Additionally, you cannot search for a location by entering an address, you have to search for a location in the map which is cumbersome). ### 4/5 — Outdated app *2018-12-28* You can still see some fires, but the developer doesn’t care about Tasmania any longer. He only updates the VIC and QLD apps. Shame, could be useful to have one Oz app, saving the dev having to update 5 different apps. No state alerts, no geofence alerts, just a (confusing) list of ongoing incidents. ### 5/5 — Cfa fire ready app *2013-01-23, version 1.1* What ever you do don't copy the vic cfa app. It doesn't work, gives outdated and misleading info when it does work. The cfa should be copying the tas fire app. Check the cfa reviews for yourself if you need confirmation ### 5/5 — Great app *2013-01-05, version 1.0* Don't listen to IaninAus you can turn off the coloured spots(satellite hot spots) if you want and tap the coloured arrow to see the wind speed then tap the >on that flag to get heaps more info from that weather station also try map this fire when you select a fire from the list.way more info than the fireReady app.way more info than tas fire service website. :) ### 5/5 — Invaluable *2013-01-04, version 1.0* up to date reports, warnings and advice during current (Jan 2013) bush fire crisis in Tas. Must have for anyone in tassy who's at risk of fires. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Worst fire app in Australia *2024-11-15* Terrible app Won’t load a list of fires !! wont load and list of warnings !!! Can see general position of fires on the map only, still cant see warnings 🤦‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️ there is basically no useful information in this app for the public at all, other than a map that says wildfire is somewhere in the vicinity of a red flame!! There is no indication on the map of burnt area or fire direction for locals to keep an eye on and make sensible decisions to leave or not. its a terrible map interface… clucky almost unusable They need to take a leaf from the vic fires app its awesome easy to use easy to find warnings and extremely useful information Victoria learnt from 2009 seems Tasmania has a lot of learning to in regards to communicating useful, accurate information to the public. ### 1/5 — Amateur hour design *2023-10-25* Important apps like this should be designed by developers who know what they’re doing. Now it won't open ### 1/5 — Possibly misleading *2013-01-04, version 1.0* Total waste of money. A map with incredibly small coloured dots that are different colours to the legend and meaningless jargon on information. What does FRP 58.8 mean? Is it a fire? What does a confidence of 94% mean? What do the differnt coured arrows mean. I presume wind strength but no indication of what the differnet colours really mean. Look at the victorian CFA app to see how it should be done ### 2/5 — It’s not exactly accurate but still worth it. *2024-11-05* Not exactly what I expected, it does say you can see how many trucks are attending. Please put this feature back, it was the best. ### 5/5 — Brilliant app *2020-04-30* I just love this app. Not only do you get all the information and alerts for fires in your area or the areas you may be visiting but also the weather data is simply fantastic. When you tap on the icon for the weather station you get the most accurate data and predictions of wind strength and direction. The wind graphs are simply brilliant and I use this aspect of the app every day. Unfortunately, the data for the weather stations is not currently being displayed. Please bring back ASAP. ### 5/5 — TASFires *2020-01-08* Awesome app - given the uncertainty and amount of fires at the moment it is wonderful to have this to be able to refresh and receive current information. The map is great - showing your location in relation to fires and the status of those fires. They are also to be congratulated on their professional, capable and thoroughly efficient ability to prioritise and carry out their difficult and sometimes arduous duties with the least amount of fuss.
