Any tax app is critical for tax purposes. ### 1/5 — Useless *2025-06-30* I agree with other recent reviews. The upgrade destroyed functionality and the app is now useless. Do not purchase! ### 1/5 — No Longer Functional *2025-06-28* This app was always a little finicky but it did the job it was supposed to… but in June 2025 they decided to upgrade to a new technology stack and it’s now useless. After the “upgrade”, tracking was inconsistent (missed multiple days at time) and even when it did track the times were completely wrong. Attempts to reach out to customer service were futile (probably because they were overwhelmed) but for an app that was on the more expensive end of the spectrum they really f’d up this rollout. Avoid this app and go for one of the cheaper alternatives like TaxBird or Sarmiza ### 1/5 — All is completely messed up *2025-06-28* They completely broke this app. It’s reporting incorrect data and is missing my travel records. No customer support. ### 2/5 — Very frustrating and cumbersome app *2023-10-31* First let me say the app can accomplish what you need it to, namely to track and classify your days in any jurisdiction. But the app itself is buggy and even when it works the way you need it to, it is incredibly cumbersome to use. The basic task of recording where you were on a given day takes too much time. And if you are in a jurisdiction that is in close proximity to cell tower in another jurisdiction (let’s say you’re close to the state line), the app will record hundreds of false positives for any given day that you will then have to categorize, which will take you far too much time to do. For the amount of money I spend, it should work better, and I plan to transition to a different app next year. ### 1/5 — Horribly unreliable *2022-08-09, version 1.36* This app signs me out constantly and has made day tracking impossible. ### 1/5 — App was good *2022-05-31, version 1.35* Stopped working a couple of weeks ago. The basic entry fields in the app aren’t labeled and all the text you enter is white on a white background. I was finally able to guess the fields they wanted, but then couldn’t enter dates into when I was where over the past number of months. I don’t get it. Completely and totally unusable. Text fields don’t accept text, got to step two of a 5 step registration process and app simply doesn’t allow any input or way to succeed. Can’t find any support articles to solve. ### 2/5 — Data hog *2019-08-13, version 1.23* While I love this app and it’s very useful for me, it uses a HUGE amount of data in the background. Unfortunately, at the end of the tutorial there is no way to exit out and start actually using the app. Please fix and I will be happy to adjust my review ### 4/5 — Huge Need *2018-12-14* This is such a great app and exactly what I need. Just a couple nice to have adds to make this even more functional. First to upload receipts, give the “take photo” option rather than search existing photos. Use the geotag data as well. Also, know this is a mobile first... it does need a web dashboard so you can see data there as well. The app was good up thru 2024. But in 2025 and early 2026 it’s HORRIBLE. LOOKING FOR ALTERNATIVES NOW ### 1/5 — Fundamentally has not worked since early 2025 update *2025-10-04* Over the years, TaxDay was a decent, easy to use app, even if on the expensive side. In early 2025 they did a major software change and it rarely tracks locations correctly. Support is slow to respond and always says a fix is on the way, that doesn’t fix. If you want a tax tracking app, TaxDay is NOT able to do that. Sad for them, they have destroyed their product. ### 1/5 — Don’t update it! *2025-09-29* App is super sluggish after update in Sept 2025. If you have it don’t update it. It is missing locations outright even after presence for multiple hours and days. It’s totally useless at this point. It has noted my days in Fla, NY and for when I had a trip to Texas. My first question to tech support was answered within 24 hours, and my second within 3 minutes, each by email. Both questions were fairly simple in hindsight. And the person who answered my questions: the founder and President. Starting with the quick tutorial when you first install the app. I also like that while the app allows you to eliminate Excel (and other offline) tracking, you can download an Excel report if/when you need it.
