### 3/5 — Random Tea Picker

*2019-11-17, version 2.04*

Nice place to have all your teas recorded in one app. Wish there was a randomized tea picker.

### 3/5 — New to tea

*2018-10-12, version 2.04*

I have recently gotten into learning about tea and I love the encyclopedia function and the ability to have and inventory of teas. I wish that the amount of tea in the inventory went down to 1 gram instead of starting at 10 since I have many sampler packs from teavivre. I still have to play with it some more but also wish that the brewing suggestions had specific gongfu instructions along with the western infusion method. Sometimes they are there but you really have to read into it. Also if you have F and C temperatures it would be nice to have ounces along with CC of water. Good app but think more could be done to justify 1.99 price.

### 2/5 — Crashes every time I add notes

*2016-11-27, version 2.02*

I purchased this as a tea journal. The interface is decent, but it crashes immediately after I type any character. I've reproduced this behavior many times without exception.

### 3/5 — So close to being finished…but not quite yet

*2015-03-29, version 2.02*

I am new to tea and purchased this app to help me track preferences as I learn my way around tea. The app is nice but lacks two very basic features. The categories are limited. One may choose “Black” tea. But there are no categories such as Assam, Darjeeling, etc. Also there is no category or search feature. That will not be an issue for me but a true tea lover would find the app fill with a random list of teas. Defeats the purpose doesn’t it?

Lots of potential. I hope this is not an orphan app. Just a few more features would rejuvenate it and make it a perennial favorite.

### 3/5 — Hmmmmm

*2015-02-22, version 2.02*

For some reason, this app doesn't recognize any of my teas. Right now, Taylor's of harr. Scottish breakfast tea is not recognized. I would like to see what teas ARE in the database!

### 1/5 — Keeps Crashing

*2014-12-30, version 2.02*

I liked this on my old iPod but got it on my new one and it crashes when I try to type info.

### 4/5 — Crashing on iOS 8

*2014-10-13, version 2.02*

Program worked well until I upgraded to iOS 8. Hopefully, a fix is on the way!

### 4/5 — Really like this app

*2013-09-18, version 2.02*

Excellent interface
Easy to use

Enhancement requests:
- Archive
- Reminder to restock
- stock overview
- photo of your stock
- rating
- notes

### 2/5 — Could be better

*2013-09-05, version 2.02*

I like being able to catalog all of my teas, but the last updates seem to have broken the search feature. It also doesn't seem to have a settings menu any more.

### 4/5 — Requires iOS 6

*2013-06-29, version 2.02*

I really like the app (1.23 version), and mainly use it for tracking inventory. Sadly, the new version won't install on my old iPod Touch because it requires iOS 6. Thought it might be worth mentioning, because I didn't see this requirement noted in any of the obvious places.

### 4/5 — Pretty terrific little app with lots of possibilities ahead

*2013-06-28, version 2.02*

I've been through more tea apps than one can shake a stick (or tea pick) at. This one's the best of the lot...which is why so many users expect even more from it.

Mine has 20+ teas entered, with fairly detailed notes. The ability to add my specific teapots is a big bonus--no need to memorize how many cc's each holds.

A tip I missed:
After selecting one of you user-entered pots, adjust the dry tea amount accordingly in the Brew screen, then tap the lock icon in the middle of the needle graphic. Doing so allows the app to adjust the amount of tea up/down according to which teapot you select for each session. Genius idea (that was so subtle I completely missed it).

Wish list:
A way to sync the app with other devices -and- online. Would be soooo much easier to add a list of new teas if we could do so using a full sized keyboard via a browser-based site. To then sync that info to other devices would be even better...no need to henpeck through teeny tiny "keys" on the phone then repeat the process on the iPad.

To Sam and company--thank you, thank you, thank you for all the blood, sweat, tears, and tea that went into this. Definitely the best of what's out there.

### 1/5 — Where did the add a tea + sign go?

*2019-01-20, version 2.04*

I added one tea and then the plus sign was gone???? How do I add more teas??

### 1/5 — I lovED This app .. But now...

*2016-06-05, version 2.02*

WAS An excellent app before they decided to remove the tea encyclopedia. Worked for me great in a trip to Japan , but now without the feature its kind of useless

### 1/5 — Very disappointed

*2016-04-11, version 2.02*

No Encyclopedia included which is the reason I paid for it. Just a glorified tea timer. Don't waste your money.

### 1/5 — Please fix!

*2016-04-02, version 2.02*

Where did my encyclopedia go?!? Put it back.

### 1/5 — Where's the encyclopedia?!?!

*2016-01-02, version 2.02*

I bought this app for the encyclopedia function! I only have two functions, Tea and History! On the app store it shows an encyclopedia?! Plus when I go to app support it just reopens the app! Am I missing something?! Please help!!

### 1/5 — Basically useless

*2015-12-21, version 2.02*

This app is basically useless. It doesn't contain the tea encyclopedia that it says it does. I haven't been one that his drank a lot of exotic teas in the past and thought that this app would help me by giving me a background on the tea, the amount of tea I needed to use, the temperature that I needed to hear the water to, how long I needed to steep it, and how many times I could reuse the tea leaves, but it does none of that. You basically have to look it all up and enter all of the information in there. Like I said, it's basically useless!!

### 1/5 — Good concept but flawed

*2015-09-27, version 2.02*

while it would be a good app to keep track of tea, it crashes regularly

### 1/5 — Crash

*2015-07-03, version 2.02*

Some nice features in this app. Being able to add my own notes is very important and this app offers that feature. However, every time I attempt to enter text the app crashes. So, for me this app is basically useless. Paid for junk.

### 1/5 — Time for an update!

*2015-06-02, version 2.02*

App worked brilliantly for years until I got an iPhone 6. MANY months later and it still crashes with almost every brew (especially if I try to attach photos or type brew notes). I'm afraid you have lost another loyal user. :(

### 1/5 — Crashes

*2015-01-09, version 2.02*

I just purchased. When I tried to enter in my notes the app crashed. I thought maybe it was a fluke so I quit the app then reopened. Well, several times this happened. Asking for a refund. Wish it worked. I really enjoyed the rest of the app.

### 5/5 — Best Overall Tea app!

*2020-06-17, version 2.04*

This app does have issues, but I am more than happy to deal with them given what is offered with it:

🍵 Encyclopedia- very detailed with maps, season charts, photos, and guidelines

🍵 Tea timer- highly programmable with your chosen specifics; amount of tea, volume of water, steep time, temperature (C or F), and you can track your steeping pot or vessel to the point of a photographic representation of it.

🍵 Pantry function- for tracking your teas- very cool!

🍵 History tab- for all your past tea experiences

Track your tea type, time, temperature, amount, water, pot, and everything is searchable! I’m also impressed with the clear understanding of Chinese teas and style of tea making that is still lacking with the other apps in the the store.

It can be a little temperamental to use, but I have found those problems vanish now that I have been using it for a while (ex: I don’t use the camera icon in the app to try and take a photo because it will crash the app. I use my iPhone’s camera, then use the “Photo Library” selection to fetch the photo. Not a big deal).

This is a great app for learning and growing one’s knowledge with tea making! If you are a casual tea drinker, you may not care, but for those exploring the realm of tea, this app is great!

### 5/5 — Nice app, could be better

*2020-03-17, version 2.04*

The encyclopedia part of the app is what interested me, especially as it had a connected map feature which helps one visualize the geography and region of where the teas come from. I wish however the encyclopedia had some filters to search than a giant scroll down list. It could probably easily be added to help limit the searching to what someone may be looking for out of that list. Also the app could add other information like the terrior of the original growing region, and the main cultivars the plant originally came from. But overall this an amazing app for tea! Thank you to the creators

### 5/5 — Best Tea App for Serious Tea Drinkers

*2018-02-17, version 2.03*

I’ve been using this app for years so before I updated my iOS devices to iOS 11 I had to resurrect my old old iPod Touch 4 to devote to this app. Now that the app has been updated I can use it on a device with a functional battery. Also, the encyclopedia is once again accessible.

It has all the features that a serious tea drinker need. I can set up each variety of each tea I own e.g. an individual entry for each oolong. Then I can record the tea qty relative to the pot size and the app adjusts the qty for each pot i own. It remembers the time and temperature for each tea and then times each steep with the built in timer. I can adjust the brewing parameters for the next session which is helpful with new teas.

Sometimes the features are hard to find, like adjusting the quantity of tea when you change the pot size, but they’re there and worth looking for.

### 5/5 — Love it!

*2017-10-02, version 2.03*

It allows me to read up on the different types of teas at the Asian grocery store. I have found so many teas I like because of this app.
I am so happy it has been updated. It works great now. THANK YOU!!!

### 5/5 — QUESTION

*2016-11-12, version 2.02*

Hi there! I like this app but I just bought it really for the encyclopedia as well but the button is not appearing at the bottom of my screen?? Just wondering if anyone else had this issue??

### 5/5 — Simple and Useful Tea Brew App

*2014-07-11, version 2.02*

Has all you would expect. Tea steep time, weight and temperature. Acts like a mini journal where you can rebrew what you like.

Features are nice. I love the seasons added to each tea. Picture taking, rating and share feature oh the tea's you brew is a nice add on.

Pictured Encyclopedia help me figure out which tea I had since I threw the bag and forgot. Extra points!

I hope one day the Encyclopedia can expand and you can export recommended Brew. A brew time sharing community would be nice add on.

Maybe this in not the app for that, but I wish tea blends could be recommended and shared. :D

### 5/5 — By far the best Tea app

*2013-12-21, version 2.02*

The tone of this review may seem largely negative, but I just wanted to point out some things that could be improved in the new version. Honestly, this is THE BEST TEA RELATED APP YOU CAN GET. Full featured, affordable, easy to navigate user interface- it does everything you need. Almost. So, here come the things I'd like to see improved in the next version.

- I'd like to be able to sort the main list of added teas by categories besides the date I added them. Like Most brewed, highest rated, Color (White -> Black)
- If I get longwinded with my tasting notes, the keyboard covers what I'm typing and I haven't found a way to scroll the text while typing.
- I'd like to see categories for flavored teas (Flavored Black, Flavored Green), specialized teas (Matcha) and non-herbal Tisanes (Barley Tea)

With these things added/fixed, it will really be perfect.

### 5/5 — Great!

*2013-06-30, version 2.02*

Keep on the great job

### 5/5 — Beautiful, useful

*2013-06-30, version 2.02*

I am loving this app. It makes it simple to keep track of my tea, so I know what I have when I go to the tea shop. I am enjoying taking pictures of my brews, and taking notes, so I know what to do differently next time I brew a up. The encyclopedia is extensive and deep, and I am learning so much about different varieties of tea. The only quibble I have is that the timer itself is not as beautiful as the rest of the app. It would be nice to have the option of an hourglass or a pocket watch type of timer. Other than that, I am thrilled. This is a wonderful tool for any tea aficionado.

### 5/5 — Great Release

*2013-06-25, version 2.02*

I'm using this far more than I ever thought I would! Great for managing loose samples and bulk teas alike.

I'm using this chiefly as a way to keep track of my massive inventory, and it's making me realize how much more quickly I rotate through teas than I would have suspected. That said, it would probably help this function to have an easier interface for subtracting quantities without going through the brew screens (can be a hassle when a full kilogram is used in a single weekend or if tea is given as gifts), though adding to stock is very easy.
[2.0 UPDATE: Much easier to toggle since original review - there was a temporary glitch where teas would only be brewed as bags, but it was quickly fixed]

I like the teaware volume logging idea another reviewer mentioned, though in small wares (like tiny gaiwans, Yixing pots, or Sand Clay pots) leaf quantity can lead to significant irregular displacement. Would be cool to incorporate, though, and pictures could be added when the online portion is ready. Maybe the ability to save and apply presets will save the effort of typing in remembered values of mass, volume, etc.
[2.0 UPDATE: This has now been incorporated, it is simple to augment the ratio for water displacement, and you can actually cycle through and easily edit your collection! The new "next time" feature also helps in this regard. It is a little too easy to accidentally delete a teapot when expanding it, though - an "Are you sure?" prompt would be useful.]

A scroll bar to help in editing reviews or a finger-slide scroll in the text box area would be very nice.
[2.0 UPDATE: Now added and works well in the new tasting notes history log, which I used to never use but I'm now going through really frequently!]

Overall, much better than I could have hoped for in an initial release. Perhaps a red outline box around suggested values on the brew screen will help in returning from parameter deviations as well as highlight that the brew screen is more than just a timer. Can't wait for the online tie-in down the line!

[2.0 UPDATE: Encyclopedia tie in adds a lot of content. Calling a little more attention to the search bar in that section may be useful - a reviewer below didn't see a tea that is in the app (Da Hong Pao) when he/she would have found the group it is in an entry with if typing in the search field, which rapidly cycles through search tags and sorts the entries for possible matches, even if just partial in nature.
More future additions I hope for are support for comparative tasting, being able to hop from the encyclopedia to brewing by tapping the suggested brewing window, and the archiving ability other reviewers have suggested.
Additions to the encyclopedia section are coming, but as for increased features of the actual entries, I look forward to the addition of suggested similar tea types, the ability to send a notice via multiple means like an email or Facebook post instead of just a reminder in the To Do list app, a way to expand the name of the tea group in question to see common types/aliases, the ability to sort by tea type or click on the type in a page to present like teas, and a quick way to add to the inventory straight from there. Happy with the new update and impressed with how quickly the bugs are being fixed as they are found and reported (though there aren't many, so not too many updates have been needed) - keep up the improvements!]
