You have to pull it straight down like a key lock or combination. This probably saves battery life. After activating it, I let it sit in a drawer for about a year. Once I got my organization together I got the Tapp Lock out of the drawer and to my surprise, it was working just like the day I activated it! I have since purchased 2 more and will complete my systems with assurance that the Tapp Locks will be there when I need them. I tried to register it through the app via Bluetooth but it won’t sync. I attempted to troubleshoot and resolve the issue myself but I haven’t had any success. ### 1/5 — Enttäuschend – keine Verbindung möglich, kein Support *2025-05-09, version 3.4.3* Ich habe ein gebrauchtes Tapplock Lite gekauft. Obwohl es vom Vorbesitzer aus dem Account entfernt wurde, lässt es sich nicht per Bluetooth verbinden – ständig kommt die Meldung „Bluetooth Connected Failed“. Die App erkennt das Schloss, aber es bleibt im Status „Disconnected“. Alle Schritte (Reset, App neu, Standortfreigabe etc.) wurden versucht – ohne Erfolg. Der eigentliche Skandal ist aber der Support: • 3 E-Mails geschickt • Nachricht über Instagram • Kontaktformular auf der Website ausprobiert → keine einzige Antwort seit Wochen. So ein Verhalten ist inakzeptabel, gerade bei einem Sicherheitsprodukt. Website can’t access too ### 1/5 — Could be great, but required location services is bad *2020-11-24, version 3.3.1* First off, I LOVE TappLockOne+ device. The locks are excellent quality, they work amazingly well, and are simply incredible piece of tech. The original TappLock was higely flawed, but the TappLockOne+ (PLUS!) (current model) is incredible, period. Make sure to only get newest one. There is also a separate Shacklegard ($25) and worth every cent, since it protects it against further against cutting with deadbolts. I hate the TappLock app, however. Here is why. They violate your privacy in a gross and unnecessary manner. First you have to register... fine. Then verify e-mail... ok, fine. But then, it requires you turn on bluettoth (which is fine), data (why?), and worst of all, location services (GPS tracking). Why is it required to have Location Services active to operate the app and install fingerprints unto the locks? They force you to do this to set-up the lock fingerprint function, even though the onyl way to communicate with locks is via BlueTooth!! It makes no sense. The locks CANNOT be opened remotely, unless you are within distance of the lock itself (bluetooth, about 10-12 feet), it will not open remotely. So why require location services? It is for spying and monitoring reasons only. There is a way to limit this location tracking abuse, though. Turn OFF cell services, use WiFi (with proxy if available), set locations services (under Privacy) to “on” but be sure settings are “while using app”. Set up fingerprints, then turn OFF app, turn OFF location services and take lock to its final destination. You can even block Location Services for the app later as well, especially if you will be unlocking via fingerprints only (phone is not needed at all). Could be great, but required location services is a needless requirement designed to violate people’s privacy and continue in the police-state tradition of total monitoring. If I knew location monitoring was required, I would have bought a different product. Why else would you need active tracking of a LOCK?? It is absurd and straight out of “1984.” 1 out of 5 stars due to this terrible spying requirement. ### 1/5 — RUN! Buyer Beware! CHEAP, POOR QUALITY *2020-11-14, version 3.3.1* Tapplock is a complete waste of money. The product is subpar, the customer service is worse. The app itself is rudimentary and basic at best. Save your money and don’t get taken by Tapplock! Buyer beware! ### 1/5 — bogus *2020-10-23, version 3.3.0* app does not work. can’t open my locks!!!!!! ### 1/5 — Sad excuse for a “smart lock” *2020-09-10, version 3.3.0* I was really excited about this lock because I always forget something in my locker at the gym and the classic dial locks get old real fast. FINALLY I don’t have to spin the dial around like crazy and mess up my combination only to start over again. Now I can just put my finger on it and BAM! But no that’s not what happened. Spent $100 on this thing, downloaded the app, got it connected, and that’s as far as the app has gotten me. It won’t load finger prints into the lock so I can’t unlock it with a fingerprint and even though it’s connected to my phone while in Bluetooth mode it still won’t unlock using the app. I can’t even delete the lock from my account to reconnect and start over. I’m extremely disappointed in this because I was crazy excited about this thing and it doesn’t even work after spending the amount of money I did on it. There’s zero option for setting it up without the app and the instructions it comes with are an absolute joke that tell you nothing about how to get started using it, only how it operates. You’ve let let me down in a big way Tapp. ### 1/5 — UTTER GARBAGE *2020-07-20, version 3.2.9* Bought the Tapplock One Plus, downloaded the app and followed instructions to set it up. Once the lock is connected via bluetooth, the app will not let me register my fingerprint. It keeps popping up with an error message “fingerprint enrollment has timed out, please try again.” Repeated this process multiple times and getting really frustrated. This padlock cost me $150.00 CAD and since the app that it relies on to lock/unlock it is not working, the padlock is now completely useless. Though I have not yet attempted to contact the company about this issue, I fear they will not exchange the lock or do anything to resolve this issue. Huge waste of money and a huge headache! Can’t even use my lock :( ### 1/5 — Buyers beware ! *2020-03-02, version 3.2.8* I have purchased my 1st unit August of last year and buy 2 months it stopped working, the company sent me a NEW and APPROVED unit and low and behold it’s not working again. I use this unit outdoors and it would be better to go get a pad lock and go on your way. I have a lock on my fence now I cannot get off so wish me luck.
