TappyType turns your handwriting into a Korean font, right on your iPad with Apple Pencil. Watch a live preview fill up with your writing as you go, then export a real font file (.ttf).

How it works
  1. Write characters along the guides — baselines and tracing hints help you.
  2. The live preview instantly renders sentences in your handwriting.
  3. Finish the basic set, then one tap of AI Generate fills in 2,000+ remaining Hangul characters in your style.
  4. Export as .ttf and use it anywhere fonts work: GoodNotes, Procreate, Keynote, Word.

AI Generate
Korean has 11,172 syllables, which made handwriting fonts notoriously hard to make. TappyType's AI learns your style from the characters you write and draws the rest to match. A few characters are enough for a complete font.

Your data stays yours
Writing, preview, and font building all happen on your iPad. Only when you use AI Generate, handwriting images are sent to our server — processed in real time and immediately discarded, never stored. No accounts, no ads, no tracking.

Write just a few letters, and AI fills in the rest in your own hand.

- The generated letters now show right inside each cell. You can see at a glance which ones came out great and which need a touch, so getting to a handwriting you love is faster.
- Tap any letter in the grid to jump straight into editing it.
- Fixed a crash that could close the app when you tapped AI fill on a font with a lot of letters already written. It now finishes no matter how much you have written, and it gets started faster too.
- Refined the pencil weight and the collapse and expand controls for a smoother flow, plus small bug fixes.

- Pencil mode: the pen draws a clean, even line, while the pencil changes thickness with how hard you press your Apple Pencil — for a natural, hand-drawn feel.
- Faster letter design: when drawing letters one at a time, flip through the basic characters with Previous and Next.
- Fixed small bugs and improved stability.

- Learn as you write: trace fun Korean sentences to build your font. Key characters fill in naturally, and every sentence shows its meaning.
- Draw each letter: pick any character from the full set and draw it by hand, one at a time. You can also touch up AI-filled letters until they feel right.
- Tappy AI Fill: write just a few Hangul characters and Tappy fills in the rest in your style. AI letters now match the pen weight you wrote with.
- Make a postcard: write a handwritten message over a photo or pastel background in your own font, then save to Photos or share.
- Export a real font: export your finished font, install it, and use it everywhere.
- Pen ends are tidied automatically and writing cells now have a little breathing room, so your handwriting looks cleaner.

A quick fix update for the rough edges

- Fixed the editor getting cut off on the sides on iPhone. The top bar is now two rows, so the font name is fully visible and the preview and tools fit the screen.
- Fixed the keyboard not coming up when you tap the live preview field. Type your bias's name or your own right away.
- Fixed AI fill not reaching the server when completing the rest of your Hangul.
- You can now tap anywhere on a font card in the list to open it.
- Tidied up the first-run tour being clipped at the top of the screen.

### 1.4 — 2026-06-17

Make alphabet fonts too, with a more delightful start

- English-only mode: when you start a new font, choose between Hangul-included and English-only. Want just the alphabet? Pick English-only and finish a Latin handwriting font right away, no Hangul required.
A livelier first screen: open the app and Tappy bounces in to greet you. The how-to guide now spotlights the actual buttons, so you can see exactly where to tap.
- More fun as you write: Tappy celebrates with a new expression each time you collect a batch of letters, with pronunciation hints on the canvas to make Hangul easy to trace even if it's new to you.
- Tidier settings: turn sound effects on or off, with help and settings now neatly separated. You can replay the app intro anytime.
- A more accurate first stroke: the very first line you draw now registers the moment your pen touches the screen.
