The most frustrating issue is the constant app crashing and force closing, which regularly logs me out and forces me to go through the hassle of logging back in every time I want to check my vehicle status or trigger remote commands. The user interface feels outdated, clunky, and unintuitive, making even basic navigation feel like a chore rather than a seamless experience. When compared to Mahindra’s Me4U application, Tata’s iRA app offers very limited options and lacks the polished functionality and feature depth that EV owners expect today. Tata Motors urgently needs to push out a major software update with critical bug fixes, improved session stability, and a complete UI overhaul to make this app usable. ### 1/5 — Forced to Re-register Every Login – Extremely Frustrating *2026-08-02* After the recent update, the app has become very frustrating to use. Every time I open the app, I have to go through the entire setup process again—enter my mobile number, verify via OTP, create a new PIN, and only then can I access my car. This completely defeats the purpose of having a companion app that’s supposed to provide quick access. The app should securely remember authenticated users instead of forcing a full registration flow on every login. This is a major usability issue and needs to be fixed urgently. Please restore persistent login sessions like before. **Developer response:** We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you’ve experienced. This is a very good improvement. Keep it up. Improvement areas - the login token gets expired once everyday, even if used multiple times the same day. The login process itself is time consuming and that results in avoiding the up in emergencies. The token expiry can be extended to 1 year to provide a more seamless user experience ### 1/5 — “Disappointing Performance – Slow, Glitchy & Unreliable” *2026-07-25* Extremely disappointing app experience from a brand like Tata. The app is painfully slow, takes too long to open, frequently logs out automatically, and has constant lag and glitches. Charging status and updates are often delayed or unreliable, which defeats the purpose of having a connected vehicle app. Even basic features take too long to respond, making the app frustrating to use on a daily basis. Instead of adding more features, Tata should first fix the serious performance, stability, login, and real-time update issues. Customers deserve a fast, stable, and reliable app—not one that struggles with basic functionality. Please take these issues seriously and improve the app urgently. ### 3/5 — Not stable has glitches *2026-07-21* Generally is is fine , but not stable ! Keeps resetting and we need to re-login , set a new pin etc every now and then! The feedback given thru the app doesn’t work, no one responds to those. Including the complaints registered in the app. Though service booking option available it doesn’t work. Had to google and find the number of the closest service center and book it. Service feedback in the app doesn’t work. Even though no special characters typed in the message it throws a JSon error and mentioned special characters found ! ### 5/5 — IRA APPLICATION ROCKS *2026-07-20* First experience is good. It operates all promised functions such as open or close doors, start ac etc.. Being user of Tesla - Ira has long way to go. Do not keep hanging around beat Tesla application where one has sharing digital key, and all operations can be done remotely. Carrying FOB is a headache and many times it is not detected. One gets stuck or have to revert alternative solution to start. Please attend these before Customers run out of patience.. ### 2/5 — A Step Backward from Tata Motors ZConnect *2026-07-19* I was forced to move from the old Tata Motors ZConnect app a few months ago. While ZConnect had its issues initially, it became quite stable after several updates. Unfortunately, this replacement feels like a step backward. The biggest problem is session management. Every few days, the app forgets everything and asks me to log in again using my mobile number and OTP. Re-authentication itself isn’t the main issue. The frustrating part is that it also forgets all my preferences, forcing me to set up the PIN, biometric authentication, and other settings repeatedly. This should never happen in a production app. I recently experienced this at a Tata charging station. With poor network connectivity, it took nearly 10 minutes just to get back into the app because of the OTP flow and repeated setup screens. When you’re waiting to start charging an EV, those 10 minutes are significant and completely unnecessary. Overall, I don’t see enough value in this app to justify replacing ZConnect, and the repeated loss of session and settings makes the experience unreliable and frustrating. ### 5/5 — Excellent *2026-05-17* Excellent app and extremely useful. One thing users should understand is that to enjoy all the features seamlessly, it’s best to use a modern 2025 or 2026 smartphone. I’m using an iPhone 17 Plus, and the experience has been amazing. Notifications are instant, and the app works very smoothly. I would also highly recommend taking the top subscription plan if you want to unlock the full potential of the app. It is seamless, effective, and absolutely worth it. For people with elderly parents, this app brings a lot of peace of mind and convenience. Some of the best features are being able to monitor the EV battery level, know exactly when charging is needed, track driving patterns, view safety-related information, and monitor vehicle access. One of my favourite features is the ability to switch on the AC before entering the car. In the current Indian weather conditions, this is truly a must-have feature. Congratulations to Tata Motors for building such a practical and advanced Indian app experience. Proud to support an Indian brand.
