## What is TAS Fires?

This is the original TAS Fires app and is designed to provide up to date information about bush fire data in Tasmania, Australia for iPhone, iPad and iPod users.

The information is provided to you in both a searchable/sortable list and on a map to help the user understand which fires are of importance to them. The information can also be shared via social media/email and text.

It utilises data from the Tasmanian Fire Service RSS feeds on fires, wind data from the Bureau of Meteorology with your current location provided by the iPhone GPS.

Using this information the application is able to provide a list of fires showing the nearest ones first, helping you to understand your current situation.

The information is reliant on both the accuracy of the iPhone GPS and the data recorded on the TFS's website.

This application does not cache any data, so Internet access (either Wireless. 3G or LTE) is required to access the data.

Be aware that while P4G has utilised "best efforts" to provide this information to you, it is not intended to replace other sources of information on the fire situation near you. Also remember that fire and weather can change quickly.

All data is provided Copyright from the Tasmanian Fire Service and the Bureau of Meteorology.

### 1/5 — Worst fire app in Australia

*2024-11-15*

Terrible app Won’t load a list of fires !! wont load and list of warnings !!! Can see general position of fires on the map only, still cant see warnings 🤦‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️ there is basically no useful information in this app for the public at all, other than a map that says wildfire is somewhere in the vicinity of a red flame!! There is no indication on the map of burnt area or fire direction for locals to keep an eye on and make sensible decisions to leave or not. its a terrible map interface… clucky almost unusable They need to take a leaf from the vic fires app its awesome easy to use easy to find warnings and extremely useful information Victoria learnt from 2009 seems Tasmania has a lot of learning to in regards to communicating useful, accurate information to the public.

### 2/5 — It’s not exactly accurate but still worth it.

*2024-11-05*

Not exactly what I expected, it does say you can see how many trucks are attending. But can’t see that in the app. Would also be good if we can set our own tone to the fire notifications

### 2/5 — It’s not exactly accurate

*2024-06-15*

Not exactly what I expected, it does say you can see what vehicles are going (or how many)

### 1/5 — Amateur hour design

*2023-10-25*

Important apps like this should be designed by developers who know what they’re doing. It’s not that hard or expensive get it done properly.

### 5/5 — Watch zones.

*2023-10-18*

They won’t or can’t be deleted.

### 3/5 — Could be better

*2023-09-23*

There are better apps but unfortunately this is it for Tasmania 🙁

### 4/5 — Changes

*2023-01-01*

Working very well. It used to report despatched resources as number of appliances. Was a reasonable judge of severity. Not sure why was changed.

### 4/5 — Not working

*2022-09-20*

Has not been working for weeks now , have advised but still dead

### 5/5 — Tas Fires

*2021-12-31*

It used to show the area already burned shaded in red so we knew how far away the fire was to us but now it just shows the fire icon.
Please put this feature back, it was the best.

### 2/5 — App not working properly

*2021-10-27*

This app not working very well with the new iOS 15.1
It keep crashing, I’ve remove the app and reinstall it, still crashing..
