## What is Tare?

Track what you eat. Learn what you burn.

Tare is a calorie and macro tracker that runs on your iPhone and stays there. No account to create, no subscription, no ads, no analytics. Your food log lives on your device and, if you want it to, in your own iCloud.

EVERY DAY
• Log food by searching two food databases, scanning a barcode, or pointing your camera at a nutrition label
• Watch calories, protein, carbs, and fat fill against your goals as the day goes on
• Build your own foods, recipes, and meal templates once, then log them in a tap
• Sort your day into meal categories you name, color, and order yourself
• Track water with quick-add buttons sized to your own glass

BEYOND CALORIES
• Over 20 vitamins and minerals tracked alongside your macros, each against its daily value
• Short on iron, calcium, protein, or fiber? Tap it and Tare tells you what to eat to close the gap, ranked from your own foods first
• Already on target? The same tap shows which foods got you there

TARGETS THAT KEEP UP
• Tare learns what you actually burn from your weight trend and what you log, then suggests new targets each week. You accept them or you don't
• Body fat from a smart scale lets it tell muscle from fat, so a recomposition stops reading as standing still
• Your weight is smoothed into a trend, so one heavy dinner doesn't read as a setback

FASTING AND SUPPLEMENTS
• Run a fasting schedule with a Lock Screen timer, and correct a fast that started or ended at the wrong moment
• Keep supplements in timing groups with reminders, and log the water you take them with

REPORTS AND CHECK-INS
• Weight, body composition, calories, macros, and micronutrients over one, three, or six months
• A daily check-in on energy, mood, sleep, and hunger, and what those move with

ON YOUR WRIST AND HOME SCREEN
• Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets for calories and macros
• A read-only Today dashboard on Apple Watch, plus a calorie ring complication

IN YOUR LANGUAGE
• English, Russian, Ukrainian, and Polish — every screen, number, and reminder, on iPhone, widgets, and Apple Watch
• It opens in your iPhone's language, and you can change it in Profile → Language & Region
• Translations are built into the app. Choosing a language sends nothing anywhere

PRIVATE BY CONSTRUCTION
• No account, no tracking, no advertising or analytics frameworks
• Sync runs through your own iCloud account, which we cannot read
• Apple Health is optional, and every data type is permitted separately
• Export everything you have recorded as CSV, whenever you like

One purchase. No subscription. iPhone and iPad.

Tare is not a medical device and does not provide medical, dietary, or nutritional advice. Food data comes from USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts and is provided as-is.

### 5/5 — Great one time purchase app

*2026-09-04*

Been using it for like 3 months now. Lots of features for a one time purchase, no ads!!!!. It helps to loose weight if you have discipline. Adaptive TDEE really works, after a few weeks it stops using some generic formula and actually figures out your calorie burn based on your own weigh-ins and provides summary weekly with changes macros. Also it is way less buggy compare to earlier versions, they’ve clearly been fixing stuff. There is no AI that estimates calories and macros by picture (estimates never worked for me) so if you need this feature this app is not for you.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback! Glad it is working for you.

### 1/5 — wish i could get my money back

*2026-07-23*

there’s a bug not showing micronutrient names, the database has the same thing multiple times with different calorie counts so you dont know which is accurate, i cant put fractions like 1/3 cup, decimals only, recipe building and logging is too time consuming

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. A new version of the app has been released that allows to use fractions and fixes light mode view.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.16.0 — 2026-09-05

Your foods, kept and shared

• Share a recipe, a template or a food — or your whole My Foods, Recipes or Templates list — with another Tare user as a file over AirDrop, Messages or Files. What's new is imported; what's already there is skipped
• My Foods now keeps the foods you use, not only the ones you made. Tap a searched food in the Foods tab, check its nutrition, tap Add — nothing is logged
• Kept foods rank with your own in the Log tab's search, offline too, and sit beside Favorites and Recent before you type
• Long-press anything in the daily log to share it

### 1.15.0 — 2026-09-04

Log without opening Tare

• Water from a Home Screen widget: two quick-add buttons, and today's total updates on the spot
• Supplements from a widget: today's checklist, one tap each. A widget can show a single timing group, so morning and evening can sit side by side
• Water from your Apple Watch: the same two buttons as the daily log. A tap reaches your iPhone in under a second; out of range, it's delivered once the phone is back
• Supplements on the watch: a tap marks the supplement taken on your iPhone and in Apple Health, exactly as in the app
• Your fast at a glance: a Fasting page on the watch with the timer, your target, progress and body stage, and “Goal reached” once you pass it
• The calorie complication now opens the watch app on Today

Also

• Tare speaks Spanish: the whole app, food search and the App Store listing
• A freshly installed watch app asks your iPhone for today's numbers right away and says “Waiting for iPhone” until they arrive

### 1.14.1 — 2026-09-02

• Supplement reminders now skip a day you've already finished — check off everything in a group before its reminder fires, and that day's alert stays quiet. It's back the next day.
• Minor wording fixes.

### 1.14.0 — 2026-09-01

• Custom foods can now include water - soups and shakes count toward hydration, even inside recipes and templates
• Give any food, recipe or template its own icon - pick a symbol and color, with a catalog of 4,900 symbols
• Icons show in your daily log too, including recipes and template groups
• Pick your own protein, carbs and fat colors - they follow you into the widget and onto your watch
• Fixed: Cancel and Save were invisible in light mode when editing a meal category

### 1.13.0 — 2026-08-29

Tare in your language

Tare now speaks Ukrainian, Polish, and Russian - the whole app, not just the front page. Every screen, sheet, alert, and empty state, down to the units beside your macros.

• It opens in your iPhone's language. Install it on a Polish phone and Tare is Polish from the first screen
• Want a different one? Profile → Language & Region. The app changes as you tap, with no relaunch
• Already using Tare in English on a Russian, Ukrainian, or Polish phone? Nothing moves under you. Tare asks once whether you'd like to switch, and takes no for an answer
• New to Tare? Choosing your language is the first screen, before anything else

Numbers that look right

Decimals, dates, and units follow the language, not just the words - 72,5 kg rather than 72.5, and counts that agree with their number the way Slavic languages need them to.

Everywhere else Tare shows up

Your widgets, Lock Screen fasting timer, Apple Watch, and reminders all speak the same language the app does. Your meal categories and supplement timing groups translate with it, while anything you typed yourself stays exactly as you wrote it.

Bug fixes

• Renaming a supplement timing group left its reminder announcing the old name. It now says what the group says
• The Other section - the one that appears when a supplement logs food into your day - kept the language it was created in after you changed languages
• Foods whose label counts fiber the European way could show negative carbs. The math now follows the label, and older entries correct themselves
• Some long-cached foods showed vitamin D far too high. They now check themselves against the app's built-in reference data and correct on launch
