You would expect to be able to search for an artist, or a famous work, and be shown its location. None of that is in this app. 
The most prominent aspects are ads and travel instructions. Why would you get an app for an art gallery to find your way to Leicester Square?
There are some details of various works in the gallery, but they are not illustrated, and the location of the art is not shown. 
I tried “augmented reality”, but that doesn’t appear to do anything. 
A worthless app. I hope Tate Britain did not pay for it.

The free app only really offers tips on hotels and tours with prices. There is nothing else to offer. Navigating around it’s limited features only keeps taking you back to the Buy The paid version (for these features.
I downloaded the app when I visited Tate Britain but ended up buying the Tate’s own map in the lobby for £1 which was far more informative.
Overall I think this app is merely to tick an assurance box by the Administration that they have gone “digital” and they have their own app.
Tate can do better, please.
