Makes tariff lookups painless
This app makes a tricky topic simple. The layout is clean, and results are easy to understand. It’s been very handy for day-to-day checks and just what I need to make decisions faster.
Tariff rate
Helpful app 👍
The only tariff app in existence
I appreciate that this app exists, but it doesn’t provide the information I was looking for. There is no help section, no tariff 101 explanation or even a simple glossary of terms. For people that have a basic understanding of finance, perhaps this app is more useful than a complete novice like myself. I was hoping for something in which you could enter an actual product and the price of the product, and it would tell you the dollar amount of the tariff that the consumer ends up paying. Sadly, this app doesn’t do this. All it can tell me is that for a specific product type, such as running shoes, there is an average 37.5% tariff. To me, this sounds like 1/3 the cost of a pair a running shoes is the cost of the tariff, but I’m pretty sure that’s not correct.
PROS: 1) It provides a listing of many countries and the US tariff rate on each. 2) It lets you do a side by side comparison of the tariff rate between 2 countries. 3) It has a news section, showing recent tariff related news stories.
CONS: 1) The product search function is glitchy. I was searching for cars, and the search result listed horses one time and no result found a different time. I think there’s no tariff on cars right now, but it would be better if the app show cars and say 0% tariff. 2) I found it difficult to understand which direction the tariffs are being paid in the side by side comparison. It would be helpful if the wording was more descriptive, like “China pays 30% tariff to the US. US pays 10% tariff to China. There is a 20% imbalance of import duties, with the US getting the benefit.
