### 3/5 — Ummm…

*2026-04-21*

I had high hopes for this app after following on Facebook. I have no idea how to use this app. None. I can’t find instructions. I have tapped on tiene about 100 times. What am I supposed to be doing?! I am utterly confused, I have no idea how to use this app and for this reason, I’m bowing out of paying for a subscription. I would’ve subscribed had I been able to figure out how to utilize this app. *I will update my review. Teacher AI reached out to me. There is nothing wrong with this app, it just wasn’t what I expected it to be. It is an app to enhance conversation skills in another language. Seeing as my knowledge of Spanish consists of about twenty random words, I am not ready to tackle this app. It would be great if you had a tiny grasp of speaking any language to practice your conversational skills. Sadly, I’m not there yet. Maybe someday.

**Developer response:** Hey there, sorry to hear that! It's probably too late, but would this video have helped? https://youtu.be/gfV5_LgllGk - Thanks for giving it a try! Jan

### 2/5 — Misleading

*2026-02-12, version 3.7.0*

Makes you make an account just to tell you there’s no free version to test it out (I dislike giving my email out unless I actually plan to use what I’m signing up for). I don’t want to subscribe even if the first few days are free.

### 2/5 — It’s just meh, for a beginner

*2026-02-08, version 3.7.0*

There are much better options for beginners - this app would be better for more advanced learners.

### 3/5 — Pretty decent for an ai app

*2026-01-30*

This app is good overall, but a few things have honestly made me not want to use it as much. The biggest issue for me is how quickly it pressures you to respond. You only get about 5–10 seconds before the robot starts saying “Are you there?” That’s really frustrating because I need time to think. When I feel rushed, my thoughts get jumbled and my responses come out worse than they should. If I had more time, like 30 seconds to a minute, it would make a huge difference. I’d be able to think calmly and actually say what I want to say without feeling pressured.

Another issue is how often it asks, “Is there something else you want to talk about?” One of the hardest parts of language learning is not always knowing what to talk about, so being asked that repeatedly doesn’t help. On top of that, there are many times when a conversation could naturally go deeper, but instead it cuts off too quickly and jumps straight to asking for a new topic. I’d much rather have more depth and follow-up questions.

And when I do ask it for topic ideas, it keeps giving the same recycled suggestions over and over. I don’t want to talk about my favorite movie fifty times. I want more variety, creativity, and natural conversation flow.

**Developer response:** Thanks for your feedback David. I think you are referring to hands-free mode, is that correct? It's true that you don't get a lot or time to think, in hand-free mode. For now, we only recommend it for for intermediate or advanced students. We're looking for a technical solution, but it's tricky because how can the AI know if you're done with your sentence, or if you're still thinking? In the regular voice-message chat this is not an issue obviously.

As for the “Is there something else you want to talk about?” and conversation flow, we've already improved this in the regular chat, a prompt update for hands-free mode is on the way and will be published very soon. Jan

### 3/5 — Potential

*2025-12-23*

I am in a 3 day trial now and the app glitches and spins causing it to be unusable after you answer about two or three questions in the text conversation option. You then have to back out of that lesson and go back in or go to another for it to reset itself. Some of the voices are low making it hard to hear. It is frustrating when you’re speaking and being misunderstood several times and not being able to get back and correct. I am in Mandarin in case the problem is localized to this language.

**Developer response:** Thanks for your feedback! The spins shouldn't be happening. If you contact support via hi@yourteacher.ai we can check your account and see where it goes wrong. Jan

### 4/5 — Love this App

*2025-12-17*

I do love this App! I've come to realise after many years of trying, that you only learn a language...by speaking it! And daily! However, private lessons with a human teacher are just so expensive - especially to do it daily. This App gets round that at an amazingly cost effective price. And, as part of a collection of learning tools/methods...listening, writing, speaking etc, it's really valuable. I've not given it 5 starts though...as I think it could be improved by adding 'grammar type' chat sessions to the 'situational' sessions that the App currently provides. By this I mean...enable a conversation with a tutor based around say 'the conditional tense' or the use of specific 'important phrases' etc. This imo would take the App to the next level. Hopefully, these sort of enhancements will come in the future. But I'm a big fan of the App now...and what it could become in the future.

### 5/5 — Amazing at getting you talking

*2025-12-12*

T’AI is a great app to get you speaking and that’s what I use it for. To my mind, you need lots of different approaches to learn a language; within this, you need vocabulary and grammar, but above all, you need enough confidence to open your own mouth and communicate ‘solo’. T’AI has really helped me to do that. I use all sorts of other approaches to boost my skills, but none provide the unique variety and tools within this app - yes, there are AI engines that can translate; yes, there are apps that are great at getting you going and adding healthy dollops of vocab - but we are talking about speaking here, and Teacher AI not only gets you going, but the built in tools will help guide you to improve at every step. To be honest, I might give it 4.5 if I could because some of the conversations are a little similar in content, but you can steer away from any given path should you want. However, I have not come across anything that is as good as getting you to talk with a virtually unlimited subject matter.

**Developer response:** Thanks for sharing John! Jan.

### 5/5 — Just what I need

*2025-12-10*

This app is pretty incredible. It’s like talking to another person in French. The only thing that makes it feel like AI is that it ends every response with a question. I understand it does that to keep the conversation going, but I wish there was an option turn that off. At times, that element makes it feel less natural. It also is helpful with deciphering or translating expressions, which traditional translation apps don’t do very well. This is worth the money for me.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the suggestion! Jan

### 5/5 — Consistent Practice without pressure

*2025-12-10*

I love this app. I’m learning Italian and Spanish and have had a difficult time keeping conversation partners. Partly because it’s easy to lose interest (on both sides) and not build a connection on language exchange apps. Also, some people are more interested in flirting and being inappropriate rather than practicing a language. I paid for lessons with a teacher initially, but the cost became too much to sustain monthly. So I tried the free route for conversation practice and it wasn’t beneficial for me. Teacher AI is the perfect solution. It allows me to practice whenever I want in a safe space. I now have practice partners that never run out of things to say. I love that there are topics built in, so I don’t have to figure out what we should talk about. The AI teacher is prepared to start up a conversation about whatever I choose. When I say something incorrectly, my teacher repeats my sentence back to me, showing what I should have said. Teacher AI is a super helpful app, the developers quickly respond if there is an issue, and they are constantly improving the app. It’s an extremely valuable tool for what is provided, will help me achieve my speaking goals for much less than I’d spend hiring a teacher, and I can practice anytime and anywhere.

**Developer response:** This is exactly why we built the app. Thanks so much! Jan

### 5/5 — Teacher AI - Practice

*2025-12-10*

This app is the almost perfect answer for language learners that know some grammar, but are afraid to speak. The voices sound natural and the questions and responses are interesting and well focused. You can customize the features easily, and the app will give you just the kind of corrections that work best for you. I use it almost every day, and I look forward to it!

**Developer response:** Thanks for sharing! Jan

### 4/5 — Pretty good

*2025-12-10, version 3.0.0*

Not quite 5 Stars! But it’s a pretty good app the voices are pretty good and real I use it to practice Arabic the Jordanian dialect voice is spot on there are definitely things to be worked on such as delays of the voice and it not really spelling things out in order or correctly sometimes but overall not bad

### 5/5 — Loving this app

*2025-12-10, version 3.0.0*

I have been thoroughly enjoying the free speaking with the AI tutor. He corrects me when I am wrong and makes suggestions that flow better. I feel as though I am truly having a conversation with a Spanish native.

### 4/5 — Worth the effort and time

*2025-12-09*

Great options and feedback for practicing Spanish conversation

**Developer response:** Thanks! Jan

### 5/5 — Zeigt sehr gute Entwicklung

*2025-12-08*

**Developer response:** 1500-day streak with DuoLingo! Wow, that's real commitment. We're very happy with committed users like you. Thanks for the review! Jan

### 5/5 — Amazing app

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Unable to Learn Thai

*2026-06-30, version 6.0.3*

The Thai language is not offered on this app!

### 1/5 — Great app badly implemented

*2026-03-17, version 3.7.0*

The app runs fine for about 2-3 weeks .. then I get logged out .. when I try to log back in it says "something went wrong" and the pw reset link doesn't work (I never receive the pw reset link). This happened to me twice - both with a paid subscription.

### 1/5 — Rip off

*2026-01-22, version 3.7.0*

Don’t waste your money! This expensive app is not intermediate level. This is more like advanced level. It’s not an app to learn a language. It’s an app to chat using a language you already know. There are many less expensive apps where you can learn and interactively chat. Don’t waste your money like I did. Also, the company responses are all defensive. Overall, just poor customer service. Check out the other reviews for their responses.

### 1/5 — charged me when i pressed cancelled

*2026-01-08, version 3.3.1*

scam

### 1/5 — Useless

*2025-12-25, version 3.1.0*

I don’t normally leave bad reviews but as soon as you start the app and absolutely has no directions makes zero sense. It’s kind of sad seeing people with a large following online pushing literal garbage.

### 1/5 — Not worth spending money

*2025-11-15, version 2.18.0*

Don’t waste your money on this app

### 1/5 — Terrible lol

*2025-11-07, version 2.18.0*

This app is absolute garbage

### 1/5 — Frustrating

*2025-11-05, version 2.18.0*

First and foremost, it’s stupid expensive. What the heck though, I figured I’d try the free trial. 10 minutes into practice and I am incredibly frustrated. Your “teacher” speaks to you in Italian. Your grammar support is in Italian. When you hit the translate button… Because you don’t understand Italian yet… it translate the Italian into Italian. I’m learning absolutely nothing except how to deal with frustration. After searching the menu settings for another 20 minutes, I just canceled the free trial. I see the potential, but it’s certainly not worth the ridiculous monthly/annual cost.

### 1/5 — annoying app and it won’t let me delete my account

*2025-11-02, version 2.18.0*

don’t bother

### 1/5 — Try and cancel

*2025-10-26, version 2.17.0*

Just wasn’t digging this at first then I tried canceling my subscriptions and canceling my account. Goodluck with that.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Steve

*2026-08-03, version 6.2.0*

Easy to use. It’s getting better all the time

### 5/5 — Teacher AI Italian

*2026-07-23*

Im really enjoying speaking to Stefano daily. My Italian is definitely improving and I can ask all the questions I want without feeling uncomfortable. I can also ask Stefano to explain something to me a hundred times. Teacher AI is a very good app, especially if you’re already comfortable speaking the language you’re learning. It’s sometimes a bit slow to respond, but overall, it’s an easy way to speak a foreign language often and without fear.

### 5/5 — Perfect for fluency

*2026-06-29, version 6.0.3*

This is the App I’ve been looking for to really practice speaking and getting comfortable with German. You need to have some knowledge and vocabulary but for upper level beginners and intermediate + it is really great. Highly recommend

### 5/5 — Great French conversation

*2026-05-22, version 5.2.0*

I learnt French at school (100 years ago) and was pretty good at it. Conversation was never my forte but this app, if you use it regularly, is great. It was difficult staying motivated but I’ve just had knee replacement surgery so have to use an Exercycle for 10 minutes, three times per day. French conversation is the only thing that gets me through it.

### 5/5 — Amazing app

*2026-03-22, version 4.0.1*

THIS APP is just amazing it helped me perfect my English to a different level. Hope we get to see the Haitian kreyole soon thanks for this amazing app.

### 5/5 — Engagement is Key

*2026-02-14, version 3.7.0*

I’ve have had this all well over a year now. What I like most about it is the realistic engagement and the fact that it offers correction in real time. This is how practice should be!

### 5/5 — It’s good enough for me

*2026-01-16*

The app does seem to go down once in a while but it has come a LONG LONG way. It has tracking to show how many words you have used and it has mock conversations that serve as lessons. I’m using it for Spanish and working from A1 and just going from there. The AI teach corrects you and I think the conversation flow is good enough that is has helped me IRL

**Developer response:** Thanks for sharing! Jan

### 5/5 — amazing

*2026-01-12, version 3.5.0*

i love mostly everything about teacher ai, i just wish they added multiple languages to learn at once

### 5/5 — Mandarin

*2025-12-15*

I’m an advanced student and have been studying Chinese for about 12 years with private teachers, apps, and pretty much everything out there. I started with TeacherAI a year ago and have waited through the hiccups and glitches. It is now my go to speaking practice partner. I can look up characters, change the speed, etc.. Compared to ChatGPT on voice, it is more stable and the speed of the speaker is steady and not like “New Yorker” speed. If you’re serious about speaking your language I highly recommend it.

**Developer response:** Thanks for sticking with us! Jan

### 5/5 — Ti tusen takk

*2025-12-14, version 3.1.0*

This is SUCH a great language learning tool!!! And their support term is STELLAR!!!
