Which is a pity, environmentally… ### 2/5 — Slow Load Times *2019-08-25* Used the map a fair bit at the Zoo this weekend. Sadly the slow app load-time (even after briefly locking your phone) and tendency to forget your map routes ruin the experience. You have to wait 10-30 seconds nearly every time you unlock your phone for a loading spinner to go away. Then it’s a few taps to get back into the map (it doesn’t stay active). Then, if you had a map route marked you were following before you locked your phone for a moment, it’s forgotten and you have to set it up all over again. Not great to be fussing over your phone when the kids are about to run off in the wrong direction! Once you are in the map, it’s a lot better. Really responsive and accurate. It’s just getting to the map and keeping it active that is a major frustration. Shows SO much potential, but the usability problems right now mean you’re better off with the paper map. Such a shame! ### 2/5 — battery draining app *2019-06-07* this app has many unnecessary features, such as animations and videos, took ages to open and load the app, and also it drained my phone battery. I think you should make it more lighter. ### 2/5 — Not user friendly *2019-04-21* Went to the zoo this Easter weekend. The map is terrible to use. Every time you wake your iPhone up to refer to the map, you have to wait ages for the app startup and images before you can get to the map. We ended up using the hard copy map they hand you at the front gate. The hard copy map is also better for kids to learn basic navigation. ### 2/5 — Needs updating *2018-01-17* The map was glitchy and took too long to load my position. Had to use the printed map at the zoo. Please update and improve please. And make it the same orientation as the printed one at the zoo. An update is expected shortly! ### 2/5 — Warning drains battery like nothing else *2017-06-25* The app itself is pretty neat, but it drains battery like nothing else. My wife and I were using the app for the day out in the zoo and both our phones went from 100% to 20% by lunch time with the app running in the background occasionally looking at it for directions, haven't had these issues until we both used the app today. Hopefully this can get fixed next update as the app itself was pretty handy. **Developer response:** Hi Mulgar, thanks for taking the time to provide a review. I never have to worry I'm going to miss a show and we used the directions to the nearest washroom repeatedly. Love the animal facts and the pics on the app are beautiful! Incredibly user friendly. This is a must-have for any visit. Thanks!! ### 5/5 — Great way finding tool *2017-01-12* I found the way finding tool and show scheduling particularly useful when finding my way around the Zoo. The WildSquad game also adds a nice fun touch. An update is expected shortly! ### 3/5 — Major omission *2018-10-20* The Taronga website lists closures and works (such as the Food Market undergoing renovation - which is kind of important when you have hungry monsters to feed). However this information is not available inside the app. I would have thought it would at least come up under “Daily updates”, but that screen is blank. **Developer response:** Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback.
