It takes about three launch attempts to pull down the list of local locations. My guess would be TapHunter is running on minimal cloud compute resources as a cost savings measures. The delay is present while those resources are spun up. ### 2/5 — Layout is annoying and not useful. *2022-11-24* Same experience someone else mentioned. App showed me two breweries in Mexico as my closest breweries. But when I wasn’t asking, it was showing breweries near me. Seems to be good for reviewing beer, but I need the app to make sense. Looks like someone invented this & gave up after 5 minutes. He has been notified of 3 drops for EH Taylor, Blanton’s, and Weller Full Proof at local Davidson’s and I haven’t received any notifications. I only got bottles because his notifications work and we both work from home. We even checked our settings to make sure they match and I can’t figure out why I don’t get them… concept is there, but the execution doesn’t seem to work (for my phone) ### 1/5 — No breweries listed *2021-05-23, version 4.2.5* This is not an all inclusive brewery finder. I was at a bar yesterday drinking one of my favorites but according to this app, it is never available on tap. After multiple attempts of beer searches that included LA county, I found this app to be inaccurate and useless. This app requires the developer to work a little and provide daily updates to be effective. Also, it only shows 2 bars near me in the entire county of Orange. Great idea if it were actually useful. ### 1/5 — Too often out of date *2019-04-23, version 4.1.6* I’ve experienced limited usefulness from TapHunter before, but finally decided to delete it after looking through Taphunter’s list of 120 beers at one of my favorite restaurants only to find out they didn’t have the one I wanted. Then the restaurant gave me suggestions from their stock that were NOT on Taphunter’s list. Inaccuracy combined with slowness and lack of filters make it just a waste of time. ### 2/5 — Black bars on newer iPhones *2019-03-08, version 4.1.6* On iPhones since the X, this app displays large black bars on the top and bottom, because the developer can’t be bothered to update their app. Every other app on my phone supports the whole screen except TapHunter! I like what the app does but this omission is very disappointing. ### 1/5 — Out of date TINY database *2019-02-17, version 4.1.6* I’m 6 blocks from Triple Rock and the nearest place it suggests is across the bay in San Francisco missing ALL of the breweries in Berkeley, Alameda and Oakland. It shows where I am it is just clueless of all the places. The problem is, at least in my location (Roanoke, VA), there are NO bars that actually participate. So, you have an app that tells you where a few local bars exist, but not what they serve. Not very helpful. ### 1/5 — Almost empty of content *2025-02-17* Only lists one business within 10 miles of me. Seems that they charge businesses to be listed and nobody wants to pay. ### 1/5 — Useless. Completely useless. *2024-08-02* I had high hopes for this app but, alas, it is useless. Even in large metropolitan areas like Chicago, an area I visit regularly, there are very few establishments listed. In my home area, there are none despite it being a relatively large population center with many, many local breweries and even more places that sell beer/food. I can’t speak to usability or accuracy of the app provided information since there were no places to select. Don’t bother installing this unless you are certain in advance your favorite place is on it. ### 1/5 — Waste of Time *2023-09-02* The most useless app I’ve ever downloaded. Shows there are no beers on tap anywhere near me when there are at least 3 breweries and countless bars in my area. I live 2 miles away from the brewery. What’s the point of this app? There are 7 breweries here and it didn’t show any of them. After adding email address and creating password it just endlessly cycles without registering. Even deleted the app and went through same process to get same result. Very frustrating! ### 1/5 — Not enough venues! *2022-09-05* I live in Indianapolis. Only 2 venues near me - 1 in Noblesville and 1 in Shelbyville! Hundreds of venues in Marion County aren’t searchable yet. Also looked for “Boston Red Brick Ale” in the Boston, MA area. Search came back with no venues with it on tap!! Only place this beer is available is in Boston! Not worth my time to use this app ### 1/5 — Useless *2022-06-04, version 4.2.5* This app is pretty pointless. There are very few restaurants and bars in the database and it can’t seem to find anything. You can also search for a favorite beer using this app, but once again only the establishments using TapHunter who have that beer are going to show up. This app was built as a convenience to their original service as a digital beer board at a bar/brewery. I don't waste my time rating beers, but for the dudes I know who do (and who do so passionately) I would suggest UnTappd.
