I deleted the app, downloaded it again and reinstalled the dictionaries and sound files. Still no luck. BUT, for about the last 8 months I have noticed a bug when playing sound files. The first ~ 1/10th of a second is repeated, making every pronunciation sound like a stutter. This happens regardless of which dialect or word is selected. Restarting my phone didn’t help. Deleting and reinstalling the pronunciation dictionary didn’t help. Nor did deleting and reinstalling the entire app. I’m running the app on an iPhone 13 Pro Max with iOS 15.2.1. It would be nice to see this corrected if/when you can spare the resources as pronunciation probably accounts for 75% of my usage. Nevertheless, I still love this app! This app has fallen behind in content compared to the website. Back to five stars! ### 5/5 — The pronunciation dictionary no longer works after the upgrade. *2018-09-08, version 1.0.3* The pronunciation dictionary worked fine on my ipad until I downloaded the upgraded version. Now, the sound doesn’t issue and the help feature doesn’t respond when tapped. Is there a fix for this? The previous version worked fine. The problem with the Sounds Dictionary has since been fixed by Teanglann, so I would now give this app 5 stars. ### 5/5 — Update fixes everything *2018-06-06, version 1.0.1* After the update I have no trouble downloading anything. The sound files now have an obvious stutter and other glitches. Pity as the app would be excellent. ### 1/5 — iPad iOS 18 Version Crashing With Every Search.. *2024-09-23, version 1.0.3* This has been an important and useful app and works fine on my phone.. But since the iOS 18 iPad update the app crashes with every single attempt to search for a word. Working great on my phone, but useless now on my iPad. ### 1/5 — Audio is off *2022-10-06, version 1.0.3* This used to be a favorite language learning application but it is now one of the worst. What I liked most was the fact that the app provided audio files of actual Irish language speakers from the three main dialects pronouncing words available with that feature. But at some point within the last few years, the files started “hiccup-ing” the words making it sound as if the speaker is stuttering. This is no way to learn what a word sounds like! I removed and reloaded the app but that was useless. There is no point in praising the other great features in this app because the audio degrades their usefulness. Please fix this for the five stars this app once deserved. I mainly use it for the pronunciations, but the iPhone version has a bug that causes it to repeat the beginning of each word, in all three dialects. Today I looked up “áisiúil” (handy) and all three dialects said “Aw-Awshool!” Every word does this. Then the dictionary kept hanging partway through the download, finally jamming up the app so that I had to delete it. Same thing happened again, so I ‘m giving up. What a colossal waste of time this has been. ### 2/5 — Audio problem *2024-10-19, version 1.0.3* I see others also had stuttering problems with the pronunciation dictionary on this app. I am also having that problem on my iPad. And if it had a setting to allow paste from other apps without having to confirm every time one switches to it. ### 5/5 — Great dictionary *2024-03-19, version 1.0.3* I’ve been using this dictionary in conjunction with Duolingo. I have found it to be an excellent source. I have especially found useful the audible pronunciation aspect of the dictionary. ### 5/5 — Best learning investment!! *2022-12-11, version 1.0.3* I don’t remember what, if anything, I paid for this, but whatever it was, it was worth it!! This is such a valuable learning tool for me as I work on learning Irish. I use it constantly as a (necessary!!) augmentation to Duolingo, and my learning experience has become so much richer with additional context speeding up my understanding of the language. Go raibh míle maith agat!!! I do notice the issue with voice files “stuttering” as mentioned by other users, and while it would be good to fix if possible, I am still finding them useful. Again, GRMA, I’d give you 10 stars and all the hearts if I could. :-) ### 5/5 — Outstanding but could do with an update *2022-10-22, version 1.0.3* This is absolutely first class dictionary for Irish study. It contains three full dictionaries, a grammar resource, and sound files for three dialects. All of this is downloadable offline. The search function is very fast (if a little unforgiving of missing fadas). Content wise I cannot fault it, however, whilst very usable there are a couple of minor app flaws: 1. Sound files “stutter” when played back 2. App does not fill the whole screen 3. The “deep search” results cut off at a certain point only showing the top 20 or so results I note that the app has not been updated in four years, at the time of writing. I would still not hesitate to recommend this, but it would be nice to have a small update to correct these minor issues. Thank you to the developers of the app. ### 5/5 — Love it! This would enable discovery and searching which is crucial to language learning. For example, I search on Bain. I then click on one of the links but then I can't back up to the main page for Bain, I have to retype it in again. Am I missing something? ### 5/5 — Thanks for this great app *2020-03-30, version 1.0.3* The Teanglann.ie website has been a daily resource for me, and I’m now so glad to have all those dictionaries available offline. As a remote, independent learner of Irish, it helps me so much to hear samples of pronunciation from the three main dialect regions. Many thanks to Foras na Gaeilge for working hard to promote this beautiful language. Maith sibh! Go raibh maith agaibh! ### 5/5 — Éacht iontach amach is amach *2020-02-15, version 1.0.3* This is an amazing resource for anyone learning or using the Irish language on a regular basis. It includes the Ó Dónaill [Irish-English] and de Bhaldrathe [English-Irish] dictionaries as well as the Ó Dónaill & Ua Maoileoin [Irish-Irish] dictionary. For learners, it gives pronunciations (in three dialects!) and the grammatical variations of many words and importantly it lets you create lists of favourites and recent searches to help you build word lists to improve your vocabulary in general. I really can’t recommend it enough. I haven’t encountered anything comparable for any other language. ### 5/5 — An absolute must-have *2020-01-16, version 1.0.3* This is an essential app for students of Irish.
