## What is TapInPass?

TapInPass turns an iPhone into the front desk of your learning centre.

Students tap their NFC pass on the kiosk and they're checked in — a full-screen stamp confirms it, a chime plays, and the kiosk is instantly ready for the next student. Tap again on the way out and the visit closes with its duration.

• The Room: a live board of who's here right now, colour-coded by session length, with one-tap manual check-in/out and a 6-second undo

• Kiosk screens show first name and last initial only
• Staff areas are protected by centre-provisioned accounts (Sign in with Apple, Google, or email)

TapInPass is designed for tutoring and enrichment centres (Kumon-style programs, music schools, martial-arts dojos). It works alongside the TapIn web admin, where owners manage the roster, schedules, and exports. An account provisioned by your centre is required for staff features; the kiosk needs a supported iPhone (NFC) and TapIn passes.

### 1.3.1 — 2026-08-28

Fixes for centre owners setting up student tags:

• Writing a tag for a student now works when another student has the same first name and last initial. The app previously treated them as one person and offered no way to continue.
• "Set up student tags" is now available any time from Settings, not only from the prompt when the app opens.

### 1.3 — 2026-08-16

Setting up student passes is now a guided, step-by-step flow.

Choose a student, hold a blank pass to the phone, and the app writes it, verifies it, and links it to that student — then moves straight on to the next one without leaving the screen.

If a pass already belongs to another student, the app says so before it writes anything, so the same pass can never be handed to two children.

### 1.2 — 2026-08-15

A centre employee's own pass now checks them in and out at the kiosk, instead of being turned away. Faster start-up and scanning, plus fixes so a freshly installed app is ready straight away.

The Passes tab is now Manage, with separate Students and Staff sections.
Staff can be checked in and out from the app. Stability fixes for the live board.
