Love this app for my Tempest Weather Station.  The developer has done a great job of putting together a visually pleasing display of all the weather station data. I’m getting an error on the forecast screen, so that’s my one small complaint.

I love it except for a glitch I had. It kept telling me the wrong station is but it wasn’t. Did it again same result. However it does connect to my station and looks great. Was able to swap the dewpoint and humidity as that more important to me than the humidity reading, which still shows just smaller. 
It does not give the forecast, maybe because it thinks the wrong station id?
It would be nice to be able to offset the temperature and humidity as the Tempest does not. My temperature is accurate but humidity runs high as seems the Tempest typically does from looking at others. Since this is just my display should be able to show it correctly by an offset when needed. However overall very happy with it!

I have followed all the steps offered from the Teapot help page and the app is still not functioning properly. It is not reading data from my Tempest even though the test connection feature says everything is fine. Not at all sure what I’m missing here but it’s not working.

Just installed a Tempest and this app crashes within a fraction of a second of clicking on anything within the app. Deleted and reinstalled and it’s still doing the same thing. It simply doesn’t work (iPad Pro on iOS 17.2). If it’s fixed and I am able to use the app, I will revise my rating and review.

UPDATE: The latest version has resolved my issue of immediate crashes, and it has a very nice display of graphics. However, clicking the Forecast button yields a blank page. I’ve tried to switch the settings for the number of days forecast and that doesn’t fix it. The app is definitely moving in the right direction.

After a couple updates which added API abilities and squashing bugs, I’m very happy with the app. 

Running on iPhone 14 Pro Max and iPad Air 2, so it works well on a range of devices. Love the pocket version on the go, and the older iPad as a desktop display at work. Still gotta stick with the piconsole for the dedicated at home. 

Adding flexibility to add/remove all items available from the Tempest may make the app unwieldy from a coding perspective, but that would be the only improvement I could think of.

I received communication from the developer of release of version 1.4 on 9/29/2023 due to my negative comment regarding the early version.

I installed v1.4 this morning on my iPad and iPhone 13. Both work great without issues previously experienced.

The install instructions were much improved and allowed trouble free install, especially in regards to locating the proper Tempest Station ID and Device ID.

This is a cool app!

I have a Tidbyt so I only did the free trial. But, the display is really pretty and the setup went smoothly for me. 

The app only shows incoming weather data, so when you first open the app, you have to wait for the next temperature reading to come through. It looks like wind readings come through more often, and temperature readings about every minute? I think this is partially some peoples’ complaint. Just be patient!

I have been using an old iPad to display the Tempest app. Teapot is an amazing upgrade to that. Was extremely easy to setup and immediately started working. No fuss. No problems. Do wish the wind direction indicator was a little bigger and easier to see, but overall the display is fantastic.

I installed, joined the club (paid version), and data is flowing nicely. Beautiful display, color really makes it pop.
When the other weather geek in the house says, “oh pretty”, you know it goes on the wall to replace the standard Tempest mono color display!

I know this app is brand new and there are kinks to be worked out. I like the graphics and have high hopes for Teapot. However, I have followed the setup exactly as directed (3 or 4 times) and even took the iPad outside to help it connect to the satellite . No luck…it’s been well over an hour and showing Zeros across the board.  I clicked on “CONNECT US” and got an error so I was unable to ask questions. I’m confident given some time, Teapot will get things squared away.

Can’t even tell if it works without paying for the subscription. Nothing in the app tells you this; it’s buried in the website under the setup instructions. 

Tempest sends UDP announcements that this app could be using as well but there’s no indication that it’ll do that and no way to tell without paying. 

 Nope.

Simply put, before I installed this app the tempest app worked fine on my phone and now it doesn't. It now shows me the get started screen. Oddly enough it still works on my watch.  If you haven't heared a report on this and want to consider it a bug report thats fine. Saying it is not true is unacceptable. As far as the rain adjustment function  being a linear adjustment, it is just not usefull. I have too many data points to show that.  It is just going to be wrong in a different way. I stand by my review, not worth the money.

I liked the layout so I unfortunately payed for a year. The tempest app has better history so I went back to it and my weather station is no longer there and I would have to reset it up again.  The rain adjustment feature isn’t very good either. It is just a percentage offset. It really needs to have the ability to input multiple data points and let the program run a cure fitting program. I have been comparing my Tempest to a CoCoRHAS tube rain gauge and is definitely a non linear offset.

**Developer response:** This is simply untrue. The app does not remove your station from the official Tempest App. No one has ever reported this. The rain adjustment feature is a simple percentage for a reason. Many users use this as their main weather app on their iPhone or on other devices that are not "always on" and running the app. The percentage adjustment allows users to adjust the raid, even if the app didn't observe it. A multi stage adjustment would simply not be reliable.

I understand this is a new app. However, it is extremely buggy and consistently crashes/loses my local station information. At best it is in beta version and not ready for sale on the App Store. Hopefully it’s some point it will turn into something that actually is reliable.

The app doesn’t refresh the data, doesn’t display rain or lightning strikes. Website states if you select annual subscription you get a 7 day trial, however, it charges you right away and if you cancel after one day it still charges you roe a full year.

Unfortunately, the barometric pressure reading seldom shows on the app although it is always showing on the native Tempest app. other than that, there is nothing wanting about this app. Nicely done Brian.

Update: I used Teapot to repurpose an iPad Air 2 as the main display for my Tempest station. The prefs include a setting to keep the iPad awake when the app is running—and so I have a big, beautiful, informative display that is always available. I figure the iPad has several more years of life now! [ORIGINAL REVIEW] This app compared to the Tempest app is like stepping out from the grayscale of Kansas to the Technicolor of Oz. Incredibly impressive use of screen space to display almost all of Tempest’s data in one place, and well differentiated. You will continue to want both apps, as Teapot does not yet display historical data in the form of graphs. Setup was relatively easy, but make it easier on yourself by keeping the instructions for retrieving your sensor’s information handy. Well done!

Easy to install and configure, no issues whatsoever and love the look and performance! Paid subscriber within 1 hour of installation and happy!

This product and program will be replacing a 20 + year old Davis setup that offers less information than Tempest and Teapot!

I just downloaded this app and it’s beautiful. The bright colors and layout appeal to me. I love the data on the Home Screen and the additional radar feature that is not part of the tempest app. I’m not in the habit of paying for apps but the cost is reasonable so I did. My only complaint so far is that there isn’t a widget for my Home Screen. I will update if anything changes.

The developer clearly cares about this and keeps it updated with evolving features based on user feedback. There is an active Facebook group that users can interact with one another and the developer. I have been using it for several weeks and find it to be a vast improvement over the stock app.

This app looks great and is a big upgrade from the standard Tempest app.  We have it on an old 1st gen 12.9” iPad, now serving as a dedicated display in our kitchen.  The bright colors, large fonts, and organized screen layout makes getting a quick read on the current weather easy.  The setup was quick and the connection worked the first time, but you’ll need to actually read and follow the directions.  I’d love to see some documentation showing what the various numbers mean.  I can guess which is the “feels like” temp but I’d like to know for sure what each number means.  I’d also like history and stats.  This is a great start but since I’m paying for a subscription (worth it already) I’m hoping some of these additional features will eventually be added.

I was looking for a Tempest Weather screen for my iPad, and came across this Teapot (great naming, btw!). I had a couple of glitches with the station ID not being recognized, so I left it a day, deleted all API keys, rest from scratch and it worked today. 

Overall - I think the display is cool. I favor a tech-heavy console with lots of data. I would like more documentation on what the multiple rows of data are for e.g. temp, humidity, but I hope the app author will read this and add more details to the app posting. 

Things I would like? Graphing and trending. Historical data replay. More details on the battery status and charge / discharge per day, to correlate good UV with positive charge. I’d also like to see what *every* stat would look like on the screen!

But - GREAT JOB with this app so far, and well worth the subscription. Kudos!

While it’s not perfect, it’s a new app and off to a great start.   Easy decision to purchase.  One thing I wish we could see is options for other screen designs, especially one that will take advantage of my landscape wall mounted iPad Pro, and use screen real estate to show all data points without needing to scroll.
