Like the app but as someone who keeps albums organized I wish we could get that as an option too , also if we could get a full dark mode background would be great as well, other than that really like the player reminds me of iOS 6 music player.

This is an excellent player if you own a lot of music, yet still don’t know what to listen to. Just shake (or click) to get a partial selection of albums and feel inspired. Alternatively just listen to a random album by the same way.

-1 Star due to bug: When you press „play album“ it always plays the album shuffled although there is a separate „shuffle album“ button. The shuffle function appears to be on all the time and you have to deselect it every time, which is annoying. (5 stars on fix)

It looks and feels great and the grid view of all your albums is great. Some people may not like it, but I love that the album order is randomized so it shows me something different when I don't know what to listen to. When I do however, the search function and recently played albums are immediately accessible. The app is generally fast and it's animations are smooth and tactile. 

There aren't any make or break bugs for me, but occasionally I have to force quit to get it to work and for whatever reason the game changes your loop playback setting to what it feels like sometimes. Honestly my main issue is that I feel like I have to live with any bugs the app has forever, because I'm not sure if we're going to get another update. Please David, come back to this app, it's fantastic! I would gladly pay a small yearly subscription for it.

I love the random display of album art and customizations for rediscovering albums I haven’t played in so long! But, when I tap on the cover of a song that has lyrics attached, how do I get back to the cover? I can’t dismiss the lyrics. No combination of taps or swipes gets me back to the album view. Is it a bug?

I may have misunderstood the TapTunes functionality but I am greatly disappointed. 

The app does not manage your music, it attaches to Apple Music to access your music. Every time you open the app it starts as it was never opened, instead of opening where you last closed it...I would prefer it would open at the song I am playing so I don’t have to search for it once again.

The app accesses your Apple playlists, listing the songs but there is no way to play the list one song at a time, the very definition of a “playlist”.

This app is NOT for me....waste of energy attempting to learn it.

色々使ってきたけどやっぱり最高！
ただ、歌詞を表示すると戻らなくなる（再生したままでもアプリ終了→ホームダブルタップ→アプリ削除→アプリ再起動で正常に戻る※これでも音は途切れない）不具合が非常に困っています。
強いて言えばイコライザーとか付けてくれると嬉しいです。

The randomness is nice but often I would like to listen to my playlist in order.  The problem I encounter with playlists is that it will only play one song then stop right there.  The next song in my playlist does not auto play.  I have to go back to the selection screen and select the next album.  My second complaint is the 3-5 sec buffer.  If you accidentally play the wrong song, you are waiting for the song to play, go full screen, then it will allow you to go back.  Fixing these two things would make this the best 3rd party music app.  It’s by far better than Apple’s but on it’s own, just shy of perfection for me.

This was my favorite music app because it had a dark gray background I could use at night to listen to music when going to bed and not expose myself to bright blue light computer screen which disrupts circadian rhythms and makes it harder to fall asleep. Now in the latest 2022 version the background is bright cream white and there does not appear to be a Setting to change it back to dark theme mode. If you want to provide bright background as the display default that's fine but at least give your existing users a preference option to change it back to original dark background. Yet another iOS app I relied on for years then a change was made that makes it unusable for my purposes, oh well, DELETE!

The reason I pie did this useless app is to ditch the garbage player that Apple provided, and eliminate the auto play when connecting to BT in the car.

Yet the app does not play anything WITHOUT the Apple Music app installed.

You can delete the Apple Music app, then re-sync to get music on the device. Tap tunes sees the music, but will not play anything.

Why build an app that depends on the trash we are paying to replace!!??

So I search the web for a player that will play mp3s that I download to my iPhone and taptunes shows up all over the place as THE best iPhone music player. I pay for it. Install it. And it isn’t picking Up the damn music files! And no way to search for them from the app to pick them up. No help file.  Thank God I just lost 3 bucks!!

I really wanted to like this app, as it appeared to be the best alternative to the default. The concept of the different views are brilliant, if only the app's core functionality worked well. Upon selecting or switching to any song, the entire app freezes, sometimes for up to 5 seconds at a time. Don't like the next song you skipped to? Well you better be ready to tolerate the intro while the GUI is frozen. Even when a song is playing, many of the animations at the heart of user interaction are evidently choppy, like the volume control on the playing screen. This is all on a brand new iPhone 8 and persistent across reboots and reinstalls. Platform limitations like the control center shortcut are tolerable, but charging people for a non-responsive app is not.

The grid album view lets me so many more of my albums than Apple Music, Spotify, or YouTube music ever do, and the blurred background color based on the detail of your album looks nice. Everything is quickly accessible, and simple double tap and swipe gestures make some actions faster that are more cumbersome in the other apps. I really like how minimal it feels w/o cutting out core functionality. This app actually *feels* clean, and I really appreciate that.

Will there be an update to optionally show more than 500 albums on the grid view? My library isn't there yet, but it's getting close.

This adds functionality the default app would (in my ideal world) have built in. Being able to see an attractive spread of albums to pick from reduces the cold impersonality of digital libraries. Lots of customizability. Would love even more choices.

Update: Thank you for adding the widget with random albums! I love it and use it daily. Wonderful app.

I thought I’d try an alternative to Apple’s Music app and this was cheap so thought I’d give it a try. It’s a total bargain!

The gestures are intuitive and the animations put a smile on my face from the way the albums tracks are displayed to the flicking away of the album art. There’s so much thought here - swipe to flip through an artist’s albums IN DATE ORDER! Exactly what I wanted. the background colours match the artwork, tap once to fill the screen and double tap to really zoom in!

It looks brilliant in Tiles view on my iPad Pro- just a screen full of nothing but scrolling artwork with all the controls a tap and a few swipes away.

This is a total bargain and has loads of settings to match it to your device. It works really well on my iPod touch too.

Just download it now. Really.

Just a great app with a lot of flexibility to organize and display your music library.  Thank you David for updating this app.  I’ve been using this app for a long time and it always has worked flawless for me.  I know that the AOL Play app was based on your work also and it was excellent.  If a future release of TapTunes were to include Shoutcast capability I certainly wouldn’t complain :)

This app is amazing and it's exactly what I was hoping to find with shuffled album display. It actually even goes beyond expectations with the transitions and different display types. The only issue I have with this app is that it often crashes and I don't have the option to keep a certain selection of albums. Overall, worth more that what you pay for in concept, but this app's bugginess keeps it from being perfect.
