Another quality synth for cheap as chips iOS prices! So happy with plug-ins on iOS and this one sticks out **Developer response:** Thank you! ### 5/5 — Versatile synth, with rich sound, great FX and modulation *2021-09-21* I love the rich and full sound this synth can create and the extensive modulation system allows patches with a lot of subtle, crazy or rhythmic movement to be created. There are many ways to create texture and depth in the patches, and with up to 4 VCO’s it’s possible to create some very fat sounds indeed. Personally I’m not keen on the sequencer or many of the sequenced patches which tend to sound quite trancey and I would have much preferred an arpeggiator, but that’s just a personal preference and I’m sure there are other ways to use it. TB filters do great job creating multilayered unpredictable analog-like harmonics. Got pretty much all the AUV’s, so why add this to your collection. The ability to directly patch most control knobs directly to a wide selection of transients- multiple LFO’s, multiple envelopes makes this a very flexible and powerful beast. Add to that 4VCO’s and additional sub oscillators and there is some serious possibilities here. Lots of knobs to fiddle with, all laid out in a way that makes total sense. Loads of modulation options. I got lost in this for ages. The FX ooze Toneboosters quality. Overall it sounds great. I think there’s more to come too, with a promise of more waveforms etc. Just get it! **Developer response:** Thanks much! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — PRESET LIST IS NONSENSE, SUPPORT request impenetrable. *2025-08-22* Weird, first I wouldn’t ask for support here if your support page online worked, but it doesn’t. It kept saying I have to ‘match the format’ in various fields. Thus, iPadOS is not acceptable…and then once that was conquered, it just refused to upload my support request…anyway, great synth, wonderful, overshadowed by me being unable to backtrack through the presets - i can only right-arrow forward through the list, there’s no left arrow! Using standalone, not life or death but offputting is all. If I tap on the preset name now, it lists a dialogue box with eg ‘01 Airy’ at the top, then the next in the list downward is ‘02 Default’ and all the rest just keep incrementing until it gets to 015 and every single one has the name default. If I try going forward arrow, it might change behaviour slightly. Down to one star because this isn’t workable as it is, and the support request system doesn’t work online in any meaningful or effective way. ToneBoosters are therefore getting no complaints or feedback, and must assume all is well. Oh dear. ### 2/5 — Cutting stars poor communication skills *2023-08-12* The app is one of the best! So they do as they please going to ruins my battery even if I don’t open them? So 2 hours on screen n 24 background deleting and re adding but it’s literally taking my batteries life away I lost a whole percent of battery life cuz this not charge battery life ### 3/5 — No midi mapping *2023-03-26* Pas de mapping midi ### 3/5 — Better after diving in a bit… *2021-10-25* …and extensively tweaking some presets. Rolled a few sound of my own and am starting to warm up to it. All of the harsh, blipity, digital crunchy presets are just not my cup o’ tea, I guess. But even those sounds are easily manipulated into something more my tastes with simple envelope and filter tweaks. The unison knob is just too tempting…really fattens it up. The UI is pretty friendly and easy to navigate. Quite nice effects. Formant bit is a blast. Okay, I’ll give it another shot. **Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback! Hope the second shot worked out well! ### 4/5 — Not showing up in App Lists *2025-10-09* Edit, Today working fine will have to see next time i forget to plug in at night but was full charged n that never happens but two apps running all night will oops spoke to soon both running for past two plus hours in background they just stay running lol App is great would of got 5 stars from android to here but on iPhone it and Lowtone just ran all night and killed my battery why? And why do they not show up with all other apps to turn off app background refresh??? It’s like they don’t even exist on my phone but they work 5 stars on android has a bug or sum in them here. Don’t get it twisted I love Lowtones n Flowtones I just never seen sum run 13 hours straight both. While I was asleep n went to bed with 100 percent battery and wake up and it’s dead. N yes battery still good in the 90%plus range of health. The waveforms, oscillator features, ring modulation, filters, and fx are amazing! Even the formant filter so fun to use, and the modulation routings are extensive. Other than the lack of sync options, it sounds very close to my Novation Nova. I can’t wait to see what will be in the next update. I would love to modulate the LFO speed with the envelopes, and there need to be waveforms based on oscillator sync. Ring modulation between layers and serial filter routings would also be appreciated. This should be the normal approach, but not all developers follow through with fixes and improvements, particularly when the product achieves such quality as this one did from the first version. The revisions have all been logical and needed, in the sense a perfectionist would view things. You have my gratitude for indulging your perfectionist streak and for being a responsible, responsive developer of musical tools.
