This app really helped me out after years of my illness worsening. It started causing executive dysfunction and brain fog I didn’t know where to begin dealing with. I felt like nothing would help and started to blame myself for things I was falling behind on. How much this app has helped me is an understatement. I was really struggling. Before I even got back to the doctor, this made an immediate difference for me. I’ve been telling all my friends and inviting them to my guild (one of the best features in apps like this). They all agreed: This app has been instrumental for the whole lot of us with chronic illness, ADHD, etc. in our own ways. It’s also nice to feel their presence in the app when I wake up. No one can see your task list unless you share specific tasks. You aren’t forced to play with strangers but other players are around. So, there is community and community discussion about features too. Something I found unique is that it’s very clear when someone you care about is struggling because you don’t see their gameplay notifications. I didn’t feel this close to their day-to-day before. And it’s totally non-invasive to anyone’s day at the same time. Tons of to-do features, challenges, it’s highly customizable, smart, entertaining, positive, flexible enough to play how you want to, has active updates I think the current version is their best yet and I have no doubt future versions are going to be even more amazing! TaskHero is building something truly special. I tried similar apps like Habitica etc. and found this one to be the best for managing, not just tasks, but your full day and wellbeing. It has everything I was looking for in a gamification life planning app. I used Habitica for the past 10-15 years, and it was wonderful, but after they stopped updating it and got rid of guilds, it wasn’t working for me anymore. This is the perfect replacement. The only thing that would make it better is a time blocking feature. Also, there was a very minor bug (no impact on gameplay, just aesthetic), and the dev team responded instantly when I pointed it out to them. It’s great to see they’re responsive and actively working on improving the app. Great job, guys. Contact us anytime if you run into bugs or want to request features. ### 1/5 — Suspiciously bad *2026-03-20* I get the feeling this app was vibe coded by someone with little development experience. You can feel it right from the start. Despite running “local” on my device yhe buttons don’t work half the time. In the character creator every other button press would not cause a change. Sometimes you hit the arrow and then when you select the next option your previous one changes. I also had random black screens with more unresponsive buttons. The quality, but since I have tried using AI to make a personal app for myself before. I’m seeing all the weird bugs I ran into when Claude would try and make different features for me. My advice? This app isn’t worth your time. At least Habitica works. To the dev, sorry to leave a bad review but this app is not even in a releasable state. If you’re just learning still then I get it, but if you’re just using AI I suggest you stop and learn how to build an app on your own first so that you know how to fix these bizarre issues when they arise from generating code. **Developer response:** Sorry you ran into so many issues. I can assure you TaskHero is not vibe coded, as the initial code base of the app was built before coding agents even existed! I think the bugs you encountered were matter of unfortunate timing, as you wrote this review right at the time we released an update that did have a bug (that has since been addressed). That being said, we should never have releases as buggy as the one you encountered. Again, sorry you had a poor first experience. We take bug reports very seriously and do our best to resolve them as quickly as possible. I hope that you might give us another shot, as I'm sure any of the bugs you encountered will be fixed by then. ### 5/5 — Probably a life changer *2026-03-12* I have ADHD, diagnosed by a psychologist years ago. I've struggled my entire life using a planner (paper or digital) to track the things I need to do. It's easy to start a new planner but the next day I forget it exists. TaskHero is different. The constant desire to see what's next motivates me to use the app and get stuff done. I can group things as I need them (work vs personal), and I can see things I need to do on future dates. But most important is the gamification, which is brilliant. If you’ve tried Habitica or other gamified task managers or habit trackers, this blows them all away and it’s not even close. It’s completely replaced my native Reminders app and two project-management spreadsheets. Both the practical side and the game side are robust, where most apps can only do one or the other well. Excellent organizational and categorization features mean I can track anything from things I do every day, to one-off to-dos, to complex multi-step projects. On the game side, there’s plenty of depth. (There is a skill tree. Really, enough said.) But it’s also simple enough not to intrude on your time and productivity. I work alone so I haven’t used the community features much, but there are a lot there and this seems like it would be amazing for group projects or challenges. Most importantly, it’s super fun. The community discord is active, and there are guilds recruiting. The developers are very engaged and responsive. I’ve tried a ton of apps to help manage what I need to get done and none of them compare to this. The versatility of the task assignment (you can set the habit for a certain number of days, a certain day per week/month/year) is above and beyond anything I’ve found elsewhere. The gameplay is simple but fun, and it keeps you engaged with your goals. The amount of dopamine hits from attacking enemies/getting new loot/etc keeps you coming back over and over. Lastly, the best feature - you can pause your tasks. Got a 200 day streak that you don’t wanna lose while you’re on vacation? Pause it and you’re safe and sound. 10/10 would recommend.
