective. Also, it only shows 2 bars near me in the entire county of Orange. Great idea if it were actually useful.

### 1/5 — Too often out of date

*2019-04-23, version 4.1.6*

I’ve experienced limited usefulness from TapHunter before, but finally decided to delete it after looking through Taphunter’s list of 120 beers at one of my favorite restaurants only to find out they didn’t have the one I wanted. Then the restaurant gave me suggestions from their stock that were NOT on Taphunter’s list. Inaccuracy combined with slowness and lack of filters make it just a waste of time.

### 2/5 — Black bars on newer iPhones

*2019-03-08, version 4.1.6*

On iPhones since the X, this app displays large black bars on the top and bottom, because the developer can’t be bothered to update their app. Every other app on my phone supports the whole screen except TapHunter! I like what the app does but this omission is very disappointing.

### 1/5 — Out of date TINY database

*2019-02-17, version 4.1.6*

I’m 6 blocks from Triple Rock and the nearest place it suggests is across the bay in San Francisco missing ALL of the breweries in Berkeley, Alameda and Oakland. It shows where I am it is just clueless of all the places. Worthless and uninstalled.

### 1/5 — Ummmm

*2019-01-13, version 4.1.6*

This app is useless

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not Avaialble

*2025-09-20*

App says beer not available in my area while I’m sitting here drinking it.

### 1/5 — Great idea, BUT

*2025-05-21*

The idea for this app is great — you can tell what beers are on tap at local establishments. The problem is, at least in my location (Roanoke, VA), there are NO bars that actually participate. So, you have an app that tells you where a few local bars exist, but not what they serve. Not very helpful.

### 1/5 — Almost empty of content

*2025-02-17*

Only lists one business within 10 miles of me. Seems that they charge businesses to be listed and nobody wants to pay.

### 1/5 — Useless. Completely useless.

*2024-08-02*

I had high hopes for this app but, alas, it is useless. Even in large metropolitan areas like Chicago, an area I visit regularly, there are very few establishments listed. In my home area, there are none despite it being a relatively large population center with many, many local breweries and even more places that sell beer/food.

I can’t speak to usability or accuracy of the app provided information since there were no places to select.

Don’t bother installing this unless you are certain in advance your favorite place is on it.

### 1/5 — Waste of Time

*2023-09-02*

The most useless app I’ve ever downloaded. Shows there are no beers on tap anywhere near me when there are at least 3 breweries and countless bars in my area. Not helpful at all.

### 1/5 — Not useful at all

*2023-07-20*

I was looking at the Dunedin brewery. App shows all their beers. It says no beer was available on tap or bottles near me. I live 2 miles away from the brewery. What’s the point of this app? There are 7 breweries here and it didn’t show any of them. Deleted the app.

### 1/5 — Can’t register

*2022-10-20, version 5.0.5*

I’ve tried to signup so that I can use full capacity. After adding email address and creating password it just endlessly cycles without registering. Even deleted the app and went through same process to get same result. Very frustrating!

### 1/5 — Not enough venues!

*2022-09-05*

I live in Indianapolis. Only 2 venues near me - 1 in Noblesville and 1 in Shelbyville! Hundreds of venues in Marion County aren’t searchable yet. Also looked for “Boston Red Brick Ale” in the Boston, MA area. Search came back with no venues with it on tap!! Only place this beer is available is in Boston! Not worth my time to use this app

### 1/5 — Useless

*2022-06-04, version 4.2.5*

This app is pretty pointless. There are very few restaurants and bars in the database and it can’t seem to find anything. I’d be shocked if ot could help me find a Bud Light.

### 1/5 — Broken

*2022-01-30, version 4.2.5*

This app no longer works period. Do not download it.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Gonna give it a shot

*2025-12-04*

Can’t wait to try this app out

### 5/5 — Fantastic App for Beer Lovers

*2024-11-04*

I’ve tried a few beer-finding apps, but TapHunter is by far the best. It’s like having a personal guide to all things beer right in my pocket! The app’s layout is clean, intuitive, and super easy to navigate, making it simple to locate breweries, bars, and beer events in my area. I especially love that TapHunter shows real-time tap lists, so I know exactly what’s available before I go.

Another amazing feature is the ability to save favorite beers and get notified when they’re back on tap nearby. The descriptions and user ratings for each beer are spot-on and help me find new brews that fit my taste. TapHunter is a must-have app for any craft beer enthusiast, helping me explore new breweries, discover unique beers, and even find my go-to favorites wherever I am. Highly recommend it!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2023-01-20, version 5.0.9*

I can register and login to find my favorite beer near my town. It’s very convenient. I highly recommend the app.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2017-04-16, version 4.0.3*

I like beer a lot. It's a fattening vice and I hate wasting calories on bad beer. TapHunter has solved for that dilemma. Now I drink high quality beer whenever I go out! Great app.

### 5/5 — Craft_beer_drinker

*2017-03-22, version 4.0.3*

I can't tell you how many times I've gone into a bar on a busy Friday night and have used this app to order a beer! It's so much quicker than waiting for a server to bring a menu. By the time my server gets there, I already know what I want. Every bar should be on TapHunter!

### 5/5 — Very useful

*2017-03-22, version 4.0.3*

No matter if I'm home or traveling TapHunter is my go-to when trying to find great beverages !! Massive fan

### 5/5 — LOVE TapHunter!

*2017-03-22, version 4.0.3*

If you love beer, you'll love this app! Thanks to TapHunter I've found some awesome beers (and local bars that I never knew existed) and it keeps me in the loop when new beers are added. Highly recommend! 🍻

### 5/5 — Love it!

*2017-03-22, version 4.0.3*

I'm really liking the new update, just followed a bunch of new places.

### 5/5 — Omg yes

*2017-03-08, version 4.0.2*

Such a cool way to find beers and bars in my area and during my travels !

### 5/5 — It's great if...

*2016-12-17*

This app is fantastic IF you're perusing for the current beer list at establishments you know already own & use TapHunter. You can also search for a favorite beer using this app, but once again only the establishments using TapHunter who have that beer are going to show up. This app was built as a convenience to their original service as a digital beer board at a bar/brewery. I don't waste my time rating beers, but for the dudes I know who do (and who do so passionately) I would suggest UnTappd. Hope this helps. 🍻
