Definitely helps one stay on track. There are bugs in the UI. Sometimes the flowchart disappears or has glitches, and you need to restart the app. Fortunately data loss has not been an issue. Also, some details such as needing to click in the text box to start typing a task name (rather than having it pre-selected after creating it), or not being able to bulk-edit (eg, color-coding several tasks at once) would make it easier to use. But overall an extremely functional tool that doesn’t have any peer. ### 3/5 — It's OK *2024-11-06, version 1.11.2* Recently revisiting. Frustrating... ### 3/5 — Needs iPad Improvements *2024-08-03, version 1.10.13* Great application on desktop; however, I am not able to connect tasks with Apple Pencil or touch input. ### 3/5 — A Potential Game-Changer with a Critical Issue *2023-10-02, version 1.9.1* I really think the app "TaskHeat" is a great application and could potentially be a game-changer among all other "to-do" apps in the market. However, there is a significant flaw we should not ignore. In some situations, after you create a task and three subtasks, when you click on one of the subtasks, all four tasks, including the main task and three subtasks, are marked as done simultaneously. This is definitely not right. As I mentioned, I'm really glad that I found this app, but please fix this issue to improve my experience. Thanks ### 4/5 — Nice app, but I wish some things were different. *2023-06-27, version 1.8.12* Here is what I like about this app: - The organization chart aspect is wonderful. - Easy to learn and use. What I really dislike and wish would be different: - I know the developer is trying to be helpful here by putting all of your projects together in just one file -- but I don't want all of my projects being stored together, as if they are somehow related. I want each project to be in its own seperate file that can be opened, saved, etc. This "bundle it all together", even if its completely unrelated is is not good. ### 4/5 — Navigation needs work *2023-04-11* Please introduce new layouts and schemas. This app would benefit greatly from additional export options visually and file-wise. I use this app not so much for tasks per-se but more so to create correlation boards that end up creating a very useful circuitry due to how easy it is to set up dependencies with taskheat. I’m not asking for more complexity, but more depth in exporting our creations. I really like the list view when exported via printing; though if it were possible to also include a list of sorts that using text or language to express the connections — that would be phenomenal. The list is as close as it gets but the arrow’s unfortunately dont translate beyond explanation. The project view needs a better UX/UI, while the mindmap, is fantastic and in my opinion would do very well with custom automized schemas. So one could choose many layouts to visualize their tasks. Also it would be useful to add a priority number or letter ABC to tasks not so much as to set an order, but to show alternative task choices with ABC and then set intensity/importance with levels of 123+ that perhaps could add an additional thick colored outline of some kind to the bubbles based on their setting. Different numbers indicating different outline thickness for priority or something. However, the app is clunky often needs to be restarted and lax other functions that are pretty standard in task management/project management/to do to list. I hope the developer continues to update the software I did get the premium and I hope that they add a calendar and some more task functionality also a little more robust project management. Overall, this is a solid personal to do list that lets you visualize your project. Nothing more nothing less if you're looking for something more robust, I'd recommend a different app. ### 4/5 — Interesting *2023-02-06, version 1.8.3* It's an interesting tool so far but it seems to be missing some features, for example to visualize the lists better: Right now they just all pile up together, not by section or column but by row. I didn't figure out how I can change that order when I create the charts, the arrows tend to move downwards but the lists will use the rows of tasks anyway. Some of those charts in the screenshots look nice but mine don't seem to place themselves differently this way. I would love also being able to have them organized under each section title and 1. 2. 3. so that the order and dependencies aren't missed in the list view. ### 4/5 — Great App *2023-01-07* I really like this app and it’s easy to use. There isn’t different shapes or manually putting the location of each task, which I like. Buying the full version is worth it since its one-time. I don’t know if this is already a feature, but it would be nice if already completed options could be hidden and removed, but not deleted. Is there any way to share this and use it live with someone else? That would be nice. It would make the delegate feature more useful. Also if you could allow easy selecting and editing multiple tasks at once, that would be nice. I would also like a way to control the size/dimensions of all the tasks. Like making It 1.5 times wider than the height or something. Sometimes the zoom pop up in the top can get kind of annoying. Could you add a way to disable it? It doesn’t look like there have been many updates. There is also a glitch where I can’t reorder my projects in the menu. Doesnt seem fit for large projects 3. There is no simple open / save project concept. you have your projects ALWAYS open on the left. what if word / excel did this? lol in TH you need to export to CSV and re-import if you want to do this for many projects. Thanks ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — No longer so promising and useful *2024-01-26, version 1.9.9* I agree with the other reviewers - this is a promising piece of software and it is useful right now, but it's not a fully fledged task management solution at the moment. Not yet. There are many features still needed - repeating tasks, for example. Also tweaks and polish - the ability to have a due date without a time, for example. But a great start and a good looking, fairly intuitive piece of software. Others have reported crashes - not me - stable across my platforms. And tt's great that it works across all platforms. Much to comend it. At the moment I'm using it purely as a visual workflow planner and for that alone it's great and worth the price. Get on board now, purchase it at a great price while you can, give the developers some encouragement. This could, eventually, be a really essential app. -Update 1 The developer is working hard to fix bugs and add features. Synchronisation has recently seen major improvements and now seems to work really well. Other new features have been added, such as the much needed Undo. This is starting to get to be quite a solid offering. Still more needed - repeating tasks, tasks without a due time but with a due date. After about a year of using this software it's still delivering for me. Glad I stuck with it. -Update 2 The app just starting crashing on my Mac. Probably related to some kind of sync issue since I had just made a change. Although the Mac app would not start, the iPad and iPhone apps still worked so I was able to get to my data. I tried to contact the developer - no response. I tried to remove the Mac OS app after backing up my iPad data and then re-install it. Several attemps - no improvement. The Mac app is obviously getting stuck and I've tried using various dev tools to see what is going wrong but can't find it. With no support from the developer, I'm afraid it's goodbye TaskHeat. I'll use a MindMapping tool instead, which is very similar, and more stable. Shame. It was a useful app. Just not stable and without any support, of no use primetime. ### 1/5 — This app is terrible *2023-12-12, version 1.9.5* No sorting of tasks. Flowchart puts the tasks where ever it wants and you cannot move them. Linking is hit or miss. Import is terrible. I defined the links between tasks in the CSV file and it ignores them. When it does work, navigation is start tripping. The idea is great but execution need a lot of work. Quit, relaunched and could then add a task, but given that it's obviously broken I wouldn't trust it to remember my lunch. ### 1/5 — Keeps Crashing *2023-06-12, version 1.8.11* Just bought this and using on Macbook air useless keeps crashing every time I do anything waste of money ### 1/5 — Caveat Emptor *2023-04-08, version 1.8.7* I had a lot of hope for Taskheat, but it is current unusable. The version 1.8.7 (464) is crashing when just moving between projects and I have had just too many instability issues with this app since I purchased it. When I first tried Taskheat a little over a month ago I found and reported a number of UI bugs and the crashes. Eyen support responded quickly saying that my crashes were likely due a database corruption and that they were investigating but there has been no follow since, but there have been two updates. Instability issues aside, I also have a number of functionality or design issues with Taskheat on the Mac. In terms of task organization, Taskheat arbitrarily organizes tasks if they are not linked to other tasks. The order seems to be the task creation order. Once entered there is no way to prioritize or organize individual unrelated tasks, other than creating artificial link dependencies. If that the design intent, it then makes it more difficult than necessary to re-prioritize independent tasks. In terms of the Flowchart, the user has absolutely no control over the task layout. While the flowchart auto layout is cute, it all too often organizes the tasks in an unintuitive or a very linear way. Adding or manipulating tasks results instantly in a layout update and these constant auto layout changes makes it difficult to visualize and work with your project when you are making edits. The flowchart layout also changes dramatically when Show Completed is toggled on/off. Personally, I'd love the capability to turn off the auto layout and just let the user create the flowchart view they want. I realize that Taskheat is both a mobile and Mac app, and maybe this functionality works better on a mobile device, but I find the functionality as implemented frustrating when trying to work with the app on the Mac. ### 1/5 — Not working properly on iPad. Wasted purchase *2023-01-30, version 1.8.3* Crashes or won’t open offline. Nothing happened. No provided tutorial pop-ups etc. Nowhere in the app store is it indicated that this app is a free trial either, only once you're in the app. Will not be buying. ### 1/5 — Unable to navigate *2022-10-24, version 1.7.12* Attempted to follow the Tutorial. Marking tasks as completed doesn’t stick. No controls to navigate to the next item without backing out and selecting. There is an arrow control but it brings up a list. Next to that arrow is a trash can but it doesn’t do anything when selected. The Actual/Flowchart gets into a state that doesn’t allow seeing anything but a list with only one item showing. I moved from OmniFocus UI because lack of a flowchart visalize and Taskheat accepted the import of 1,000+ tasks and 100+ products great. A feature users may not be aware of is Taskheat works with Focus Filters ### 5/5 — The best *2025-01-13* If you looked at my download history since 2013 you will see hundreds of defunct mindmap flowchart to-do apps. Nothing visualizes the way I wanted. MIRO comes close but it’s much more for a team setting and lots of pretty things. However, Taskheat sorts automatically and is straight to the point. It is perfect for me. I migrated from Omnifocus to get away from the UI and visualize connections! I successfully exported/imported 1,000+ tasks 100+ projects from a .CSV because TaskHeat excels at visually connecting everything. This made it quite SLOW until I slimmed everything down. You can see as a Flowchart or a LIST. and even in a LIST you can DRAG connections of tasks, called prerequisites and dependencies..
