## What is TDLiDAR?

TDLidar turns your iPhone into a live depth camera and 40-sensor streaming hub for TouchDesigner, OBS, Resolume and any NDI-aware tool — no capture card or tether. Tap Start NDI and it appears as a 1080p/60fps source on the network.

DEPTH MODES
• NDI Depth — front TrueDepth or rear LiDAR, live, with 15 colormaps, depth clipping and HD upscale.
• LiDAR + Monocular (Pro) — real LiDAR sharpened by a neural network, in metres on a fixed range that never breathes.
• ARKit Point Cloud (Beta · Pro) — scan people as live point-cloud silhouettes, or switch to All Surfaces and capture a whole room. Trail, echo, sculpt and gravity FX, colour by height, orientation, confidence or object type, and stream it all to TouchDesigner.
• Monocular Depth (Pro) — neural depth from any RGB camera, no LiDAR needed; three model tiers at 60 fps.
• Point Cloud (Pro) — live motion FX, Person Only isolation, and bit-exact XYZ+RGB into TouchDesigner POP geometry over Wi-Fi or USB.
• Mesh Cloud (Pro) — scan a room into a walkable point cloud; export PLY.

CONTROL & SENSORS
• Show Control (free) — drive everything remotely over OSC and MIDI: 140+ parameters, mode switching, Look Presets, show blackout.
• Sensors mode — ~40 on-device sensors (ARKit body/face/hands, motion, audio FFT, speech, AirPods, Watch heart rate) streamed as OSC.
• Cue Deck & Align (Pro) — an OSC trigger-pad grid and a projector-warp rough-in.

Everything runs on-device. No accounts, no telemetry, no analytics — data stays on your phone or LAN.

REQUIREMENTS
iPhone with TrueDepth or LiDAR (LiDAR modes need the scanner). iOS 18.6+. An NDI receiver on the same network.

TDLidar Pro is a one-time lifetime purchase, or try everything with a 3-day pass. No subscriptions.

### 5/5 — Amazing in-depth access to iPhone LiDAR output

*2026-07-27, version 9.4.1*

I’ve only scratched the surface and use this app directly for its incredible built/in presets for artistic viewing of LiDAR output, but there is SOOO much more to it. Every parameter you can imagine is adjustable, and the output (both in terms of raw data and video feed) can be sent to tools like OBS or Touch Designer for deep integration. Developer is super responsive and clearly dedicated to his craft.

### 5/5 — Brilliant app

*2026-07-25*

Though I’m not a regular TouchDesigner user I’ve managed to stream to TD from the app.

However, in the latest update (downloaded 25/07/26), the Point Cloud feature seems to be broken: no live preview. iPhone 14 Pro

### 5/5 — Fun and versatile

*2026-07-23, version 9.4*

I use with touchdesigner and also by itself for fun. It’s great for streaming from your phone for vj use and special effects. It was well thought out and has easy documentation

### 5/5 — The LiDAR toy you didn’t know you needed

*2026-07-23, version 9.4*

Very exciting initial experiments with this app. Should be useful on several fronts. Stoked to see where we end up from here!

### 5/5 — Incredible App

*2026-07-17*

This app has it all, and it just keeps getting better! Excellent developer communication!

### 2/5 — Pay Walled

*2026-07-15, version 9.3.1*

It’s an interesting app, but everything is paywalled outside of basic lidar data.

### 4/5 — Great, but…

*2026-07-14*

It NEEDS to offer landscape mode, so I can output widescreen/16:9/20:9 images… please. I bought the pro version in hopes of utilizing this app to the fullest, but I’m stuck with portrait-mode output…

### 5/5 — Amazing app super useful

*2026-07-12, version 9.3.0*

Very useful for touch designer, the LiDAR effects are very cool and make your face look like a painting. The OSC is the best there’s so much functionality that you can use in generative artworks 10/10

### 5/5 — this app is one of a kind

*2026-07-12, version 9.3.0*

Seriously the best app for touch designer users. The visuals you can create are nothing like I’ve seen. Quite easy to use could use more tutorials but the overal functionality is unmatched

### 4/5 — Great app, but confused about point cloud to TD

*2026-07-08, version 9.2.0*

Hey, so I’m using the point cloud mode and have a TCP/IP dat in touchdesigner, but it lags my computer and the data seems unreadable. Let me know if I’m missing something!

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 9.4.4 — 2026-08-21

Bug Fixes - Back facing camera lidar mode for specific iPhones

### 9.4.3 — 2026-08-14

POINT CLOUD OVER USB

• Stream point clouds to TouchDesigner through the charging cable instead of Wi-Fi. Switch on USB / Listen Mode in the Point Cloud network settings and connect from the computer — no venue Wi-Fi, no radio interference, and the phone charges while it streams. Wi-Fi still works exactly as before; this is an extra option, not a replacement.

ARKIT POINT CLOUD NOW STREAMS

• The ARKit Point Cloud mode can now send its cloud to TouchDesigner on its own port, so it runs alongside the Point Cloud and Mesh Cloud streams instead of competing with them.
• Front-On keeps the streamed cloud square to the camera rather than rotated by whichever way you happened to be facing when the session started.
• A separate stream point budget keeps the network side light without thinning the cloud on screen.

SCAN EVERYTHING, NOT JUST PEOPLE

• All Surfaces captures the whole scene — walls, furniture, floors — instead of only human silhouettes.
• Floors brings back floors and other steeply angled surfaces that the people-scanning filters used to remove.
• Reach sets how far out the scan goes, so distant noise doesn't eat the point budget.

FOUR NEW WAYS TO COLOUR A SCAN

• Height — hue by height, so floor, table and ceiling each read as their own band.
• Orientation — hue by the direction a surface faces, separating walls from floors.
• Confidence — colour by ARKit's own depth accuracy, so you can see which points to trust.
• Classify — a distinct colour for people, floors, ceilings, walls and objects.

Plus bug fixes, including camera switching in Point Cloud mode.

Everything still runs on-device. No accounts, no telemetry, no analytics.

### 9.4.2 — 2026-08-06

No Changes - Updating app store rating for australian social media requirements

### 9.4.1 — 2026-07-24

This is a small maintenance update.

• LiDAR Depth: fixed the depth image dropping the background on default settings, which could make the scene look like a floating foreground cutout. The depth stabilizer responsible now defaults to off, so LiDAR Depth shows the full scene again — you can switch the stabilizer back on any time in LiDAR settings.

• Updated in-app help and community links.

Thanks for using TDLidar.

### 9.4 — 2026-07-22

9.4 — Two new depth modes, Person Only point clouds, full remote control

New mode: LiDAR + Monocular Depth (Pro) The rear LiDAR's real, metric depth is fed into an on-device neural depth model every frame — the sensor supplies true distance, the network supplies the fine edges the 256×192 LiDAR grid can't resolve. Output is real metres on a fixed near/far range, so a given grey always means the same distance in every room and the image never "breathes". Per-pixel trust blending (Damp / Hold / Fill), a frame-level health gate that disregards a globally bad sensor reading, and a self-healing capture watchdog. Needs LiDAR.

New mode: ARKit Point Cloud (Beta, Pro) Scan human figures as live, world-locked point-cloud silhouettes — person segmentation × LiDAR depth, fully replaced on each scan. Trails, echo, light-paint, sculpt, riptide, vanish and gravity effects, 13 point shapes, spectrum / static / RGB colour. Pause freezes the last frame while the camera stays live so you can walk around it; tap for a photo, hold to record video. Marked Beta — the in-app help links to the docs, where a new feedback form takes bug reports and feature requests.

Monocular Depth, rebuilt Three model tiers — Small, Medium, High — at a locked 60 fps. What you see is now exactly what streams and records: one processed frame drives the preview, NDI and recording. New live camera ↔ depth view (Pro), a Sharpen that actually sharpens, auto-adjust you can scope to a region of the frame with a live lattice overlay, and instant return from the menu.

Point Cloud: Person Only A person matte gates point emission so the cloud is only the people in frame, with a Fast / Balanced / Accurate quality picker. Plus whole-cloud tilt, a movement lock, and Off / Spin / Sway orbit modes.

Show Control: everything is remote now Every LiDAR, Monocular Depth and Point Cloud setting — over 140 parameters — can be driven over OSC and MIDI (normalized 0–1), with a remote factory reset and a show blackout: screen fully dark while streaming keeps running, triple-tap to wake. Note: Show Control and persistent NDI now ship OFF by default (this update turns them off once — re-enable them any time in the main-menu gear → Network sheet).

Hardware shutter The volume buttons — and Camera Control on supported iPhones — take a photo; hold to record.

Plus Photos follow the screen orientation, "saved to gallery" captions, and a large round of stability and performance work across LiDAR, Monocular Depth and Point Cloud.
