## What is TATAMI?

Lay tatami mats across a quiet Japanese zashiki room. Drag a mat from the tray onto the floor, and when a full row or column is filled, the floor is set and that line is finished. Simple to learn, calming to play, with a distinctly Japanese feel.

CARRY IT TO THE MAGISTRATE
When a line is finished, a samurai shoulders the completed mats and carries them to the tatami magistrate. Deliver your work to earn koban, and saved koban grant an extra life. Move room to room across 48 hand-tuned stages in eight seasonal halls.

WORK WITH HASTE
Inspired by the old tale of the swift tatami-layers, the magistrate does not like to be kept waiting. Laying mats raises Haste, and completing a line to deliver lowers it again. Keep a steady pace - if Haste fills up, you lose a life.

THE WAY OF THE MAT
Lay your mats so that four corners never meet at a single point - an arrangement long considered lucky in Japan. Keep a lucky streak going for a small bonus. It is never required, just a quietly satisfying touch for those who notice.
