There are a few problems, though not as bad as this one: offline play. Playing offline for long enough causes the game to lag when playing a hard song or simply spamming the buttons. If this problem would ever be fixed, I will gladly change my rating to 5-star. Removing ads is a great addition and is cheap. I searched online for a solution and apparently I’m not the only one with the same problem. It works pretty well, although there are a few bugs that need to be fixed or a few design improvements. First, importing custom songs through a website works, but it can be a bit clunky at times. It would be great if we could also manage simfiles through the Files app, because there's been a time where a zip file would be imported incorrectly and caused the game to crash on startup, forcing me to reinstall the game. Second, adjusting the offset is a little weird because the value doesn't use the millisecond format that is seen in most other rhythm games. This means that I've tried to change the offset to 100ms and it ended up being a lot higher than that, which would make the notes appear 2 minutes after they were supposed to and I was unable to change it back. This also required a reinstallation. The other issues I have are just small nitpicks and polishes: song previews can sometimes overlap each other or skip like a CD, adding a pause button would be useful, tapping a lane causes the next note in that lane to disappear even if that note is really far away, shock notes aren't implemented, a no-fail mode would be nice, and the app causes my phone to quickly heat up. This is still a great simfile player and I would recommend this to anyone looking for a DDR phone app, but fixing these small problems would make the app even better than it already is. ### 2/5 — Has potential! [Update] *2021-08-31, version 0.8* This is the closest app I found to be like Konami's original DDR on the iPhone, back when it used to be on the 3GS. The interface is very similar - the way the arrows are displayed, the "mat", song selection screen, etc. Even though I am very impressed so far, Tapmania is still pretty bare bones with minimal song selection (that are more tunes than actual shortened songs), the layout is pretty basic. But I really think that as long as the developers keep working on improving the app, it'll gradually become a really good rhythm game to revive the genre. I even paid to remove the ads :). [Update]: doesn’t seem like the developers plan to keep working on this game. I paid around £2 for a barren, bare bones game. Kept getting error messages over and over. Tried the method suggested by the developer in a response to someone else having the same issue. Went and downloaded all of the zip files for all of my favorite DDR and ITG song packs directly to my phone. Once again, nothing would upload. Is there a way to contact the developer directly? I checked their website, but there’s no way to send any messages that I could find through there. I would like to troubleshoot this issue so hopefully one day I can play all of my favorite step charts on the go.
